Hi, I am awaiting a new Adria PVC which should have been here last October but keeps on getting put back on a monthly basis. Now end of June and I don’t believe it will come then if I’m honest. In fact I wouldn’t be surprised if it finally arrived in 2023!

Trying to get any information of the true delay situation from the manufacturers, let alone information that you can trust to be correct and up to date, I am finding impossible. Nothing on the news for Europe but some in America Re shifts being closed at factories there from 2 to 1 a day, but that is about Stellantis car plants I believe.

The delays all appear to revolve around Stellantis production in Italy at their Sevel plant but still none the wiser as to specifically why. Saying the Pandemic repeatedly does not do it for me now.

I would just like to get some honest understanding of why the monthly delays continue and I think all Fiat based manufacturers are pretty much the same.

I wanted to start this Thread for comments from anyone who has got confirmed news or information, rather than rumours and speculation, although if my experiences are the same as others no one will be able to confidently add an update, but here goes 👍🏻

Regards in advance if anyone can add anything

Swift don't seem to be having a problem with Fiat delays? Suzuk ordered the 784 at the NEC in February as I did with the 874 with a late June delivery promise and now the first production line 874 appears today on the forecourt at Kimberley Motorhomes, I just hope my Lowdham's version is on the same production line!

Update: I have just received an email saying that my order (Sonic) has been delayed a third time. I have been moved back to Feb. 2023, and the delay by Stellantis has been quoted. My order was accepted in October 2021! This means a 16 month wait, and even then there are no guarantees. Really not sure we can carry on like this. We do not currently have a van and time is ticking by 🙁 I am a pretty patient bloke, but we have a decision to make. Do we drop out of the loop and possibly end up with a van we won't get on with, and at an inflated price, or do we carry on waiting?

That's bad news indeed! I will be having the same thoughts if my delivery is put back again. Although mine is a Fiat based PVC which perhaps might make a difference as PVC conversions do appear to be dripping through.
In the same position I would be happy to wait until Feb but would forget the whole thing if it meant another summer without a van and have even started considering the option of upgrading the boat. I will have done 4 Cunard/P and O cruises this year and I am running out of destinations!

I was told today to expect delivery of my Ducato 874 in the last week of July, only one month behind schedule! Disappointing but still Happy Days!
A month behind is good going in the current climate! I'm going to be a minimum of 6 months at least behind original delivery date!!

I was in a Dealers this week, one of the brands they sell they are normally allocated 50 a year…..that’s now down to 13.

They had 6 vans on their forecourt……none of them new.

I spoke to a converter this week and they said they were having significant problems getting vehicles. Their production line is currently almost empty.

We’ve given up waiting now. Ours was ordered Nov ‘21 for Feb/March, delayed till May/June & delayed again till Sept. Given the ongoing problems not hopeful of delivery this year so bought an exceptional low mileage used one & got it last weekend(y). Probably not such a good move financially as we had a contract & prices have gone up but hey ho we are back on the road & that’s what matters most to us atm:Grin:.

Last Sept our previous van was written off in a rear end collision:cry: We wouldn’t have changed it otherwise & have been desperate to replace it.

We had an email from our motorhome dealer last week saying delivery now March - Oct 2023 - Not happy - Build was booked and confirmed - Told August 2022 then end Sept 2022 for delivery.

Adria Compact Supreme SC for which we signed on the dotted line mid October 2022. This was already on order by the dealer for a ‘sometime in April 2023’ delivery, so we could add to the base specification without delaying the build/delivery. We were fully expecting the provisional date to run over by a few months so weren’t particularly surprised to be told in early May that 28th August was the target date given by Adria for delivery to the dealer - this remained the same advice when I enquired again in early June.

Scroll forward to today and the latest information from the Adria Dealer Portal is that Fiat have issued a chassis number to Adria and a ‘confident’ delivery to the dealer is now on 19th September, so not too far out from the previous provisional date. Despite the delay there are two ‘silver linings’ that come from this cloudy saga a) It’s due the day after Mrs Orion’s birthday, so will save me buying an(other) present! b) The email confirmed that our order is ‘price protected’, saving us at least £6.5k compared to an order made a few months later.

BTW I noticed that the Adria U.K. website no longer offers a Configurator option, just the base prices. EDIT: I’ve just recalculated the costing using the new base price (but not taking into account any additional price increases for the options we’ve specified) and the uplift on the total order is now in the region of £10k!

Same here for our 1/21 placed order, plus 13k eur / £11k

When we finally got the latest paperwork in maybe April (22), the prices had been lifted two times after our order (and once more after that) but the original pricing still stands. At the same time we got informed we may have one of the driver assist packets but we don't have to pay for it if it is there but that's a long story and is propably the reason for the 2nd delay.

Currently the counter is at around 130 days, the 2 delays have been announced at around 200 days so keeping fingers crossed.

If I was being faced with delays like this and had a watertight contract allowing them, when it finally did arrive I'd delay collecting it by the same amount of time it was delayed from the original date.
That's just me being awkward though.

I'm fully expecting our order (initially due for March/April and now October) to be put back into 2023. I think when we get to that territory, I'm going to be on the look out for what I expect to be an increasing number of newly bought vans coming onto the market due to them being too expensive for some to run with finances being squeezed. Then at some point, around the same time, I think dealers might start getting left with vans to sell into a falling market as many walk away from pre orders.

My Rapido Dreamer on the Rapido Dealer access site is still showing the magical month 'October' that so many seem to have been given.
It's about as accurate as the Met Office trying to predict the weather in October quite honestly. I recon the raw materials for the construction are still in the ground!!!

I'm not sure about a falling market by next year. As you say some will no doubt come on the market due to affordability but I think the more delays there are, the pent up market for both new and used will be more likely to keep prices high for a while longer. Also I think many will come to appreciate the freedom & flexibility of having a van in current times is worth a lot more than it did pre 2020. I know we certainly value it highly.

Keeping fingers crossed for you. Some PVC seem to be coming through so you never know. It's so frustrating. We are like you in that we have a boat to fall back on for holidays but we were really missing our van & the wait just got too much for us.

Yes understand that completely and wouldn't be averse to doing the same however our specific layout is extremely rare in a PVC and Rapido Dreamer are discontinuing it after the orders for 2022 are fulfilled so will be hanging in there for now.
Boat is also on borrowed time with the fuel and mooring costs!!

I’m of the same mind. The backlog in the supply of new vehicles is going to take a loooong time to catch up with demand, with a commensurate effect on the secondhand market. Throw into the mix the travel misery being experienced with air travel ATM and I can see secondhand values of MoHos (also taking the rapid price increases of new) being very good for quite a while to come.

The sales staff must be feeling it as well as they are getting very delayed commission and any future commission diminished by reduced quota allocations to dealerships!

Being in a Dealership last week where next year their allocation of one brand of van had been reduced from 50 to 13………if your van is in the pipeline at 2020 or 2021 prices, not easy but hang on in there. The guy said they have no idea what they’ll get in 2023 but prices are only going in one direction…..Up.

I'm thinking of super glueing myself to the dealership wall!
