The Spanish Job - message for those that are coming!!

So sorry to hear that Suzy. One thing after another this year stopping you going to meets. Let's hope that next year is a better one and we can all meet up again.....:thumb:

(Brian ... said it all in my pms .. hugs.)

I cancelled the ferry yesterday.

A going away party at my daughter's last week uncovered terrible marriage+work related stress problems she'd never spoken about but whilst there she could hardly stop crying.

No options, I don't know what to do but at least she knows she has someone 3 hours away who will do anything to help.

Got to laugh, there are those on FUN who keep saying "when the kids leave home........". She's 39, still our kid.

I'm sure you'll all have a real FUN Christmas, I'd certainly have been well down on FUN if I hadn't cancelled.

Sorry to learn that you are both not able to make the journey to Zahora, but you have to do what you have to do as family comes first.
Here's hoping that the new year may be easier for you and your family

John n Kath x

Brian, hope things turn out ok soon. Always painful for all concerned, my daughter at 39 is now on her third divorce and we have always felt the pain :Sad:
Good luck

We're not going anyway, but so sorry for the problems your daughter is having. We have grown up children who struggle at times and I could no more leave them at times like that than I could when they were five. You're doing the right thing. I really hope things pick up for her soon.

Ivy

Sorry to hear the news Brian, i was looking forward to meeting the man behind the quick wit. Hope all goes well and things sort themselves out,Trev and Sue

Very sorry. It was an "what have I done" moment when I looked at the neat pile of clothes, the hundreds of DVDs, netbook is full of books. Not to mention the new awning and all the electrics and HiFi I got organised and tested at Newark. Slow cooker, cappuccino machine.

They'll keep.

Brian we're really going to miss having you and Dinah here but there's always next year!

How am I going to get my revenge on you for setting me up???:Rofl1::Rofl1: Don't worry - it'll keep!!:Rofl1::Rofl1::Rofl1:

Like you say - the optimists who think the kids will grow up and everything will be hunky dory haven't a clue! ( I've just spent a gruelling 1½ hours on the phone with my 37 year old!! :shout:!) I do know people who have never had a problem with their kids once grown up but I bet I can count them on one hand!!

Once a parent always a parent! ( wasn't it a great idea to have children!!??:shout:)

Chin up, things will get sorted out now you're on the case I'm sure! Just be there for her!

Look forward to 2011 / 2012 - maybe it won't rain so much then as well!

Nope, that's already out, we have a niece getting married in January so got to be here for that. I reckon that's right on the borderline of sitting out the worst here but I'll be able to think on this over the next couple of months.

A Kid is not just for Christmas eh !!

Sorry to hear of your problems Brian and hope things work out ok for you and yours. :thumb:

Rotten luck and a rotten time of the year for that sort of problem.

Perhaps all will be resolved in time for you to do exactly what you intended this time next year.

Dissapointed for you because your excitement about the trip shone through in your posts:Sad:

You've probably seen by now, we've a wedding on in Jan 2012. For goodness sake who gets married in January, they've been living together for years, they could have waited 'till the snow melted. January in Frodsham, now doesn't that get the adrenalin flowing ! Well if we climb the hill there will be the awesome sight of a frozen Manchester Ship Canal, the majestic beauty of the ICI chemical plant with it's condemned contaminated houses. If it's clear we'd even see the Mersey and the sea.

Just a big kid at heart

January 2012 ??

Correct, a year and a bit. They seem to plan weddings a long way ahead round here.

What will 2012 bring for FUNsters, £1 = €20 ?

I wouldn't like to bet on anything.

Euro getting better for us every day:

That is a long way ahead, but with the amount they spend on weddings they'll need time to save.
Euro looks dodgy, Portugal and Spain for loans next :Eeek::Eeek:

I also hoped to travel to zahora mid november but treatment imminent

These two have got their heads screwed on, they work hard for their money, it will be a nice cheap family affair. Not like her brother's, yuppie type, hired Portmeirion for his wedding, very impressive but does not make for a better marriage.

The whole world's financial system is built on fictitious money and run by gamblers. We've no chance.

You've got to have a better chance with your treatment, good luck.

You going to visit me in hospital in Swansea this month Brian?

It was very very much appreciated in Macclefield especially with you bearing goodies constantly:thumb:

How can I put this delicately ?

Errrrrrrr.

No.

No problem when you're in this area but you'll have to ask one of the locals to neglect his sheep for a bit. Or if he's generous, share a sheep.

New FUNster Wales Chapter motto then

Share a Sheep for Christmas.

But remember folks, a sheep is not just for Christmas.

Suzy and Brian - Hope you're feeling much better Brian and it sounds like Nurse Suzy is taking good care of you. I'm sure the rain will go soon, any consolation its bad down on the Costa Del Sol, blame it on my friend coz she bought new wellies!!

Hilldweller - With you as a father with your quick wit you can make your daughter smile again. Nobody knows what goes on behind closed doors and I hope everything turns out for the best.

Dale, Graham & Emily

Just had a great night in the bar opposite the camp site with some of our party going funsters :thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb: by the end of the night we were all fluent in spanish - well thats what Antonio said I'm sure.

We asked Antonio what might be happening over the Xmas and New Year period and he said that unfortunately they would be closed from about the 20th December to the end of February  Hopefully the on-site bar will be open just waiting for Penelope to confirm this:Smile:

Going to bed now, going to Jerez tomorrow with funsters tasting sherry! :thumb:

Hope your all going on a coach and not driving if your gonna be sampling the sherry!!

Campsite bar / restaurant is closed 24th and 25th:Sad:

They'll be OK in Jerez with steady eddie Bryan driving them!

Tio Pepe is a great tour - we did it earlier this year.
Also recommended is the Andalucian Horse Riding School in Jerez.:thumb:

Just got back from a lovely day in Jerez with Champers (John and Kath). We did the tour of Tio Pepe Winnery, tasted the wines and the tapas. It was great I will post a few photo's later. It took us about 45 mins to get there in the car, parking was not too difficult and was free. The admission was 11 euros each without tapas, 16 euros with tapas. Of course we chose the tapas option, poor Bryan didn't like anything so ate dry bread.:Rofl1:

We callled in at a town called Chiclana on the way home, drank some coffee, ate some more tapas (except of course for Bryan who didn't like the look of any of it and ordered a grande plate of chips what a heathen).

We will be going to Chiclana again on Sunday to see the local bullfight with 6 bulls and 6 matadors. Not everyone's cup of tea but we are in Spain and I am looking forward to taking part in one of their local and national traditions.:thumb:

Penelope Pitstop tells me that whilst I was out she welcomed more funsters to the site. I am sure we will all have an opportunity to meet soon.:thumb:

Putting my xmas decorations up tonight, its December and I feel like celebrating!

Off to the local market at Conil de la Fronterra in the morning, then drinking coffee and eating churros acting like a typical spanish woman. Bryan tells me he has some really important jobs he must attend to so can't come oh what a shame, I'll ask some of the girls if they want to come. Bet NannyJan and Champers are up for it!

Great report Suzy, sounds like you guys are having fun:thumb: Did Bryan ask for Heinz Tomato Sauce:BigGrin:

He certainly did not ask for tomato sauce, but he's back at camp base now and eating beans and sausages out of a tin ugh:Eeek: I can't stand the smell so I am going visiting.
