Is almost everyone on here loaded?

Well i work harder now than ever as my misses was diagnosed with a brain tumor last year with a bad diagnosis so im not worrying about what thangs cost when i dont know how long ive got her with me. If she wants 5star sites she gets them. I work 3weeks and go away 1 week every month now.

My sympathies to both of you.

It sounds as though you are doing the best you can for her.

Don't understand the point being made nor the argument...

Some folk buy a 15k van, some buy one at £150k or more

Some people pay £500 for two weeks package holiday, some people have two weeks costing £5000 or more
☝️ this....all day long
Peoples situation are different and it's all subjective....you do what you are happy with 👍

And well done to you....:wine:
Hear Hear 👏👏👏👏😊
And an absolutely cracking thread and original post.
Most enjoyable and no nastieness.
Each to their own for their own enjoyment , whatever their financial circumstances.
Really have enjoyed this 👍

when anyone is wildcamping can i ask where you empty your cassett and where do you find to fill with water ?

I have never stayed on a site, even when living semi-full time.

Generally I don't go away for long enough to fill the cassette, but I have emptied it in a TESCO toilet once before. Even when I was semi full time I'd go home every couple of weeks maximum and empty at family home. Many stay at a site for a night, say once a week, to empty and use other facilities - wild camping the rest of the time.

Likewise my three jerry cans last me for water, if not you can buy it cheap enough in supermarkets in bottles. I kept some bottles under my bed as back up. They are still there. I showered at uni, using facilities that are there for all students and staff for free. If that wasn't an option I would have fitted a bigger tank, joined a gym, or invested in more jerry cans. Some people fill water with taps around the place. Church yards, garages etc. This isn't for me though. I want to be sure its's drinking water!

I haven't been in a pub for maybe 15 years but was flabbergasted when going into an ordinary town centre one last week in Brighton to pick up my son to give him a lift home. A pint of bitter was £8.20. No wonder the youngsters get pre-loaded at home before going out for the evening.
More like 50 years for me, £8.20 is half a bottle of scotch at home for me. They know where they can get. If i'd pay £8.20 for a pint i'd go see someone, prolly a brain surgeon............ (maybe he'd lend me the money) 😉

Gina, thanks hun,
I LOVE your posts, you really are a star.
Sorry about your mum, but you will be fine, I just know it,
I'm FECKIN SIXTY in two weeks....Shit, that's awful...lolol

John
I wish I was 60. 75 next year and as everyone knows, 3 score and 10 and you're ...........

We stayed on the Criques de Porteils site to get sea views. We were right on edge of the cliff. I’m sure it was more than 12 Euros though … we had some vouchers and ACSI so it was a no brainier.
I first stayed at that site when I was 5yrs old, still lovely... I'm 47 now!!

Except for the dog on a rope brigade in their clapped out converted buses!
Each to their own. Not everyone has an endless supply of money. The one thing that get's my goat is the elitist snobbery I encounter on so many sites these days. Especially CaMC sites.
Rant over.

We spend most of our motorhome life in France and neighbouring countries.
Aires are there to pop in and fill up with water and preferably free water, I reckon I have paid for water maybe 4 or 5 times in 10 years at 60-90 + days per year.
I have never paid to empty my cassette or grey water.
Should an aire not be available then cemetries are a good source (sic) of water and lavages often have a tap.
Its good to know where the water has come from and having a chat with the natives you normally find the lavage water is drinkable (prior to it going into the lavage!) as it can come straight out of the mountain and they use it as their main source of water for their houses.

If we are off grid we just spot an aire and fill up and move on, just like the french not even staying to buy a croissant. I used to feel guilty about it, but having been at aires where the french do it, it is just accepted. Youve just got to love the French !

Just lately we have had numerous posts saying £30 upwards to £100 pounds a night is good value to just park a van up for a night, does anyone stop and think state pension is around £20 a day for everything, now I am not pleading poverty but does that sound like good value, it doesn't to me.
Have people today just got too much money , iv worked months for less than £20 , in a different time I know but it just makes me stop and think before shelling out these amounts, in fact I couldn't do it.
Has money just lost all value now?

A grilled Veggie 13.5 inch pizza from Dominoes is £20.99 (collect)

It is said the average pint of draft beer is now over £4

Price of a pint of of beer in London surging towards £14 as inflation rises, according to analysis

I keep water containers marked separately for toilet use , but water tank usually good enough for trip and water to drink from supermarket

Pizza, something else I can't understand, how the hell can they charge those prices, you can get one in Lidl and do it yourself for not much over a pound.

I vaguely remember someone on here bragging on the forum having paid £65.00 or was it £85 for a camel burger covered in gold flake!! Think he was in Dubai!!!🤔🤔
Makes the pizza look good value!! 😊😊

Crowds?
I was on the Drax meet. 104 vans on a huge field, and not a crowd in site. Plenty of fun and friendship though, if you wanted it if course. Choice is yours on a rally.
And plenty of help if needed, thanks JaG

I always buy something especially on those free sites in French villages, just look for the nearest bar and buy a beer !!! staff are really friendly and always wanting to practise their English.

I did warn you that your crown was slipping with these extravagant holidays you've been having lately. It's time to let younger blood lead the way
Even more painful at the moment, Motorhome is sitting on the drive & I'm in Thailand.
Have to keep looking at it on my security cameras to cheer myself up.

I agree with you on that, I would never order a pizza delivery. Buy pizza from supermarket for £1.50 put in oven to heat up for about 12 minutes.
