Slide and slam the curse of PVCs

Oh dear what a lot of anti PVC'rs. You really want to make me change my Whoosh Bang closing routine.
At the moment we try to slide door closed as quietly as possible but that normally means there is a small gap right around the door (and in my case it is a full size sliding door), yes they come in different sizes dependant on van because it only closes to first lock so lots of drafts.
But for peace of mind to our neighbours we accept that and only fully shut door at bedtime or when we go out.
So, tell you what, in future EVERY time I close door it will be with a full hearted SLAM.
But I cannot, because that would be childish and although I have a lot of faults, that is not one of them.
So come on let's all live in peace and harmony..💖💖💖💖

I didn't make any assumptions. You said in your post that you would rather slam your door in the middle of the night than use the quieter option of using the cab door.

Thank you for the gold star though, haven't had one of those for ages (y) :ROFLMAO:
I suggest you read again what I wrote - (hint: it's not what you thought I wrote..)

Sorry soft close wasnt an option when we bought our PVC and is cost prohibitive to retrofit, wouldn’t change our van though. Interestingly we downsized from a motorhome with a very poor door catch. It took 3 or 4 good slams and I mean really good slams to close it. Now on reading my post, why should I apologise for the fact that the van door needs a good shove to close!

Well - we have a PVC (Globecar) with a soft close door. It needs a bit of oumph to make it close properly - but not noisy. If we are in & out a lot we dont worry if not closed properly. But if in properly, it gets closed properly, unless we are leaving it wide open. Because otherwise there is a draft, and in heavy rain, it drips in.
There are lots of things on campsites that can annoy - we try and select sites, or pitches, where these are least likely. EG Cant abide lots of yappy dogs that are not quietened by owners - so tend to avoid CMC sites. But people in & out of their vans is interesting - adds to the people watching!
To be honest this thread is beginning to feel a bit like the CMC forum divide between caravans and "all motorhomes".

When in Spain in 2019 my wife and I were outside on our pitch talking at the table when a lady from a pitch about 60 ft away came over and asked us to stop talking as her baby was trying to get to sleep , I replied simply and politely “ no “ , she left and we carried on talking . If talking drives people nuts then what hope for poor PVC owners ( never noticed the whoosh bang thing myself tbh . )

The Mazda Bongo had electric easy closure SLD from 1994 onwards its about time the rest of the World caught up

Maybe it's time to set up a 'rival' forum for PVC owners..... I would suggest "PVC Fun" as a working title, but that could be open to massive misinterpretation!

So in the spirit of this thread, I assume that you were in a PVC, and she was in a coach built? :ROFLMAO:

(btw, have you sought any help for your penchant for talking at the table?)

Once I have pitched up the front seats are swivelled. There will often be a thermal cover over the screen and doors. The front of the van then get's filled with all sorts of clobber from under the rear bench seats that will be inaccessible once the bed area is made up. Thus if would become a major climbing exercise to use the front cab doors, probably resulting in far more disturbing expletives than a simple whoosh bang.

Oh and even if I could clamber over the rear bed the barn doors are usually unusable due to the tow bar mounted bike carrier.
Sounds like you need an A class

You could fit an awning to prevent most of the draught

We open our door in the morning, it only gets shut fully when either we go out or at bedtime. I’ve looked into a soft / quiet closing option but due to our kitchen layout there isn’t an option at the moment.

Consideration and curtesy for others be it doors, dogs, smoking, BBQ’s, drones, kids, music, people who wear dressing gowns to the ablutions, windbreakers, loud coloured vans…….I say hello to everyone I walk past on sites……(y)
Don't bring dressing gowns into this.😙😇 BUSBY

Never mind the whooshbang doors. I have taken the old filter out of my sog and not replaced it, in the interest of economy. Will that keep people from parking too close?

Funny you should mention that Grenville, we parked next to a Frenchman who appeared to have done the same it stank, 🙄 Janie got out and covered it in gaffer tape. 😁

Surprised no one has moaned about setting the alarm and deactivate the internal sensor. 😁
Whoosh bang bleep flash bleep bleep flash flash. 😁 Bob.

In 16 years of motorhoming I have never been woken up or annoyed by pvc noisy doors. After a couple of bottles of wine or a few beers I never hear much and wouldn't worry about it if I did.
Same here...even The Spanish can't keep me awake..BUSBY,,

Why do they do that have they no shame.
I have no shame..Find it much easier to get dressed and undressed in the van than to struggle in a tiny wet shower cubicle..BUSBY.

I replied simply and politely “ no “ ,
rude, if that was other peoples wives you may have been ased other "questions" a sleeping baby ?
And Im no judge Judy but I can pretty much guess she didnt say "stop talking"
maybe be bit quieter and clear all your empty beer cans up from the floor ::bigsmile:

I reckon A Class owners are just jealous because they cant fit in a normal parking space and whoosh bang out the door to the pay and display and buy JUST 1 ticket

Yes but don't forget pcv owners can't afford expensive sites so 2 parking tickets is out the question :imoutahere::rofl:

I could start a whole list very easily of all the ways that people WITHOUT PVCs can be bloody annoying and noisy but anyone with half an imagination will already be able to create it...

I try to be considerate to other campers wherever I camp. That doesn't extend to them telling me how I should use my van, thanks very much.

Seriously wondering whether my time at Retrofest Newbury will involve me being treated as a pariah because of a) having a PVC and daring to mind my own business with it, and b) having a RED van! Oddly enough, the first time I ever visited a MHF tent was at Newbury about 6 years ago. The three or four people in it at the time were all unwelcoming and unfriendly, answering my questions/comments with monosyllabic answers and making it clear they'd rather I went away. I've been hoping that was just me catching them on a bad day. But now I'm beginning to wonder!

If people judge you by your camper they are not worth your breath and sadly it does happen
