The Spanish Job - message for those that are coming!!

Thanks for the report Suzy...

Sounds like my cup of tea...

Baked beans and sausages from a tin... beautiful, beautiful stuff... yummy, yummy, yummy...

JJ

Will keep two tins in reserve just in case you make it!:thumb:

Chocolate and churros thats the only way to go:thumb:,keep us updated if you find any restaruants open on xmas day please, not worried about what food is being served. Thanks in anticipation Trev and Sue:Smile:

Do you have a toad? the reason I ask is that Penelope Pitstop tells me that there is nothing open in this local 24/25th December. If you have a toad maybe there is something in Conil which is about 7km away. I go most days there to the market and just to drink coffee and act like a local.:Rofl1::Rofl1:

I will let you know on this thread if I find anything.

Lovely to see you keeping us updated Suzy.

Hope the decoration don't trip the sites leccy as knowing you it wont just be a string of lights:Laughing:

Wished I was there:cry:
Decorations are now up, looks like Blackpool illuminations :Rofl1::Rofl1: wish you were here to see them!

We will be going to Chiclana again on Sunday to see the local bullfight with 6 bulls and 6 matadors. Not everyone's cup of tea but we are in Spain and I am looking forward to taking part in one of their local and national traditions

Hi Suzy
Hope your not running through the streets (as the locals do) when the bulls chase you!!

Just got back from a lovely day in Jerez with Champers (John and Kath). We did the tour of Tio Pepe Winnery, tasted the wines and the tapas. It was great I will post a few photo's later. It took us about 45 mins to get there in the car, parking was not too difficult and was free. The admission was 11 euros each without tapas, 16 euros with tapas. Of course we chose the tapas option, poor Bryan didn't like anything so ate dry bread.:Rofl1:

We callled in at a town called Chiclana on the way home, drank some coffee, ate some more tapas (except of course for Bryan who didn't like the look of any of it and ordered a grande plate of chips what a heathen).

Penelope Pitstop tells me that whilst I was out she welcomed more funsters to the site. I am sure we will all have an opportunity to meet soon.:thumb:

Putting my xmas decorations up tonight, its December and I feel like celebrating!

Off to the local market at Conil de la Fronterra in the morning, then drinking coffee and eating churros acting like a typical spanish woman. Bryan tells me he has some really important jobs he must attend to so can't come oh what a shame, I'll ask some of the girls if they want to come. Bet NannyJan and Champers are up for it!

Yes please Suzy, it is my last chance of the Market as we are leaving Saturday morn to start the journey home alas back to the wonderful welsh weather :Wink::Wink:Kath

I have uploaded some pictures and put them into three separate albums. If you are interested in viewing them please ...

Have a safe journey home......don't forget to wrap up well, it sure is bloody cold here:Eeek:

Glad to hear your enjoying yourselves out there, I'm wrapped in a blanket trying to keep warm, O/H is watching telly in bed buried under a pile of duvets, and even the dogs have got their jumpers on! Only a week to go now before we head for Plymouth and the ferry, if I can only find everything we need to take! As our place is up for sale I've been decluttering and hiding everything. Just wish I could remember where?? Just bought a mini oven to save the weight of taking the microwave. Won't get a turkey in it, but maybe a couple of chicken legs'll fit! Anyway whats wrong with tinned stuff? Make a change!

We brought a little mini oven, its a Dualit and it has been fabulous so far. Only one mishap - it was Jan's (Nannyjan) birthday and I thought it would be nice to make her a chocolate birthday cake. Anyway to cut a long story short, it was the first time I had used the oven and the cake was only half done when I took it out of the oven. Needless to say Jan never got the cake it went straight in the bin and we had to make do with some breakfast muffins with a candle in them! :Eeek:

I don't hold out any great hopes for a turkey but maybe I can manage a poussin, Bryan won't be bothered he,d much rather have beans and sausage :Rofl1:

Look forward to meeting you when you arrive.

Your cakes are so yummy Suzy real bu**er the oven is not so great.

