Slide and slam the curse of PVCs

Can't see the front but from the picture it seems to end above the door rear edge?
In the picture it's above the driver door of a T5, which is what it is designed for. It fits above a Ducato sliding door with a couple if inches either side. It just sticks on to the bodywork above the sliding door. Trust me. It's one of the best extras I have bought for my van.

I had something similar on my Autocruise...I agree

I thought same.. I think that photo is from Kirvan website and fitted to front cab doors and not the sliding door.
Appears to be shaped at on end to fit bottom of door. Not sure designed for sliding doors but sure the can be adapted to fit.

As you have a Globecar, I assumed it was a picture of that, as my Chief Engineer used to say "one should never assume"! :giggle:

Mine’s a swoosh bang PVC and we do try to be considerate.
No dogs or kids in the van and we usually settle down for the evening inside by 8pm so I will make sure door is closed and then that is it till morning.

I do however have a van that when you arm/disarm the alarm it gives two blips and you have to do front and back doors separately so it could be 4 blips.
It also has beepers on reverse so no doubt everyone loves me. I do wish there was a beeper cut off switch for reversing.

If I go out for an early morning run and we have neighbours nearby who do not appear to be awake then I will lock van with the key to avoid the alarm beeps.

Awww don’t leave us, as soon as I saw the title of the thread I thought.. ‘popcorn time’
Other threads for popcorn time are on:-

Dogs… fur monsters v fur babies
Pvc or motorhome … rally the troops
Toilets … multitude of poo related views
Waste water disposal…. Devils v angels
Immigration… The Sun v Guardian
Youngsters… waste of space v grandchildren
Law and order… UK doomed v progressive chia seeds
And many more to get wrapped around the axle.
On the plus side, if anything does actually get wrapped around your axle the site is great for technical expertise and tips and some lovely positive people as well , which is what we all need now!
I had the same thought as you once but ate popcorn through the pain and managed to remain .
Oh god I’ve mentioned Remain…..🍿🍿🍿
Now it could be because I don’t like popcorn but, what’s the popcorn inference all about? I don’t understand it.
Is it because the bang of the door is like the sound of the corn popping?

That would irritate me as I'd miss out on the smug delight of lying in bed with a brew watching an early riser setting off to endure self-inflicted pain.

Please don’t be upset, we have a PVC and Lenny HB and I didn’t even share a cross word when we finally met in real life at a rally or two last year!
That's because in real life he's a cowardy-custard!

No, you get your :pop: out and settle down in a comfy chair to watch then ensuing entertainment! :giggle:

what do you mean by an ( EARLY RISER ) should be ashamed of yourself . reminds me years ago on honfleur Aire France standing in the queue at the bread van 9am all men me the only women & a English couple was having nookie but the springs on the m/h was going in tandem with them talk about embarrassment the guys was having a good laugh that was the last time a when for a Baguette

We do but the multiplicity of outside storage lockers means we forget where stuff is stored and have to look in all of them. It's an age thing.;)
We have a two lists of where everything is so we can quickly scan them, the first gives the location of the locker and what is in it (useful when packing for a trip so we can ensure we have everything in it) and the other which is the items groups in type order (eg water, electrical etc) with the items in alphabetical order and the locker its in (not every single item is listed but for example 'hose attachments' are all in one tub.

Once these lists are done it saves a lot of time 'on site' and minimises the locker rummaging to a minimum.

I've read through the whole of this thread and it's been very entertaining, just a shame that some seem to take comments literally when it's meant in fun, these sorts of threads are always intended to be a 'fun' poke at others and should never be taken seriously.

Anyway, time I got more popcorn ... I've got a nice caramel flavoured pack somewhere! :tounge:

Just imagine sitting in a cinema idly popping snacks in your mouth watching, not strictly restricted to popcorn.
Oh god is this now a popcorn thread of its own?🤣

I know Jim said somewhere up thread that most of the contributors had PVC vans, but I wonder what the breakdown is across the forum? Supposedly loads of pvc vans have been sold recently. You can’t really tell from the picture/descriptor on the left, ‘cause either doesn’t say or isn’t up to date ( according to their comments)

Oh if some day it should happen that a victim must be found, she's got a little list. ;)

There's always a bit of banter on various subjects, the last time we stayed at Gruissan aire we parked next to Richard and Kate Clarky with our PVC and know he is not over keen on them. 😁

But I'm sure that when we spot them on one of delightful Aires in France especially as a couple of our favourites are the same 😉 Gruissan and Mailleraye-sur-Seine and park next to them, they won't pack up and move pitch 😁
They are normally far to comfortable and settle for that. 😘 😁 Bob.

It's not so much the noise the door makes, what I can't understand is why PVC owners have to go in and out of their van slamming the door every 15 min until the early hours of the morning, you don't get people in normal Motorhomes doing that.
What is AB-Normal about a PVC. I think this whole discussion is ridiculous.

I usually use the rear door of our PVC and I doubt that PVC owners go in and out of their vans any more frequently than smug "normal' motorhomers.

It was always one of my pet hates when i owned VW's ....i hated the sliding door noise. I was always conscious of disturbing people so i devised ways of closing it quietly ....with good success so i don't know why manufacturers cant do it .
It was one of my top priority when choosing a vario to convert it had to have the side barndoor rather than a slider ...for various reasons not just noise but for heat retention too.

I got lucky with the iveco i bought as it too doesn't have a noisy sliding door but instead has a hartal motorhome door fitted .

... hope it's not too loud or there will be complaints

They might read this thread, so why don't you tell them? (No need to tell me because I'm always quiet and considerate!)

Ive never considered any van bodied camper to be a motorhome. To me a motorhome was a coachbuilt body .. everything else i called a camper van and i still do despite having owned loads of van bodied campers and 7 coach-built motorhomes. I currently own 2 van bodied vehicles 1 camper and 1 soon to be camper.

They may not go in and out more but they certainly make more noise when they do thats a fact .

Having spent 6 weeks with a vw camper parked right next to me i can hear everytime jackie goes in and out her van ....the 6.30am slam really does my head in. But I can bet if you asked her she doesn't hear me going in and out of my PVC ....because i have a normal motorhome door on mine 😁

It's quite easy really ...from outside close the door by sliding it along and pushing it in from the rear ....just a click then.
And from inside fit a pull strap on the rear so again you slide it along ....quietly and then pull in the rear.

If it makes a racket when sliding its down to poor maintenance nothing else. If the tracks are clean and greased properly its smooth and quiet. If i managed it on 40 -45 year old vws im sure folk in nearly new vans could do it ....

tell her to crack a window open slightly, doors (amongst other things) close easier when the air can escape.
