Fiat 9 speed auto recall notice issued

I have e mailed fiat professional customer services to see what I can find out . We have not had a recall as of yet but equally are in the process of buying a series 9 with the 9 speed box . We could wait and get a series 10 with the new 8 speed box but at the moment we don’t really know much about the series 10 or how good the 8 speed auto will be . Anyone got any further info please ?
A quick update .I had a reply from fiat professional customer services today and my vehicle is not affected. I am not sure if it’s a series 8 or 9 but the interior of the cab was slightly updated a few months after purchase . So just for clarification mine is a 2021 160 bhp 2.3litre 9 speed auto .
Hope this helps some of you who are still not sure if your vehicles are affected.

That’s an “ old “ update , there is now an official Fiat recall .
That was posted on post #6
Edit: Sorry, thought you'd only just found it! My mistake.

Or it might change less aggressively. Or do the opposite to reduce slip time. Or engage the lock sooner. Or change the timing in the solenoid interlocks. Or it might be just to change behaviour in a rare edge case situation that they didn't originally think of... There's dozens of things they could change.
When I asked ( yesterday ) my local FP garage what was contained in the software update the answer was “ no idea “
How can that be ? On the 3rd of December a garage is going to apply an update to my motorhome and they have “ no idea “ what it contains or does or doesn’t do . Wow .

Why would a mechanic know anything about software?

surely after any softwear chaanges they need to ensure that it has been effectively changed and does what it is supposed to!

i.e. a check that all is well before handing it back to the customer.

but as i posted some time back; they wont tell you they will blag it!

I guess as it's all code no one would know and a lot would just get applied as part of a service.

Find somewhere with a dyno ? 💡👍
I’ve dyno’d loads of cars in the past for BHP and torque , got to be a HGV or equivalent dyno somewhere in this sceptre'd isle .
What's a dyno?

All they check is the computer says the new version is installed.

The series 8 is the 2.2 engine which is the only model affected in 160 and 180 bhp guise.

This new 2.2 and 9 speed sounds like a bit of a palaver!!
Glad I’ve got my comfortmatic coupled up to my not downgraded 180bhp, non adblu 3.0L😊😊😊
Have they sold your old van Lenny HB you could maybe trade your new van back in for it (tried and tested) 😉😁😁

Basically yes👍
I suppose you have to take the figures stated by Fiat at the point of sale as true ( or truish) and then dyno the van to get the real post update figures . If there is a glaring disparity then legally you could argue ( even after the 6 month rejection window has shut ) that what you bought had a “ fault “ from purchase and was not what you thought you were buying.
The other side of the coin is that the update totally solves the problem and it’s happy days .

Sorry to bang on about it and I know there’s no direct correlation between a motorhome and a high performance sports car but imagine if Ferrari had a gearbox problem and told its customers they were reducing BHP and torque to solve the problem ?
O hang on Fiat own Ferrari ! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

But you don't know they are reducing anything just cynicism?

Ironically, a Ferrari owner is unlikely to ever use the full performance of their vehicle. Whereas we are there on every slight motorway incline. 😅

The recall notice definitely says it an engine and gearbox software update ( or interface between the two )
How do you find the recall notice please?

Lenny, that’s what i thought but a few people are referring to a “recall notice” and saying that it specifically mentions gearbox software etc
See above I edited my post.
