THIS week I bought

As you say, it is not hard to install and hubby could do it himself. However, as we are having the solar panel and inverter installed we decided to get it all done at once. Our MH is not new, but like you, hubby did not want to drill a hole in case he messed it up :) The Gasit system with the kit and euro adapters will be £431 installed, which is a great price as it's more expensive than that if you buy it from Gasit direct in Wales. By the way, I just had to pay £15 to join this because it said I had insufficient privileges to reply LOL. :)

Is that 2x6 or 11KG bottles ? I will need to get this done as going to Europe next year my dealer quoted £850 for 2X6kg Gaslow system I politely declined lol Sorry you had to pay the £15 I paid last night, you will be thanking me in the end all the potential help and advice you will get ;)

2 11kg bottles, it is not the Gaslow system it is the Gasit system https://www.gasit.co.uk/ Oh, I'm happy to pay the £15 because believe me I will be needing lots of advice in the near future :)

Huge difference between that Gasit system and the Gaslow.

What kind of huge difference? Do you mean price or the system? Please explain, thanks. :)

The system
Gasit do a plus system or did which is a 4 hole cylinder whereas that one is the older 2 hole cylinder
Gaslow are all now the newer 4 hole type cylinder.
Main difference is the cut off valve in the event of an accident / hose rupture.
The whole refillable gas cylinder thing is an ongoing saga between the different manufacturers / suppliers but my reading of the situation is that basic refillable cylinders don’t really fit into any specific regulation so so suppliers / installers baffle everyone with BS

Thanks for the explanation, although I'm not quite sure I understand what you are saying. :cautious: I did do loads of research before we decided which system to buy and it came out that apart from the price, there didn't appear to be any difference between the two. I may be wrong, but I think the Gasit system will suffice for us.

Big difference is as stated the extra valve
Here is the information but again a lot is to be taken with a pinch of salt as it’s basically more sniping at the other manufacturers / suppliers.

You don't need to drill through the side for the filler: Get a bracket and fit the filler within the cabinet. You can botch that bit up as much as you like and no-one will know (unless you tell them). You can also remove the lot to install in another vehicle at a later date.
Some will tell you that you will not be allowed to refill at certain garages but I've never had a problem over the past seven years.

I use a direct fill bottle at the moment but to be honest might not bother adding a filling point .

It's our silver wedding anniversary this week so we bought something silver! :giggle:

The anti-rupture valve in question is fitted as part of the "pigtail" hose, i.e. the hose from the outlet of the bottle to the wall mounted regulator. They enable you to legally drive the motorhome without turning off the gas at the cylinder.

AFAIK neither Gaslow nor Gasit include them as standard in the kit they sell. A quick glance at both of their sites seems to suggest they do not stock them. On my Gasit system neither of the pigtails were provided by Gasit. Both were manufactured by Truma. One was provided for free by the dealer when they put in my single Gasit bottle at handover (I later fitted the rest of the system myself). The other I subsequently bought when I realised the other pigtail I intended to use did not have the anti rupture system.

You are funny (y)
You need to reread both Gaslow and Gasit plus information !
You do not need the Truma pigtails as the cylinders already have the anti rupture valve built in .
Possibly worth using the Truma crash sensor regulator to provide protection on the low pressure side for those that travel with the gas turned on .

When did you buy the 3G sim and from where, cos according to 3 they don’t do them?

I'll phone Three tomorrow and change my plan 30GB data that you can tether for £2 more than I'm paying them now. Thanks......Again :D I only get 4GB at the moment with all the time away in our van I'll need it.
Well, I am not the person who posted about the three SIM, but I did read the post and checked it out myself, so I just thought I would post the link so others could do the same. :)

One 110 battery.
Hab batts stared playing up the other week but as we then went onto EHU didn’t think any more of it until after watching just 3 hours of TV (first night at old-mo's) the TV started flashing and the lights dimmed when water pump was used we thought.........oh dear!!!
Carried on from Mo's, up to where we got the batts from 3 years ago, and they found one was ok but one had a fault.
So had to have 2 new batts but only had to pay for one, phew!!!

This week we bought a used motorhome. Our first ever one - a Rimor Sailer 625 TC. Collecting it on Saturday.

A Victron BMV-712 battery monitor, a Victron dongle for the inverter, and lots of cable and bits to get it all fitted - thanks to the advice available on here :-)

Cheaper to buy 2 12 gb ones than a 24 I'm sure theyv'e gone up quite a bit since we last bought one.

Someone put up a link for the 24Gb card, at a round £42.....................but I can't remember who.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

But please remember all that they will stop your sim working after 9gb due to their fair usage policy, you can use the rest when back in the uk... I found the monthly contract sim from Vodafone better value and better speed (4g) ....
