The Spanish Job - message for those that are coming!!

and then a thermostat fault appeared (it looks like an electrical fault) , so kept stopping just in case , but all under the bonnet was good thankfully, no sign of the fault for the rest of the journey home

Do you want me to find you a decent garage ? Don't go to the cheap cowboys, they never do a lasting job.

Well we are here at Plymouth awaiting the off! A small grubby blob amongst a lot of glamorous motorhomes (we were clean when we left home!) Hope they'll let us on the boat!

Have a safe journey and enjoy, its not about what you are in but what you do with it.

Steady Young Hilldweller... don't you even jokingly cast those aspertion thingies at my Chief Mechanic and head of the Empire's Transport Department...

NEWS FLASH... Tanner's Arms stay in business.... The Sheriff is back in town...

No problem! Just hope I can get up enough speed downhill to get up the other side!

If the old girl can be salvaged for another year I will book the ferry for Santander (would be Easter before we got there if we went via Calais!) so it will be December before we can leave, probably the 12th and as our top speed is 50 downhill with the wind behind it'll be the 15th/16th before we land.

Don't believe a word of it!! Joy and Tim now hold the record for getting down to Zahora! :thumb::thumb:

They docked at Santander on Monday morning and arrived at Zahora before 3pm on Tuesday!!:Eeek::Eeek::Eeek:

I think they must have sprouted wings on their van!:Rofl1::Rofl1::Rofl1:

Think it was sheer terror our little van galloping down the Spanish motorways the way it did, and by the time we got here we had the muck of three countries (Wales, England and Spain) plastered over our rear so thickly:thumb: we had to wash it off before we could get the back door open to liberate the dogs! We think it's great here, and everyone we've met has been very friendly and helpful. Have had a couple of chats with Marie and Rex who have been a mine of information, and 'hola'd' to lots of people. Have booked in for a minimum of a month so hopefully will get to know a few more people while we are here. Buenas Notches Funsters! Joy (& Tim)

Well done. They do some good roads over there. Shame about the wind at times. But you made it.

This information is for anyone who is coming to the site in Zahora. Bring chains and padlocks for anything you are going to leave outside. Unfortunately there were some bikes stolen. :Eeek:

I think about 8 bikes in total were stolen the night before last, we were very lucky as ours were chained to the fence and padlocked. When I got up in the morning I noticed that the bikes had been tampered with as the bungees were off and the covers were up. When I looked around the site I could see bike covers lying around. I told Manolo one of the family who own the site and they went round the whole site checking.

Bryan was gutted ours were still here, we haven't been on them yet and they are brand new but neither of us want to ride them! If they had been stolen we would have happily claimed on the insurance and spent the money on something else! did I really say that!:Blush:

Some of the people who had their bikes stolen went to the police station and made reports and I am happy to report that the Receptionist from the site went with them to help.

The site have said that if anyone wants to put their bikes in the stable block under lock they are welcome to do so.

The weather here for the last couple of days has been fab but I think we are due to have a storm at the weekend. We are all getting ready for Christmas and looking forward to it.

Perhaps we all need a reminder from our Ringleader about security I know he has a very good handbook for sale

I was led to believe that one of the advantages of camping on sites (as opposed to the "off site camping" I do) is the security angle...

I guess you can get robbed where ever you are...

My people say that if you want your bikes to go "missing" it can be arranged...

or just invite some Man U fans over for a drink... they'll nick anything! :Rofl1:

Bryan has some cheap bikes for sale if anyone interested see him on his fleabay site www.bryanscheapbikesinspain.com

Me thinks you have been shrewd Brian (Hilldweller) now wanting your bike pinched:Wink::Rofl1:

Didn't bring my bike through lack of space though I doubt if any self-respecting bike thief would touch it. It's older than our van, and has more rust than paintwork, might have antique value I supose! anyway I can't ride a bike with a dog under each arm! Managed to screw my gas locker door back on today so we may venture into Conil tomorrow.

You have 2 dogs as well, where do you all fit in a Bambi Joy?

They are small dogs, and we are not tall. It's cosy, and cheap to run, and we have already had our moneysworth out of it so we can't complain!