Surprised with you lights you have any leccy left to run the oven:BigGrin:

re the Turkey sounds a good excuse to go out for lunch:Wink:

Am attempting to get a quart in a pint pot, trying to use every square inch of storage space, as if it's all well wedged in, nothing should move when the van does! The cab is exempt as there's only room for us and the satnav in there. Managed to fold down the dog's cage without losing any fingers, and dug the awning out of the shed. Just got to get o/h to empty the contents of his suitcase (no room for it) into a couple of cardboard boxes (more squishable) and make sure we've got everything we do need and nothing we don't, and see if the van still moves and I've cracked it!

Buen viaje

Heres wishing you good luck on your journey, see you at xmas:thumb: Trev and Sue

As you all know this is a "free and easy" meet with no get-togethers or activities organised.

However, as it is a very special occasion, for those that are interested we will be having a get-together in the campsite bar on New Year's Eve.

Look forward to seeing you all there and welcoming the New Year in twice - UK time and Spanish time!!!:Rofl1::Rofl1:

see if the van still moves and I've cracked it!

Well you are doing better than the other two olde fartes allegedly on the ferry. One week and you are on Spanish soil. Have a good one.

All I've got is a travel voucher that can only be spent in one go and looking at the ferry prices for later in the year makes my eyes water. Santander leaps from £650 to £850. Now I remember why we avoid that crossing ( except in the winter which we haven't done for real yet ).

We had a storm last night, thunder lightening the whole lot Bryan and I opened up all the blinds and watched it it was quite spectacular.

Unfortunately Rex and Marie (PenelopePitstop) hadn't unplugged their van and for the second time got some equipment fried.:cry: Last year it was their tv and this year the sound system on the van.

So those of you who are coming out here, if it looks like a storm, unplug everything!:Eeek::Eeek: Last year on Xmas Day there were at least two tv's and a fridge fried so be warned!

Best watch TV on the cadac the Suzy.

Think we will keep the computer charged up and watch dvd's  or plan b could be to go to the bar:BigGrin:.

Travelling Tapps (Margaret and Eric) are moving off to Portugal, same weather as here, but more to do. Have a good christmas in Portugal you guys, we will be thinking of you whilst we are eating our beans on toast!

Any idea how long you are staying in Zahora Suzy?

What temperatures are you having?

No idea how long we will be here, it is fairly warm but suffers greatly from winds and rain. Still we haven't got any snow like at home so I suppose we shouldn't complain.

There are no 'get togethers' arranged other than New Years Eve so we have plenty of time to explore the area on our own. Lucky we have the car otherwise it would be a bit desolate.

Still not sure what we are doing for Christmas Lunch. Open to offers!

I am waiting for my mini operation which i think may be cancelled after a call today.

I am sick of my 4 walls so love to be down there with you.

Oh well next year:BigGrin:

You have a ball you've had a rotten year but acheived so much:Wink:

Well we arrived home from Zahora safe and sound and all in one piece, stopping overnight at Salamanca (Camping Regio) seems we had missed the heavy rain and thunserstorms here too then onto Sanitlliana overnight, the pitches were sodden here so had to park on their road which circles the pitches as did others, a little shunting in the morning of a kind tugger who let us thru :thumb:

We passed snowy fields etc and it was down to the roadsides halfway thru our journey to just outsdide Santander:Wink::Wink:

No problems with our van thru-out our trip :BigGrin:, but tomtom decided to takes us the scenic route leaving the regio ( I had put tomtom to warn us to drive on the right there and she didnt like it and we ended up doing an extra 20 miles, and then a thermostat fault appeared (it looks like an electrical fault) , so kept stopping just in case , but all under the bonnet was good thankfully, no sign of the fault for the rest of the journey home ....so weird:RollEyes::RollEyes::RollEyes: we had left 10.15am to do approx 228miles i think, and it took us until 5.00pm to reach Santilliana

Zahora was great but a car is an advantage to view the wonderful area, alot of fun and laughter was had and it is definitely warmer there than here
10.30am here in wales and it is -10 here the sun is shining which is a bonus

We wish those of you still to go a great time, dont get put off by the snow on the journey is does disappear, it was very windy going across the viaducts at the start of the journey too so take care

Sorry Marie n Rex that you got fried again, relieved we missed that storm and hope all is sorted soon
