Beer o'clock for Martin, gin (transported in a Gaseosa bottle) with elderflower tonic for me.

Followed by a late lunch/early dinner of salad and (canned) herring and a glass or two of Totana red (not from the pillow though, officially imported and reported at the border RED).

Tomorrow we need to get off our BFA's and go cycling. A 52km farm route??? from Grimsted. Looks nice, time will tell.

Just been down to the bridge below our FLT parking and was enthusiastically waved at by youngsters on a boat. I love this country ... at least when it's not raining :D.

The girl waving on the photo has just been trying to sell fish to us. Martin told them he can catch his own  so they went round the other vans. Don't think they got many customers !!! Sad really cos they're youngsters being enterprising.

Drove to Grimstad to get info from the tourist office. The small harbour where I waited for Martin to get the info.

We'd already found the 51km "Farm Route" and we collected a booklet describing it.
Had our bike ride. 51km, one of them we had to push the bikes at times, but we knew that from the description.

A few lakes along the route. This one, with the farm featured in "Farmen" a TV series from 2013 (not shown in the UK I don't think) is one of them.

And Lake Vigelandsvannet

We're now parked at the village of Herefoss at a parking area next to the church.

Martin's been in the water with two Norwegian kids who encouraged him, telling him the water was warm! The boy speaks with an American accent and he said he got back from the States yesterday.

Just had an old guy approach. He's told us we'll have problems staying here cos it's part of the church. Unless ... We pay him €20 and he'll sort it for us then we'll share a bottle of wine. Then he couldn't keep his face straight and told us he was joking. We've had a nice chat and he's tried to sell us a house . I can't marry him cos I'm not a swimmer :D:D.

He's going for his third swim of the day. He walked down to the water and spoke to the family who were swimming. He was speaking to them in English and they were replying. He asked where they were from (20k down river :LOL:) you're Norwegian?, why are we speaking in English? We were killing ourselves laughing!!!

Surreptitious photo through the motorhome window.

But of a none day today. Left our parking place to go to do a walk. All went well. Parking area found and map boards in place. Nice walk for three quarters of the way then it went pear shaped where a house had been burnt down and we missed the signs and we ended up on the roads, but saw the church and navigated our way back to the carparking courtesy of Mr. Google!

OK that's not so bad ... but now need to find a shady parking area.

We drove, and drove ... and found nothing covering all our criteria ... and have ended up at tomorrow night's intended parking at Mandal where we're meeting @Hagstrom on Monday morning.

All's not lost though, cos we're directly onto forest trails to the beach (and beyond), and from last year's visit we know we're in a nice place.

Martin caught fish here last year :LOL::LOL:.

A few of our none day photos.

First my practicing with the timer on the phone this morning before we left. Had to run down the ramp before the 10 seconds were up!!!

IMG_20180714_184056.jpg

Then on the walk, including an amazingly sparkly trail of different minerals. Doesn't show the "sparklyness" on the photo!

IMG_20180714_111949.jpg

IMG_20180714_183752.jpg

We should have come back through the mineral mining but that's the bit we missed :(

And then the church that we shouldn't have seen :D

The weather certainly looks better than it was on your last trip

If anything it's too hot, but here now at Mandal it's windy so that's making it a bearable temperature.

Jan and Eli have reported excessive temperatures from Bergen.

The reduction in degrees will enable me to sleep better......in fact I have just had a try...managed an hour......eBikes, motorhome and my battery are now fully recharged.....ready for anything now...

After our interrupted sleep last night by kn@bh**d car drivers (twice, but I only heard one) we left the parking to go into the town to do some much needed washing. On the harbour you can wash clothes (and yourselves) for a reasonable price for Norway. Washing done we went to park in the forest to go for a walk.

It's a little cloudy and breezy but, for us, that's preferable to the hot temperatures of a few days ago.

Near the campsite we saw some dog ... and ... pig walkers. Wonder how they charge for that!!

We returned to our overnight parking to do some surreptitious outside cooking and then we've moved to a small harbour where we hope we can stay the night. The prime reason is for Martin to watch some football match  but it's a nice view also.

