The resurrection of Doc, bringing a 20 year old neismann Bischoff Flair back to life after 12 years off road.

But they're not likely to list any negatives, are they?
My Renault master van (bought new ), tuning box fitted at 1 year old , has been chipped for 11 years now , much more torque, runs sweeter , no problems what so ever & 1 to 2 mpg more , I’ve got many friends with boxes fitted & never had any problems

Yep had one opposite us at porth beach in July, telling all our neighbours he could go anywhere unlike our "big unit that had to bring a tow car"

Revenge was we booked with DA £21/night he'd booked direct @ £60/ night and had to eat out every night as he couldn't cook in his old plumber van.
We're you there with the BCC?

Tam , can you not get a tuning box for yours or do they not sell one ?
Think I paid £50 for mine (new)

Edit , it just plugs into the common rail

Something like this

Well , got the genny back in the cabinet and bolted back up to the floor , all wired up ....but it won't start 🤣🤣 . Now it might just be that it's struggling to pull the fuel up from a can on the ground . We will connect it back up to the fuel tank tomorrow and see if that makes a difference.

Never checked it again after fitting the new spark plug so I'm hoping it isn't that .

Got too dark to mess around with it anymore tonight so will see how we get on tomorrow morning.

Then just this old fridge to take to the tip and that's that.

I've dismantled all the serviceable bits of the fridge and I'll keep those and sell as spares.

Not the best way to improve power, they just interfere with the fuel rail sensor and inlet pressure sensor to increase fuel injection, very crude way of getting more horse power better off with reprogaming ecu.

Anyway the case is all reinsulated/soundproofed. And exhaust has a coat of paint . Should get a year or two out the exhaust before it needs replacing .

Well you won’t need to worry about that then Tam, you would have changed Doc for another motorhome way before then! :rofl:

The only way that'll be happening is if this one blows up or I buy a house again.. its no easy changing vans and it also leaves the question what could I possibly replace it with?

I ain't doing all this work to sell it and get something else that needs work. And anything newer just isn't as well built

We were there for a shortened week and managed to sell loads of books on behalf of Prostate Cancer UK.
No doubt you had left for pastures new by the time we got there.

You are bang on the money there Tam, and ours is already chipped. (y) I rarely go over 60Mph (100Kph), and never get more than 22Mpg. The 5.5T 2.8TDi Fiat/Hymer consistently got 25Mpg when in touring mode across the water, but less here in the UK.

It is Tam, but only because I up plated it to 6850Kgs, but normally running at 5850Kgs. Although the VIN plate says she's a 60C17 chassis, it's actually a 65C17 chassis, as is yours most likely.
When looking for spares, a 60C17 just doesn't appear, whereas a 65C17 does, having just bought (and had fitted today), an uprated alternator and new Delphi front pads which won't squeal..................hopefully. ;)

Cheers,

Jock. :)
My last van….. Never missed a beat …. And pulled up hills like a train.. after being chipped 👍👍

But gennygate continues…. We took it all back off and it starts but it’s not right on the electric side of it now for some reason…🤷🏼‍♂️

So we put it all back and he will get it sorted some other time…

I’m off to the spa…..

Fact is all those quoted increases are purely theoretical. Without a dyno there is no way of knowing the output before or after.
That's true - but Celtic tuning (who Tam posted the screenshot from) do have their own dyno, assuming he visits their Newquay premises.

I've not used them myself - but they do seem to have a good reputation in this area - I believe they design and test their own maps rather than just downloading off the internet from some potentially dubious source! They do have 'agents' elsewhere in the country who then apply those same maps to other vehicles themselves locally - without a dyno test in most cases of course.

I've had my eye on them for a few vehicles and was considering taking the van to them this year - though in the end I had the van remapped by a local Quantum Tuning agent - mainly from feedback on here that theirs seems to be a fairly well tested / well used map for the specific engine in my van.
