Hi, I am awaiting a new Adria PVC which should have been here last October but keeps on getting put back on a monthly basis. Now end of June and I don’t believe it will come then if I’m honest. In fact I wouldn’t be surprised if it finally arrived in 2023!

Trying to get any information of the true delay situation from the manufacturers, let alone information that you can trust to be correct and up to date, I am finding impossible. Nothing on the news for Europe but some in America Re shifts being closed at factories there from 2 to 1 a day, but that is about Stellantis car plants I believe.

The delays all appear to revolve around Stellantis production in Italy at their Sevel plant but still none the wiser as to specifically why. Saying the Pandemic repeatedly does not do it for me now.

I would just like to get some honest understanding of why the monthly delays continue and I think all Fiat based manufacturers are pretty much the same.

I wanted to start this Thread for comments from anyone who has got confirmed news or information, rather than rumours and speculation, although if my experiences are the same as others no one will be able to confidently add an update, but here goes 👍🏻

Regards in advance if anyone can add anything

if your van is in the pipeline at 2020 or 2021 prices, not easy but hang on in there. The guy said they have no idea what they’ll get in 2023 but prices are only going in one direction…..Up.

Effectively wiping out any depreciation for the following how many years?

Update: I have just received an email saying that my order (Sonic) has been delayed a third time. I have been moved back to Feb. 2023, and the delay by Stellantis has been quoted. My order was accepted in October 2021! This means a 16 month wait, and even then there are no guarantees. Really not sure we can carry on like this. We do not currently have a van and time is ticking by 🙁 I am a pretty patient bloke, but we have a decision to make. Do we drop out of the loop and possibly end up with a van we won't get on with, and at an inflated price, or do we carry on waiting?
It’s annoying isn’t it
We ordered our Burstner in October and sold our motorhome as thought no point it just sitting around and the new one was coming in April.
Obviously that didn’t happen, then it was July and latest is now September.
Feel lost without a motorhome and missed a few things now.
2nd hand prices are stupid at the moment but guessing it’s because of the situation we are in 😞

We have decided to buy a used van for now. We are keeping the initial order for the new van open, but like others, we simply do not know if, or when, our ordered van will materialise. We hope to get as much of the value of the used van back when we sell it later on, based on an informed 'guess' that prices will remain ridiculously high for some time to come. I hope we will not be disappointed in the long term.

At least you have a build date for what it might be worth. Is the base vehicle at the convertor and do you ave a chassis number?

No and no! It’s still logged as being supplied with the 160hp engine. I won’t hold my breath on that though.

Just been informed my the dealer that our new Rapido 8096df is due to leave France today/tomorrow and is due at the dealer by mid-next week (public holidays getting in the way!). Was ordered on 9th Sept 2021.

Excellent news. Delivery in under 12 months is good going currently! (y)

Adria Compact Supreme SC for which we signed on the dotted line mid October 2022. This was already on order by the dealer for a ‘sometime in April 2023’ delivery, so we could add to the base specification without delaying the build/delivery. We were fully expecting the provisional date to run over by a few months so weren’t particularly surprised to be told in early May that 28th August was the target date given by Adria for delivery to the dealer - this remained the same advice when I enquired again in early June.

Scroll forward to today and the latest information from the Adria Dealer Portal is that Fiat have issued a chassis number to Adria and a ‘confident’ delivery to the dealer is now on 19th September, so not too far out from the previous provisional date. Despite the delay there are two ‘silver linings’ that come from this cloudy saga a) It’s due the day after Mrs Orion’s birthday, so will save me buying an(other) present! b) The email confirmed that our order is ‘price protected’, saving us at least £6.5k compared to an order made a few months later.

BTW I noticed that the Adria U.K. website no longer offers a Configurator option, just the base prices. EDIT: I’ve just recalculated the costing using the new base price (but not taking into account any additional price increases for the options we’ve specified) and the uplift on the total order is now in the region of £10k!
We are in exactly same position in that ours was already on order from the dealer when we ordered in October for an April delivery. We ordered an Adria Matrix Supreme. Ours was also postponed to end of August, but I messaged our dealer again this week and he said it is now showing on the Portal for end of November, so I am gutted. Ours has never emailed us updates, it is only when I ask he checks. I am interested that you have been allocated a chassis number maybe this is something I need to go back to him and check on. I need to know the right questions to ask!

Apologies I started a new thread on my delay and have just come across this one!

Fingers crossed for you.

The confirmation of the chassis number on the Adria Portal was only mentioned by the dealer after he consulted with it earlier this week. Previous monthly visits had not shown it, just the anticipated delivery date of 28th August. Although he said at the time that judging by the orders that were coming through to date the end of August was possible, it is only when the chassis number appears that whatever date is then provided becomes more ‘confident’.

