Greece 2022

We have arrived at shipwreck beach, lots of campers here in parking area including a Geordie and his partner. Very nice beach and the sand is roasting. Mena starting to struggle with heat. I do find late morning it gets very hot then we tend to get a very slight breeze in the afternoon and along with some shelter, it becomes more bearable. There is a very large restaurant on the beach with dedicated
restaraunt and beer bar section. Cool.

Yes Pete, I have a few and will upload later as data getting a bit thin now. She is showing her bones now and her storage holds have all but gone.

Thanks Phil, she's a lot worse for wear now, bit like me , shame about the graffiti.

Pete

It's hot today, to hot to go on the beach and we're sheltering inside the motorhome. Mena decided to clean the outside of the motorhome using a small basin and a cloth. I broke into a sweat watching her. She has finished now and done a brilliant job. First clean since leaving home. Some motorhomes are gleaming here, their owners must be continualy cleaning them. We did see one big Morello that looked like it had just left the showroom next to it was a long handled washing brush? Whatever floats you boat! Later this evening I will try some fishing from the end of the harbour. The rod is up and I begged some bait off the local fishermen. They have some weird looking fish here and as far as I can make out everything that is caught gets cooked, apart from the dead eels I see discarded next to the boats. Possibly Morey eels.
When you get back to Central Greece have a stroll up mount Olypmus nice and cool once you get above 9000 ft.

If we can do you can.

I’m interested to learn how you get to Greece (Crete) from Calais.

Belgium
Luxembourg
Down to Italy

Then ?….
Theres a few ways, i did bari to igoumenitsa the first time but last year i drove down through Croatia, Montenegro and Albania. Depending on time of year that route would be lovely

We have stopped at Tripolis on our way North. The roads are so much better and lots of pretty flowers and great scenery on route. This church is at a SFS stop but signage restricts motorhomes from parking.

Not all properly visible, plus there may be some poetic licence going on. 🙂. The bottom line certainly reads "You may find yourself orphaned". Slightly weird.
Just looked at it again. Bit hasty before. It's not "orphaned", it's "proud". Still doesn't make much sense because you cannot see the whole thing. We may never know.

I recall going into a 'Tackle' shop in Tinos twenty years ago.
The guy behind the counter couldn't speak English but called for his young draughter out of the back of the shop. When asked what they had for bait, she replied, "worms". Being a Tyke I asked `How much? “ to which she replied, (from memory) 2 euros each!!!
Thinking there was a breakdown in comms. I asked to see them and got the shock of my life.
This young lady presented me with an accurate representation of a man's 'manhood" which was still alive!!! It was about 5"long so I asked how it was presented?
Without so much as a blush, she indicated that I should slice the " worm" across the grain, so to speak, about 1/4“ to 1/2“ thick.

I don't know how the worm felt about it but I squirmed a little every time I sliced that bait.

I should add, the 35 Km estimate is not mine but given to me by Busman Dave. He is an ex biker and a scouser to boot ! so not sure they understand distances very well.

I will miss the Topsham rally. Last year was
one of the best I have ever attended.

Thank you for the compliment, however;

It was never my intention to walk away from a rally, once organised, and let it wither.
This year, I had petenshirley as my assistants and I'm pleased to say they are doing Topsham for MHF next year.
I don't think I'm telling tales out of school but I believe Topsham will be one week later in order to not clash with Norden Farm which is already published for 2023.
