Well I’ve found the kind of house we both like

Where abouts ? I have relatives in St Johns, Daddry Shield. Isopburn , Stanhope etc Would love to relocate there but to remote for other half!
We live between Eggleston and Woodland(Highest village in County Durham)

Some nice ones there. I’ve looked around that way too
It’s a lovely part of the country, we’re only an hour from the north lakes and 90 minutes from Loch Lomond. We also have four international airports with in 80 miles and 4 cities within 80 miles with lots in between. If your budget is £350 then you’ll get a good house for that and a good way of life.

EuroTrotters
Here’s 3 nice ones in your budget with plenty of parking, the first is Lockerbie so 1/2 mile from Motorway and good train links, Glasgow and Edinburgh in under an hour and London in under 4. Second is in lovely wee village with local pub about 7 miles from Dumfries, third one will leave you with change, it’s situated in small village 4 miles from Dumfries.

Im not an estate agent just in case you thought I was on comm

I'm pretty sure it is on a bus route actually, though how frequently the buses pass I wouldn't like to say.
I think if i remember correctly there is a railway station in Wrexham
3min walk to the bus stop for us and a bus every 10 min.

The canal used to go as far south as Newtown but is not continuous nor yet reconnected to the main canal system.

It is 40 miles by road to Wrexham station. Better to use Newtown about 3 miles away or drive into Shrewsbury.
I was living in Aberystwyth at the time, so didnt know the area well, used to just drive through quite often in my old thames trader, bull-nosed horse box conversion. (Those were the days, the trader was pretty ancient even back then.
I forget wether it was Newtown or Wrexham had a great "army and navy store", I seem to remember it was in an old church at the time but I believe it subsequently changed premises.
I always dreamt of traveling down that canal in an Indian canoe ( that I didn't have) with my collie dog and camping en route. That dream never happened which is probably a good job as it sounds like I wouldn't have got far.

That's not my style either. Give me remote with few or no neighbours-ideal 😂
We have open fields on two sides and nearest neighoubors are the other side of the lane but only a mile from a town centre, best of both worlds.

We've done that on rivers and lochs when we were younger but I found a kayak more comfortable to paddle than a Canadian Canoe. Too old for that now :( but we do still have kayaks - got rid of the big tourers as they became too heavy for us to load and unload on the van and difficult even for the car (although I do miss them), we changed for smaller day boats which I didn't really like and was never 100% happy with so we now have inflatables, the drop stitch type that behave like rigids. Only been out once with one of them and the other has never been in the water as covid hit.

I do have close neighbours here in Spain now.
I live in a mall gated enclave of about 40 properties owned by a mixture of different nationalities.
The property next to mine changed hands soon after I moved in. Unfortunately ithe new owners are an alcoholic couple.
She is foul mouthed, he is ignorant, dim-witted, foul mouthed and aggressive when crossed. They have been described as the neighbours from hell.
Oh joy, the first near neighbours I have had since tge age of three and I get these!
But the climate here is wonderful, the countryside is beautiful and there is a beautiful large lake and extensive walking trails only yards away.
I guess you can't win 'em all!

Escape to the country, if you have at least half a million to spend, never watch it now.
What’s up with a few programmes to balance things out with 100 to 150k budget?
Would make much better television especially with the 47% further increase in food banks.
With that budget they'd have to call it Escape to Dystopian Urban Area 😁.
Or " flit to coventry or the gorbals"

Dont think 100k would buy much in the country these days .

You cant buy a decent 2 bed semi in most towns for that

Might be able to find you a single garage in Sussex for that, the chance of a nice place in the country for that is cloud cuckoo land, 750k - 1 mil will buy you a half decent place.
Which is why buying a camper and parking outside these places is much more appealing .

I was 20 yards from a lovely 5 million quid villa in sitges once ....nice views too 😁

Rubbish, maybe down your way, its not escape to Sussex or wherever you live, it’s escape to the country.

I bought this for £37000 in 2000, there’s some up in the north in the country for 150k and less, maybe you and escape to country need to do some more research.

High up on the moors, huge garden, 3 large bedrooms, View attachment 466310View attachment 466311View attachment 466312View attachment 466313View attachment 4663142 drives, one for the Motorhome and the other for 6 cars, views to die for, its worth about £150,000 now. We got it valued beginning of last year just before lockdown.View attachment 466322
Would you accept £135k for a quick sale?

I'd be seriously tempted but I've just heard another complaint has gone in from another resident about him today, so a while longer and a bit more rope and he'll hang himself soon enough.
He/rhey do not have a residencia, they have been here full time forl over a year now. (She is back in the UK at the moment) He drives a Uk reg sar on a uk license, its MOT runs out on the 23rd of Feb and whenever he goes out in it he comes back p****ed.
Sooner rather than later he will get pulled up.
Before coming here they apparently rented a residential caravan on a site somewhere out here-they were kicked off that site.
It's just a matter of time.....

Sounds like you need to make a few phone calls.

Seriously thinking about it.
His car will be out of MOT soon and therefore totally illegal . He clais he has an International Driving permit ? and therefore doesn't need to swop his uk license for a Spanish one -I don't know how true that is.
I'll bide my time a bit longer,a person who crossed him on the last place they were at apparently found their tyres slashed.
My mobility buggy and car are just a few feet away from his boundary.

Houses?they're bungalows.

they are actually story & a half , attic trusses, the upstairs gets done after they have passed building control , that way the rates are kept low while I own them
could save me as much as 30k over the coming years 😁
