Probably will leave mine until the new year.We are away at the MoHo enjoying the winter markets in York, so might be waiting when we get back
Probably the same, going down to Spain at end of Feb so would like it done before then, although we did Spain last year and touch wood, no issues with gearbox or anything elseProbably will leave mine until the new year.
I still don’t think they will reduce BHP or torque, the gearbox has handled that in earlier engine versions. I continue to think they have simply got the timing of the gear changes and the engine output slightly out of sync in a way that can put extra strain on some of the gearbox components.Sorry to bang on about it and I know there’s no direct correlation between a motorhome and a high performance sports car but imagine if Ferrari had a gearbox problem and told its customers they were reducing BHP and torque to solve the problem ?
O hang on Fiat own Ferrari !
I think the 9 speed is a bit of a hybrid. It's got a torque converter. But it's also got clutches between gearsets like a manual. It's how they squeezed 9 speeds into a tiny space. The electronics control the timing to do the gear changes and lock the clutches. There's many things they could tweak in software to reduce a wear or stress problems. Many of which, you'd not be able to see or measure from it's performance.I still don’t think they will reduce BHP or torque, the gearbox has handled that in earlier engine versions. On older automatics I used to back off on the accelerator a wee bit to encourage smoother gear changes. These modern boxes, with several more gears, are too quick for that and we have to rely on the software to take care of synchronising gear changes with engine speed. They may just need to tweak this a little on the more powerful engines.
I thought they all had some form of clutch device to engage and disengage the gears. When my older Golf auto went wrong they told me the friction belts that engaged the gears had worn, and equated this to worn clutches. I also thought all the current autos were controlled electronically. However I am ready to be educated because I have never looked inside an auto box.I think the 9 speed is a bit of a hybrid. ZF ? 1961 from some googling, although the company was started in 1915.How long have they been making auto boxes ???
Got me thinking about the history of auto boxes and googling brought up this article which helped to fill in some of the gaps in my knowledge. How long have they been making auto boxes ???
I think that you are being rather naive, I think it is more of a case of waiting for the message "update complete" to appear on the computer, and that's it.surely after any softwear chaanges they need to ensure that it has been effectively changed and does what it is supposed to!
i.e. a check that all is well before handing it back to the customer.
but as i posted some time back; they wont tell you they will blag it!
Formerly known as Zeppelin. Yes, that Zeppelin.ZF ? 1961 from some googling, although the company was started in 1915.
You can consider it naive if you like,I think that you are being rather naive, I think it is more of a case of waiting for the message "update complete" to appear on the computer, and that's it.
Could be worse -Formerly known as Zeppelin. Yes, that Zeppelin.
AEG - CrematoriumCould be worse -
Mercedes - panzers and plane engines
VW - peoples car and panzers
BMW - fighter planes
MAN - armoured vehicles
Porsche - panzers
Mitisbushi - many fighter planes
Oh and Hugo Boss - SS uniforms…
They AreFWD Range Rovers ? thought they were 4wd
I’ve just been in to Jordan’s, Hull to ask if my 2021 Fiat ducato 140hp is due a recall and they didn’t have a clue what I was asking about?Just contacted Jordan’s in Hull they confirmed the recall on my 23 Fiat auto booked in on Thursday takes about 1 hour.
It’s only the series 8 with the 2.2 engine and 160 or 180 bhp what engine is yours although 140bhp not subject to the recall. Let you know what happens tomorrow after my visit.I’ve just been in to Jordan’s, Hull to ask if my 2021 Fiat ducato 140hp is due a recall and they didn’t have a clue what I was asking about?
I mentioned your post and that you are booked in next week, still a blank look!
He got my van up on the system and there are no active recalls on it so that’s reassuring for me anyway.
Ha, he was talking about people not ecus.. people take short cutsYou can consider it naive if you like,
I have an engineering background with a history of implementing stuff like this.
“ update complete” is just an indication that the relevant ecu has accepted the change.
That’s why I have previously said they won’t say what’s up just blag it,Ha, he was talking about people not ecus.. people take short cuts
(fellow engineer speaking)
But there’s a bit of a difference between 2.5t and 4t+?Land Rover push 200bhp and 430Nm through the same box with the D200 engine spec. Or 300bhp and 400Nm with the P300e. And it's been around for quite a few years now. It sounds like something relatively minor is causing longevity issues that they can fix with behaviour tweaks.
Here we go again! what is it with Fiat and transmissions? We've had the failing 5th gear, Juddergate, comfortmatic and now this.
