Slide and slam the curse of PVCs

Sounds a bit rude to me.
I’ve just read this again.

To be fair . We agreed not to have big get together on our pitches (unlike some rallies !).

We only got together at the bar, swimming pool etc.

We kept noise to a minimum and were literally just having a chat and a couple of French stubbies (small beers).

The polish group were very rude and arrogant .

Yes but don't forget pcv owners can't afford expensive sites so 2 parking tickets is out the question :imoutahere::rofl:
You have got that the wrong way round.
Us A Class owners have spent all our dosh on the van so we can't afford sites as for two tickets in a car park that's definitely a no, no.

Well - we have a PVC (Globecar) with a soft close door. It needs a bit of oumph to make it close properly - but not noisy. If we are in & out a lot we dont worry if not closed properly. But if in properly, it gets closed properly, unless we are leaving it wide open. Because otherwise there is a draft, and in heavy rain, it drips in.
There are lots of things on campsites that can annoy - we try and select sites, or pitches, where these are least likely. EG Cant abide lots of yappy dogs that are not quietened by owners - so tend to avoid CMC sites. But people in & out of their vans is interesting - adds to the people watching!
To be honest this thread is beginning to feel a bit like the CMC forum divide between caravans and "all motorhomes".
My Globie soft-close door is easily closed when going out. Just pull it gently over and then a push on the left of the door from the outside does the trick. It does need a bit more effort to close from the inside.
As an aside...stick one of these above your sliding door to stop rain running in. From Kiravans. It isn't plastic but is rubber and is perfect for above sliding doors.

I should not have join this site to read about the negative comments on what type of van I have or am I going to justify how I shut my door. Originally this site was helpful but sadly I feel I’ve wasted money becoming a member of this site reading these negative comments. I feel fortunate that I’ve never encountered this negativity at campsites.

We are very careful at night to close it carefully and ending with a gentle pull.

Oh, If we were all so considerate as that all the time and not just with doors!
As I've said before, try an evening sleeping (or trying too) outside in a tent or awning, you may be as surprised, as I was, at the noise.

We are on holiday, if it's that bad, invest in some really good earplugs!

(I cannot get out of my mind that van superiority (snobbishness) may have a part to play in these discussions as nobody seems to talk about yapping dogs and Motorhome alarms :giggle:)

Ignore the negative comments. Some folk seem to like to moan but the frequency of the whinging seems to have increased as lockdown, covid restrictions and winter months combine. It will be nice when we're back to enjoying many of the freedoms we're used to.

Motorhome swivel seats can be turned around a lot more quietly than slamming the door of a PVC.

Not in mine, I would first have to open the passenger door, remove my fold-up electric bike that sits on the passenger seat, remove map books from the floor along with levelling ramps, skid mats etc. move the bed so I can get between the front seats THEN open the sliding door to find somewhere to put all these things, for safety, while I go for a shower. Slam Close the sliding door and passenger door again.
Have shower, then put everything back again in reverse order.

Which Fun rally are you next on, I will try and follow your instruction while parked next to you?

I think you have just summed up why I would never buy a PVC.

And of course the woosh Bang door.

Don't worry about doors slamming we have a neighbour whose dog barks when the man of the house gets up for work at 5.45 AM every morning ! So we all have to get up then when we are woken up

Does it not need to be a bit longer instead of stopping at the door edge, if the wind is blowing from the rear, a cascade would enter surely?

Just asking?

As I have a coachbuilt M/H not a PVC, I will try and slam my habitation door quietly, this I guess will not disturb anyone. Honestly, I will try and make it as quiet a slam as possible. If I use my cab door, I will do the same.

I could start a whole list very easily of all the ways that people WITHOUT PVCs can be bloody annoying and noisy but anyone with half an imagination will already be able to create it...

I try to be considerate to other campers wherever I camp. That doesn't extend to them telling me how I should use my van, thanks very much.

Seriously wondering whether my time at Retrofest Newbury will involve me being treated as a pariah because of a) having a PVC and daring to mind my own business with it, and b) having a RED van! Oddly enough, the first time I ever visited a MHF tent was at Newbury about 6 years ago. The three or four people in it at the time were all unwelcoming and unfriendly, answering my questions/comments with monosyllabic answers and making it clear they'd rather I went away. I've been hoping that was just me catching them on a bad day. But now I'm beginning to wonder!

Getting on MHer's Tits, it seems.
OOOOOOO! I so want one of those signs  DSC_0904web.jpg

Just as an aside, one idea is to maybe fit a pull handle on the inside of the door, then just close the door slowly till its almost shut and then 'pull' the rest in from the inside using the handle. Photo is a bit extreme but maybe one of those vanity handles you see above car doors.
Me, I'll just keep p!ssing others off and give it a good slam because I can. :X3:

I like this idea and we will have to be consious of it in our new to us PVC.
I must admit a car parked next to us last year with a tent i counted 20 slams of doors and boot drove me nuts

There is banter and there is also just rude.
Please don’t be upset, we have a PVC and Lenny HB and I didn’t even share a cross word when we finally met in real life at a rally or two last year!

Anyone who is honestly upset and annoyed by the sound of a few woooosh-bangs. Alongside anyone who is really annoyed and upset by the banter in this thread. Really should consider if this is the right forum for them. Because I don't think it is.

I agree Jim. It seems on many forums and life in general, all people seem to do, is complain about something. After all, our pastime is a social one, where tolerance is required.

Awww don’t leave us, as soon as I saw the title of the thread I thought.. ‘popcorn time’
Other threads for popcorn time are on:-

Dogs… fur monsters v fur babies
Pvc or motorhome … rally the troops
Toilets … multitude of poo related views
Waste water disposal…. Devils v angels
Immigration… The Sun v Guardian
Youngsters… waste of space v grandchildren
Law and order… UK doomed v progressive chia seeds
And many more to get wrapped around the axle.
On the plus side, if anything does actually get wrapped around your axle the site is great for technical expertise and tips and some lovely positive people as well , which is what we all need now!
I had the same thought as you once but ate popcorn through the pain and managed to remain .
Oh god I’ve mentioned Remain…..🍿🍿🍿

It is longer than the door.
