Greece 2022

If the contractor has any sense the last rocks will not come out until 99.9% of the cash has been paid.

I wonder who is footing the bill? Corinth Canal Co? Their insurers? Ministry of Transport? Ministry of Tourism? Probably still under discussion/argument.
EU.? BUSBY.

but also BVB, a second tax on new cars😱
In Denmark it used to be 100% of the base vehicle cost.I bought a base ford fiesta for my wife in the Uk once that came with a complete breakdown of price for every part that the vehicle did not require to legally use on the road . That reduced the "base vehicle cost" of a fiesta to less than £2600 , half the actual price & was purely done for the danish 100% tax when I asked.

An interesting drive today, due to a combination of deviations that required navigation through narrow busy streets. Pot hole dodging, hair pin bends and inch perfect judgement when passing oncoming HGV's on narrow roads. We made a slight Sat Nav error and ended up in the marina of Pilos which has views that are breathtaking and it looks like the town everybody wants to be in as it was rammed and tourists buses poring people in.

We did not stop to long as we were taking up the last parking space in the marina, so legged it and eventually arrived at todays destination, Methoni. Its very nice here too and we have flat level parking on the parking area next to the little restaurants and taverns. A cracking little beach and |I've been in for a dip and the water is fine, also being enjoyed by many families. Quite a few boats here and crews coming and going getting replenishments.
We will explore the fort tomorrow and stay one more night before heading onto our next destination.

We visited the fort this morning, € 3.0 per English Senior and €2.0 for E.U. senior, so I told her we were Irish citizens and saved 2 euros.
Well worth the visit with some noteworthy history and scenic views at the far end.

Found a tavern in the back streets that is showing English football tonight. There all Liverpool supporters here. Must have been a mass escape from a local loony bin imo. Some lovely looking places to eat and chill just back a few streets. Tourist busses turning up again too. Prices seem to be consistent and reasonable in Greece yet I'm spending loads

Comment one: prices are directly proportional to the number of tourist buses.;)

Comment two: To keep costs down, when you stroll around town, note the Kafenions where the fishermen/workers and pensioners are drinking ouzo/coffee and a meze, often at end of port. Go here for your aperitif drink and meze, before moving off to the taverna - atmosphere is more local, and as an aside, if the local auto/boat electrician saw you drinking there you were more likely to get good service as an identified 'Grechophile'

Please keep the posts and photos coming. Greece for us was last year, France this year and probably Greece again next year.

You?
Spending loads? Ha ha ha ha ha ha!
I suppose it's all relative - a fiver is loads to you - you old skinflint.

Not here it's not! I think those days are in the past now. Putin and inflation have killed off the one euro bottle of beer. They were happy days though.
I manage a pint (½ Lt) in Spain for €2.15 a couple of weeks ago so not far off.:giggle:

If it’s cheap you require get yourselves into rural Portugal, or inland anywhere really. Somewhere along the Rio Guadiana river we were enjoying beers and glasses of very acceptable wine @€1 a pop in March. On our return home a large wine and a pint had broken through a ten spot at a canal side inn.

Yes, Spain and Portugal are outstanding for low cost motorhoming. I only wish France was the same.
Were drinking Portuguise beer atm.

We're eating out again tonight in a georgus little restaurant and the food is to die for. Starter was baked feta and tomato. Mains beef stew and beef in red wine sauce with spices. It was I have to say awesome.

That starter looks the dogs bits 👌
Both of us are very impressed with the quality of the food we are eating and some of the dishes we have had are so, so good. I can see a diet on my menu after this trip is over. We have now arrived at our next location, a tiny fishing village that has a large car park on a walled section of its beach. Like other places we have been restaraunts and little taverner along the front. It was an interesting drive getting here. Lots and lots of hairpin bends and up and down some steep climbs, with some jaw dropping scenery, looking through multiple gorges. The road was much better on this section and drivers of other vehicles never presented us with any difficulty although one has to remain alert all of the time as the unexpected should be expected. We now are doing one night stops for the next 6 nights as we depart from Pirius on the 30th for Crete. I'll post pictures later.

We are at our next stop. Thirteen motorhomes here. Parking next to the beach and near the end of the town. Beach restaraunts less than 100 meters from where we are parked and we are sitting here on the edge of the beach watching the waves crash onto the beach in front of us. The wind coming of the sea is warm too. A very tidy FLT stopover with fresh water from the nearby cemetary. Quite scenic too, tonights sunset should be spectacular.

Well you won't be woken up by the dead then😄
🍻

You are actually at Agios Nikolaos, a little way north of Pantazis beach. The village has some great little tavernas. I had lunch in one last October with my sister who lives further north at Kardamyli. Enjoy! Look forward to your next stops.
