Well I’ve found the kind of house we both like

EuroTrotters

While out hill walking at the weekend we noticed these two properties and thought they would meet your needs, first one is on the edge of a small village called New Abbey that has school. Dr Surgery, small shop and pub. The second one is in a small hamlet about 5 miles from nearest shops and facilities.

Very interesting!

thank you
I prefer the first one due to location, our daughter is currently saving for a house and thats the village she want to live in as it has a nice community. The village has the Sweetheart Abbey which attracts a few visitors which brings a buzz to the place without being overly busy, this also helps to support the local pub and Tearoom. Its been for sale for several months which might mean some wiggle room in price :)

Thanks, I like the look of number 1

Rubbish, maybe down your way, its not escape to Sussex or wherever you live, it’s escape to the country.

I bought this for £37000 in 2000, there’s some up in the north in the country for 150k and less, maybe you and escape to country need to do some more research.

High up on the moors, huge garden, 3 large bedrooms, View attachment 466310View attachment 466311View attachment 466312View attachment 466313View attachment 4663142 drives, one for the Motorhome and the other for 6 cars, views to die for, its worth about £150,000 now. We got it valued beginning of last year just before lockdown.View attachment 466322
Reminds me of an exchange at a 1998 National Association of Financial Assessment Officers meeting ['NAFAO'] which existed to try and standardise the Residential & Nursing Home Care Financial Assessment Process. My colleague from Lewisham requested the microphone and asked Delegates: 'When your local authority pays for care and the resident sells their house for, say, £350k, do you reclaim the capital and the interest?'

My colleague from Durham, the esteemed Trevor Harding, asked for the microphone and replied: 'Trevor Harding, Durum. I'd just like ta knaw what kinda hoose sells for £350k, 'cos where ah come from, ya could buy a whole bliddy streetful ...' and handed the microphone back ...😂

I could quite happily live there, but just my luck as soon as I did they would get independent and rejoin the EU.

I could, but the other half would not want so remote in case of emergencies etc

Not as nice as some but loads of potential and has most of what you want, it’s about 6 miles from town and about 3 miles either way to villages with pubs and schools.

Bit more expensive but in my opinion the location is ideal, it’s middle of the countryside but only about 1 miles from facilities.

I’d actually forgotten about this thread, if you’re still looking I can update with anything I think you’d like.
if you do see something you like and want an unbiased opinion I can go and look for you, obviously within reason as D@G is 150 miles wide 😂😂
