The resurrection of Doc, bringing a 20 year old neismann Bischoff Flair back to life after 12 years off road.

I get irritated by people in VW's making comments about MPG and going to Cornwall :banghead:

My revenge is pointing out that they paid more for their poorly equipped day van than most people pay for a MH and they still have to sh*t in the bushes

Don't get me started on Cornwall.......
I was filling up one day locally and the guy on the next pump said "what does that do to the gallon then" I said "about 19 what does you BMW M5 do" he laughed and said "about the same" yes but I have a shower toilet and bed in this

Yes I was advised not to go up to 220hp as it would/could strain the clutch/comfortmatic box by Quantum👍🤪🤪

When we had the Comanche 180bhp 5000kgs Comformatic I had it mapped to 210bhp, no increase/decrease in mpg, a bit more torque on hills which was nice and nothing untoward regards the gearbox in 3 years of ownership.

The Rapido is same 180bhp and weight but new 9sp box and is chalk n cheese compared to the Comanche and i’m not considering having it mapped as imo there’s no need to 👍

Just been up to Nyvern place where he kindly assisted with welding a bit pipe on the generator external exhaust so that's now sorted. Weather still crap here but supposed to clear up a bit after 3pm so will hopefully get the generator back mounted under the van .. 🤞🤞

Fact is all those quoted increases are purely theoretical. Without a dyno there is no way of knowing the output before or after.

I don't do mpg as it's much easier to work out miles or km per litre, as that's the standard measure for fuel working out how much you need for a journey is easier.

We seem to average 6.6 miles/11 km per litre so to allow a safe margin I always work on 10 km to a litre.

But it should be blatantly obvious when driving it if it performs better.

I've had vws remapped in the past and it was very obvious.

If I get it mapped and there isn't an obvious improvement then they'll remove it again and issue a refund . That's their policy

Weather still crap so not got on to genny today yet.

But as there were a few breaks in the rain I thought I'd fill my water tank etc in preparation for my departure tomorrow... hose in ... starts raining a bit so I'm in van looks at guage 60%, 70% , 80% , 90% , 80% ....I thinks hang on what happened there . First instinct look where tank was leaking before as I've never fully filled it yet. Nope that looks fine . Goes round side , water not overflowing etc . Opens big side locker.....river flowing through it 🤦‍♂️ many swear words uttered , turn off hose . Dry up all water in the locker etc .. go investigating, bathroom cabinet stripped out again to access back of the filler pipe. Floor wet there which is above the tank so I figured had to be the filler pipe or breather pipe ...but they don't feel wet . Just smiffy came out for a look and finds this .....

That long tailed 4 legged sticky up eared barsteward of a mouse has only chewed the fecking overflow pipe too 😡🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬.

Fortunately still have a load of that pond sealant so garry plugged the hole with a bit plastic then swathed the offending pipe with a load of the stuff all around it . Hopefully that will seal that one up .

Feckin mice. The damage they do is unreal .

Hopefully that's the last of the leaks

Still hoping to get genny in at somepoint this afternoon if this rain buggers off.

Weather forecast lies ...was meant to improve after 3 ...think it's got feckin worse.

Anyway the case is all reinsulated/soundproofed. And exhaust has a coat of paint . Should get a year or two out the exhaust before it needs replacing .

Only Need a dry hour and the bugger would be refitted.

As Just smiffy said I think the aircon is knackered. There is no life from it whatsoever and there's no 240v fuses so I'm assuming it's been disconnected. There are 2 x 240v cables under the wardrobe that I've no idea what they are .. maybe they were joined at one point and supplied the aircon. No idea but it isn't something I'm too concerned about. Had it worked it would have been a welcome bonus but not willing to spend money on it. Will leave it alone for now but may remove it next year .
Canny mind if you’ve already tried this, but might it be possible to disconnect the 240v feed to the Aircon and try connecting a temporary supply directly to it for test?

Brilliant to see it all coming together. A massive well done to you both. It must be really pleasing to be rewarded with such a braw Motorhome. This has been a hugely entertaining, and informative, thread. 👍

Doesn’t look like we will get it in today Tam, weather looks ok in the morning so we’ll crack on then…👍🏼

In the meantime to satisfy my curiosity put a mouse trap down…😆
I don't think there's one still in here . No fresh poo or chewed up stuff.

Going to send milo in between the floors lol.

You can only get wet, just go for it, I have been stamping around all day in heavy rain, stuff now in the dryer and me eating chocolate to recover 🤷🏻‍♂️😇😆

Panel vans will always get better mpg. That old iveco I took to Greece a few years back got great mpg
Filling with posh yesterday & an overlander pulled in. 500litre tank either side & had around 50litres in each & was proposing to fill completely.pumps have a 150€ cut off .glad i wasn't behind him :hi5:
There's some very expensive motors in Morocco too.
I posted elsewhere that when I was returning from UK in august a Rolls Royce Cullinan on Moroccans plates overtook me near Teruel.Just looked,I knew they were dear but Jesus!https://www.autocasion.com/coches-s...vrlfyGgadtKqx89RMTfu2odjg1SktkksaAqflEALw_wcB

I bet that gennie will be very quiet when both silencers are fitted, be interesting to hear it running under load.
In one way it would be a shame if it was too quiet though, as it could have been used for deterring the French, German or Dutchman from parking up too close, or then again, maybe it would attract them to turn up with something 240V that needs charging.:giggle:

I was more thinking along the lines of Garry sitting dry in the van with the dogs and the heating on and shouting to Tam through an open window a bit to the left , yes keep going etc🤷🏻‍♂️😇😆