In your, (and ours of course!), situation I would sit tight on the order as being ‘price protected’ you are possibly saving up to £15k (or more!!!). Given how the current new and secondhand markets are, that will likely offset against any depreciation for a couple of years at least. Frustrating I know but hang in there. (y)

I've just messaged him back to ask this question and he has just replied to say no we do not have a chassis number allocated yet, they only have 4 of their Adria sold orders with chassis allocation (maybe one of them is yours!) and they are due in early August. He cannot tell me anything more other than going on the pattern so far we are probably looking at mid September time to be allocated a chassis.

We did get £2k off to as it was during their Adria event last October, albeit we spent this on upgrades! We wanted an automatic too as we are hoping to go long distance and these are really hard to find secondhand as the upgraded auto's only came in around 2019 I think from memory...I left hubby to research that side of things as will be doing the majority of driving!

Good luck with the compact, that was the one we were going to go for too, it looks really nice. We waited so long to see one and then opted for the Matrix as we thought more room for our large dog!! I am still worried about that decision though!

Plenty of reasons to keep going with the order then! A biggy for me would be the ZF Automatic ‘box on its own. After nearly 10 years of driving a VW Amarok with their 8 speed ZF auto I wouldn’t consider anything without one - and I think it’s almost guaranteed you’ll not find a secondhand Adria with one.

I have made a suggestion to Jim about a table for actual deliveries versus projected dates at order time.

See here

Actual Delivery Date Table
Jim I believe that those contemplating buying new from various manufacturers would be interested in knowing how long they need to wait for MH delivery. Is there anywhere on MHFun that a table could be created to record dates given to buyers of new MHs at time of order and the actual handover...

For all of your awaiting delivery of your new motorhomes, I just wanted to say that I admire your patience.
I just couldn't wait that length of time - it would drive me crazy.
Fortunately our Adria was a dealer order which had just arrived in as stock.
We purchased it early Nov, but waited until Jan to have it registered with the DVLA.
That 2 month wait was long enough.
Respect to all that have been waiting 9 to 12 months.

It is what is at the moment, so I can’t see the point in fretting about it.

I ‘work’ (semi-retired) in an industry beset by supply side problems and managing customer expectations is part of it, so I’m relaxed about my own situation. Anyhow, if a planned 2 months in Portugal in the autumn morphs into 3 months in Greece in the spring so be it!

I agree wholeheartedly. We have become used to the 'I want it and I want it now' lifestyle. Having to wait for a while longer for what we want due to International events is just a first world problem. Quite honestly viewed through the prism of a post worldwide pandemic and a major European war this is a trivial personal inconvenience. Replacing a planned holiday with an alternative one is something I am well able to cope with! (y)

I'm not sure things are in reality all that different to a few years ago. Our current van, (Rapido, factory order 2018, was just short of of a year order to delivery, and previous van, (factory order 2014, Burstner) was 9 months order to delivery. Late delivery seems to have been a feature of the industry for years.

Yep, ain't fun (check the sig). But for example my situation is that I looked for some specific details in the PVC, a combination not very common these days and I kinda gave up searching and was going to keep the old one. Then almost by accident I found one that ticked all the boxes and now there's nothing else to do than wait. I've been again looking around for the past 6 months (I can quit the deal with no consequences) but no, still nothing for us that matches what we want. If I buy now something I don't really like for the current prices it would p me off eventually even more than this waiting game. So I wait.

Progress - notification today that our Fiat based Dreamer is built and awaiting shipping. No idea how long that'll take. Ordered in November 2021 from a dealer booked slot, sounds like I could be doing a lot worse.
Still waiting for confirmation of delivery...

Does anyone know if Rapido shut the factory in August like a lot of French businesses? My van has been stuck on their forecourt waiting to be put on a transporter for 6 weeks now, if it doesn't get collected before the end of the month is it likely to be there till Sept?

Update on our Carado T459. TravelWorld were superb and managed to (just) get ours two days before our ferry to Santander. Price honoured. Lovely van. A lot of work in two days as I personally fitted 300w solar, LiFePo4 power station, extra battery, security.. phew!
Hang in there if you are waiting.

Nice one. Really chuffed for you guys. No pressure before you sailed then!

Recently watched a guy in Germany travelling around visiting dealerships who appeared to have plenty of stock 🤔

We ordered a Burstner Eliseo motorvan in August 2021 for delivery in April 2022 but have had constant delays. Latest date is now January 2023. The forecourt of the dealer, which is usually crowded with vans, is empty.

I think you'll find the traditional summer shutdown is deeply rooted in their culture so I'd say yes. Also waiting for a Rapido

We met a Hymer dealer, socially, back in April 2021.

He was saying that even then that any orders taken then would realistically be for 2023 delivery and they expected that orders taken in 2022 would be for 2024-25 delivery.

Bit late to the party but ordered, Adria Twin in November 2021. With delivery in April 2022, this was pushed back to May and then August. The latest as reported by Brownhills is that “hopefully” they are expecting the van to be built in September and “hopefully” have possession of it in early October. There’s a lot of hopefully’s in their statement! They also said that they have around 900 units on back order, folk who have ordered vans but not received them. I fully expect the October date to slip and fully resigned that if I get it by March 2023 I’ll be doing well. The waiting is the worst part. Still must remember it’s a first world problem
