The resurrection of Doc, bringing a 20 year old neismann Bischoff Flair back to life after 12 years off road.

Bloody idiot….

I can’t see office layout this was very normal, and if I was buying anew morelo or concord flair I’d want the bar layout it suits us and our previous van had the same layout. The 2 front seats turn round making a nice social space.View attachment 943225
Van looks pure quality....and the food

Just take care with that control panel because mine shut down and would not come back to life. Sent to Appletree for repair who advised computer chip had lost its program or got corrupt so then had to have new control panel and fuse/distribution box as only N & B have their program for the chip! Probably needs power maintained, hence the little battery.
It seems to still be working as I had the panel disconnected for about 30 minutes and when I reconnected it the time and date were still correct so while the wee battery is corroded and I've ordered a new one it must still be working to some degree

Looking good(y) next time you are up there check the joint where the front cap meets the roof, it is Sikaflex or something similar but then it is taped over with something that looks like a foil backed bitumen tape and it is supposed to be changed/replaced every few years, I did ours with Eternabond RV tape which has something like a 25 year lifespan.
Yes I checked that today Martin and will need re doing as its peeling at bits . I'm also going to re seal round all skylights etc once I've cleaned all the old stuff off . And a bead around that rear spoiler too .

Do you mean they should but they don't ? do they lift up ?
I can't see swivels on them , there does appear to be levers on the sides with hoses going to them but dint seem to do anything. Bit I've not spent a long time investigating them yet

Well it's not your number one priority at the moment but yes the lever is attached to a cable that allows the seat to swivel, also another lever to lift it up to table level, sometimes the cables need replacing or adjusting and the lifting of the seat usually needs a bit of help as the gas struts get tired.

Plenty of lovely roof space for some mega solar panels (y)
Have you thought about putting them on tilting frames [ I think Martin jumar has at least one that tilts ]

I'm sure I've seen a similar desk layout in another A Class
I have and during the low sun season, it's yield is incredible......

I wonder what the story behind this van is ?

Why would anyone leave a very expensive 8 year old top of the range motorhome sitting in a barn for the next 12 years ?
12 years ago it could have been sold for a six figure sum as an 8 year old motorhome in very good condition.
Now after 12 years of storage fees and zero use I doubt Tam paid even a quarter of the value it once held.

I also wonder about the strange 'office' set up in the layout.
It looks like it was designed to run an office of some type with the accommodation as a secondary option.
Possibly some sort of race official ?
I wonder if things like the cooker and bed have ever been used ?

(For example our van when we got it had was nearly 2 years old, had 6,500 miles on the clock, the carpets and TV were worn out, but the the cooker and mattresses still were covered in plastic as they had never been used, but we know why)
Brains that layout is known as a bar layout. We had it o a 2002 Hymer and it was also on their top of the range, also on several other makes. It’s a great layout, far better in the current available on most ranges these days. Nowt to do with office at all

That would be perfect.

I keep discovering or getting told new things with this van ... its such a well built big bus

I didn't see bar I saw office, how sad am I :ROFLMAO:

So next time somebody says "I'll bet it drinks fuel"
You can truthfully tell them, "nah, only needs filling once per decade"
"Last time the tank was filled was 2012!"
Aye and the tightwad I bought it from ran it on that old diesel back and forth to garages for mot and cambelt and dragged all the shite up through the fuel system

I saw those marks around the mini heki and wonder if it’s leaked and somebody had just taped something over it and that’s left residue.
I know I’ve had to reseal mine

You have done an excellent job of cleaning that roof, yes I know you will go back again, but the change is fantastic. This bus is getting the attention it needed 12 years ago.

I think you lot with the same model or near enough should meet up soon, so you can show Tam everything he doesn’t know.

I expect there is also a downloadable manual online. Not sure you didn’t find one

There’s a lever under the seat that when pressed send s ours up the turn round?are you sure yours don’t.

I could give you pair a big kiss 💋 😘

I've just been out to check and yes the front seats lift up and swivel all from that one lever and are level with the rear ...that's bloody amazing . I had looked and thought they'd never be at the same level and that's why they didn't turn but they do .. I'm so chuffed I could break dance as it really makes it a nice lounge now. The dogs will be so pleased as the girls lie on the front seats but I always feel they're out the way then so now they're able to socialise.

Brilliant 👏 👏 absolutely brilliant

Yeah it's had a remis skylight originally I think same as the very front one and if like my hymer the wind has caught it and blew the top off ...they've had something taped over the hole till they fitted that heki .. and then never cleaned the tape off . Hopefully panel wipe will remove that residue .

They come with an absolutely brilliant manual, ours went with the van when we sold it of course, it's just a pity Tam hasn't got one (well I guess he hasn't) ;)

The roof will come up lovely . I'm going to finish washing it tomorrow under all skylights etc ...then I'll reseal around all those before I polish and wax the roof. I suspect that big aircon unit doesn't work as I can't get any life out it but will have to buy a skylight to replace it with .

It will reduce my height a fair bit too.

And then fit my solar on there across the back end .

I got all the manuals but there are so many of them lol I've not read them

That big box is definitely charger and not an inverter
Sorry Tam, but it has all the looks and fixings of an inverter, and that clear relay underneath is the auto switchover relay, which auto detects when you are on mains, or the inverter.

Have you not got a 16A charger which looks like this, with an on/off switch, and a Gel/Lead Acid changeover switch?

Or one of these 18A jobbies..........

I would have liked the front seats to swivel also but they are on a different level to the rear seating .
In that case, they raise and swivel. (y)

My front seats don't swivel unfortunately.
I'm no gambler, but I'll bet they do. ;)

Do you mean they should but they don't ? do they lift up ?
As Martin's reply.

Plenty of lovely roof space for some mega solar panels (y)

Definitely not a desk layout Stephen, ie, bar lounge layout, very much the same as our old Hymer E690.

Well it's not your number one priority at the moment but yes the lever is attached to a cable that allows the seat to swivel, also another lever to lift it up to table level, sometimes the cables need replacing or adjusting and the lifting of the seat usually needs a bit of help as the gas struts get tired.
Again Tam, exactly as Martin suggests. (y)

Cheers,

Jock. :)
