Is almost everyone on here loaded?

Don't know if Thailand has changed much. I hated Bangkok, spent a whole flippin week there, but loved Pattaya.

Gina
I like Bangkok having a 4 day break on an island at the moment the rest of the 3 weeks is in Bangkok. Having a daughter living there helps.

But flying to Thailand is a bit extreme :p .

Must break your heart, how many trips through the tunnel would you get for a flight to Bangkok .

Did you fly Thai? Are masks still obligatory?
I believe they play this game occasionally!

Just lately we have had numerous posts saying £30 upwards to £100 pounds a night is good value to just park a van up for a night, does anyone stop and think state pension is around £20 a day for everything, now I am not pleading poverty but does that sound like good value, it doesn't to me.
Have people today just got too much money , iv worked months for less than £20 , in a different time I know but it just makes me stop and think before shelling out these amounts, in fact I couldn't do it.
Has money just lost all value now?
People will pay what they are asked and then grumble, they should grumble first then choose, the more grumbles the more notice is going to be observed, perhaps collective grumbles, but for people who are happy thats ok

100 pounds a night is cheap if you have two children and the site has lots of facilities for them ,also the location as well , such seaside. Who would want to spend a holiday with two children tramping from car park to carpark for two weeks ? . Some of the French areas for motor homes are now about,15 euros.

Used to love flying into BKK... sounds a "soft" thing to say... but on the whole, the people were very gentle, had a great sense of humour, even if you had an argument.
The traffic though 😱.

Three months in Europe. About to be concluded. Home for September. High season. The average price per night has been €35. One week off grid. That’s over seven countries. Pretty reasonable I thought

We often average €2 to €3 a night.

Noisy and dusty, traffic worse than Cairo and that's saying something :ROFLMAO:

I get the comparison but imo, Cairo drivers just don't care. Egyptians can be lovely but the northern are definitely harder.
And once out of the traffic Thailand wins hands down on luxuriousness

On Friday we did 120 miles in a taxi, roads are European standard and better than the UK. ¾ of the way 4 Lane motorway with hard shoulder rest of the way 3 Lane dual carriageway with hard shoulder.

Lahore takes some beating. Pedestrians herding goats being overtaken by donkeys being overtaken by trikes being overtaken by mopeds being overtaken by scooters being overtaken by lorries being overtaken by vans being overtaken by cars...etc...

Try India if its quicker to go the wrong way down a dual carriageway they will & going the wrong way round a roundabout is fun.
If you have seen the Top Gear India trip when they did the Japuir to Delhi bit there was no exaggeration, been there done that in fact it was worse.

Pizza, something else I can't understand, how the hell can they charge those prices, you can get one in Lidl and do it yourself for not much over a pound.
And in my opinion tastes terrible. When you eat only rubbish, you believe it’s as good as it gets. Go and visit a good Italian and you will understand why Lidl’s is cheap. As the old saying goes you get for what you pay.

Loved India. On 2 trips we did classic car rally's. One of 2700Ks
and one of 2300ks in Ambassadors (old Morris Oxfords). And yes the actual driving is exciting.

Driven and ridden many many thousands of Ks in India. Mad, but fun.

I work for a "good" Italian...they are expensive and I have to say I'm not impressed with their pizza or their pasta.

Pizza is good in Italy, France & Spain in the UK we have been brainwashed with crap American style Pizza.

Did have one bad one in Italy but my fault I ordered a peperonie and got a pizza with green, red & yellow peppers on it. You have guessed peperonie is Italian for Pepper.

I was thinking the same. To be honest. Last time I calculated this holiday was at 50 nights £1050 all in site/food/fuel. A mix of free, CAMPING-CAR and acsi when available. £21 per day
Could have been cheaper but as the temperature was so high we used more CAMPING-CAR Aires

As this was the first 90 days trip I wanted to see everything as we are on a small budget anyway. I don’t think that’s to bad. Expect £1900 for 90 plus ferry and insurance. So good that we are doing another 90 from mid April

We spent the last 2 nights in pull ins up on the Yorkshire Dales, tonight we're on a site for £30 which we think is steep but it seems cheap here as most sites seem to be nearing £40. We're only here to empty the waste and refill with water. Then we'll do 3 or 4 nights off site then move to Snowdonia and have another night on a site. That's how we always do it as it is so pricey. Hubby was saying today that the days of cheap camp sites seem to be long gone.
That said, it's not always easy to find places off sites. But it's definitely getting more costly and we're still working, all be it part time now. I wonder how many people on pensions/lower incomes won't be able to holiday due to the cost soon.

Darling daughter tells me that if you think India is mad you should should try Dhaka where she’s been living and driving. Do I really want her driving my nice car when we go to Italy next week?

But you got picked up and dropped off in a crew bus and stayed in a luxury hotel in probably a nice part of town.

Inflation will hit us all along with increasing costs, I spoke with my energy supplier this morning and for new customers it’s £60p per kw for electric. For business as we know it is unregulated so it will be more. So costs can only go up.

Savings receive little interest and agree pensioners and lower incomes will be hit hard so my guess is we need to travel, enjoy, and use our MoHo’s whilst we can.

Some stunning beaches though. I love Norfolk :h:

Gina
They are, we were on the beach when we had high winds earlier in the year almost deserted and again a month ago nice walks etc Sandringham CAMC is a nice base to explore the area. 👍

Diverse thread from loaded Motorhomers to driving in Pakistan.
