THIS week I bought

But please remember all that they will stop your sim working after 9gb due to their fair usage policy, you can use the rest when back in the uk... I found the monthly contract sim from Vodafone better value and better speed (4g) ....
I suspect we use so little internet it will never bother us just really a few e-mails and a bit of googling.

I've not had one of our 12 Gb sim cards stopped at 9Gb yet, but maybe that was because the whole 12Gb wasn't used abroad.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

@Minxy Girl produced a long set of details about how the restrictions work I think one bit of advice was to use the mifi when you return from abroad to let the sim stop the time it thinks you are abroad

This week we bought a used motorhome. Our first ever one - a Rimor Sailer 625 TC. Collecting it on Saturday.
Good luck and enjoy.
Remember to take a note book or video the handover as you will forget it all once you drive off!
Remember everyone has done something silly with their van but many won’t admit it!!!
( always check electric hookup has been removed before driving away !!! # justsaying:LOL:;))

Yes, that happens as soon as we land at Canterbury P & R, on the way back. ;)

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Better think of getting some extra security.
Well I am hoping that another Chausson owner will enlighten me about the alarm system on these vans , I have been told that thieves can buy a item online that de-activates the security systems anyway though , I have fitted two steering locks but the airbag and dash layout makes it a difficult fit .

I would go for good dead locks on the doors and a wheel clamp.

thinking about that with the doors but not keen on wheel locks as I had one one a motorcycle and forgot it was on there when I tried to ride off

We had a Chausson on a Transit (excellent engine (y)) - lots on the forum about extra security options as all makes & models are vulnerable but here some Transit specific ones https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/foru...-vans-essential-cab-security-upgrades.132770/

They're phone sims I assume so can't be used in a MIFI?
dont know but they can be tethered give them a ring on this number as its not a premium charge 01509 618591

Thanks, our phone contracts are coming up for renewal soon so will be on the lookout for something to replace the current contracts or go PAYG, if we get a good data allowance we may not need to have such a large 'pure' data sim allowance (we don't have land-line/fibre internet at home, only mobile).

I bought one of those Ring RAC900 tyre inflator compressor thingies, mostly after reading recs on here.
It was bothering me that I had no sensible way, at home, of inflating the MoHo tyres to the required 80psi. (The non-sensible way being a bicycle pump).
Cost £75 from Amazon.
I’m quite impressed with it: it’s quite a quality piece of kit, and works really well.

I bought the RAC750 mains powered inflator for use at home, works pretty well other than the onboard pressure gauge being a bit inaccurate.

Well today I compared the RAC900 gauge with a (so far as I know accurate) old-school tyre pressure gauge that I use for the car tyres which goes up to about 45psi; and compared it with an electronic digital gauge that I use for the MoHo tyres (goes up to 120psi), and the RAC gauge seems to be accurate enough for inflation, and then to check the inflated tyres with the appropriate stand-alone gauge.

Mine ( RAC900) seems pretty accurate too, as long as you switch the pump off to see the pressure on the dial. The only criticism I have is the loss of air when you unscrew the inflator

Bought one of these little Quest ceramic low wattage fan heaters which arrived today.
The blown heating system in our van is pretty poor so I wanted something to add a bit of extra heat that I could run off our inverter that would not cane the batteries to much.
It can just be used as a cold air fan or on it's 500 watt or 1000 watt heat settings.
Just tried it out in the van and I'm well impressed with the heat it chucks out. (y)

I bought a sizzix big shot.

You really have to be careful on your typing skills when searching for the best deal on that .

Maybe that’s where I’ve been going wrong, I’ll test that approach in parallel with another tyre pressure gauge to verify. Another reason I bought the RAC750 for home use, in addition to it being mains powered, is because it has the quick release catch as opposed to threaded screw on connector, easier when used on spoked motorcycle wheels.

Yesterday we received (thanks to the bay of many fleas) our new Cadac which comes with the longest title I’ve seen on a bbq.
Cadac Safari Chef 2 Pro Quick Release.
Harder to say than type for sure.
Looks a good bit of kit. This of course is in anticipation of our new van ‘handover and collection’ this coming Monday. We have gone to a PCV from our past A/T Apache 700 now there is just us two and we are now retired, so now we wish to do more touring in UK & EU as opposed to spending longer periods set up on sites. We intend to spend winter 2019-20 in France & Spain.
Our new MoHo is an Auto-Sleeper Fairford and we are so looking forward to getting out and about again.
Regards
Trikeman. ;)

Enjoy both the van and travels and BBQs!