Photos to follow when I've taken them :ROFLMAO:.

Photos of our present position. We hope we can stay here until tomorrow when we need to meet up with @Hagstrom

IMG_20180715_152455.jpg

From here we can see the bridge on the main road and a steady stream of motorhomes. Don't know where they're all going and hope we don't find out

The ducks have found a comfy bed on the lily pads!

Looks lovely . I’m really enjoying your thread and pictures.
We’d love to go to Norway . It’s up at the top of our to do list .

If you can .... do it!

It is a beautiful, if expensive, country but with judicious shopping and working out the crazy fuel prices (prices up and down on different days or even different hours!!!) it's definitely do-able (even better if your van is, or looks like it's up to 6m). We thought last year would be a one off but didn't see all we wanted to, because of the bad weather, hence the return trip, which we hadn't planned, but when Ros and Norman said they'd like to do the south west coast if we were going, it clinched it and we headed northwards from the Mosel.

We're only doing the southern part of Norway this trip. The west coast and the Telemark region, then may go back into southern Sweden, a totally different experience but enjoyable nevertheless.

Lovely photos of a very picturesque place.

found you, hows the fishing going
Well it's been quite exciting... especially as we passed through Denmark last week...I fished with others at a harbour on the East...I chatted, as you do, to others....most said....quiet.....I could see lots of small fish...then on my second cast felt a big tug...a large...sea trout had decided to entertain me..after playing around with it for a few minutes and not having my new landing net at had I lost it....I am suprised nothing broke...this was big....the next day different locations....and 30°c at 11am....only caught some small stuff....but no time....needed the ferry....
Here in Mandal....the salmon are leaping....local told me . Unlikely to land one, last year same spot, had fun and some nice catches....let's see what happens....we have time....that's what's happening on fishing news.....

Having great evening fishing fun last night, then I got snagged on a passing Speedboat, visions of following the boat in Water-ski fashion caused quick thinking to avoid disaster, I wrapped the line and rod around a metal ground spike and waited for tension, am I going to stop the boat, perhaps ejecting the occupants......Twang....line broke, went back to van to have a rethink.

Had a great day. First a walk in the forest and along the bays near Mandel.

Then a drive to the Lindesnes Lighthouse and another walk. Had to manage to carry Lester up three metal spikes on a cliff face. A well built black Lab is not an easy thing to get up there. A consolation for him was a swim in a lake.

Back to base. Drinks and food consumed. THEN a discussion and a check about ticks !!!

Ros wanted to make sure she hadn't collected any!!!

This morning we had an early walk up to and around, the lighthouse.

IMG_20180718_084457.jpg

We then had a narrow, undulating drive on the first of such roads Ros and Norman had encountered. We'd found a website of walking routes and found one we could do en route.

We were entertained by this little chap who ran to see us then took off round the field like a bucking bronco.

IMG_20180718_130245.jpg

Were now at a parking area at Feda. We stayed here last year also. We're parked next to a Dutch couple who said they go to Spain in the winter, love the Murcia region and love a camperstop near the mountains above Totana!!!

Our spot for tonight.

IMG_20180718_191604.jpg

Tucked in between the Hagstroms and the Dutch neighbours.

IMG_20180718_191724.jpg

And Martin's fishing spot.

Nothing doing tonight but he'll be back out in the morning.

IMG_20180718_200227.jpg

Norway was mentioned on the weather forecast this morning. It was 34°C in one place in Norway yesterday - and the good weather is set to continue for a while. :)

We don't like hot weather, let's head to Norway, we thought!!!

We've not had it quite as hot as that but it has been hotter than we like at times. It is preferable to the rain we had last year though.

We left our overnight parking this morning after Martin had done a spot of lure dangling.

IMG_20180719_074524.jpg

IMG_20180719_074550.jpg

And drove to a parking area directly across the fjord but a few km to get to. Our walk took us to a high point.

Looking left.

IMG_20180719_121352.jpg

Looking right.

IMG_20180719_102911.jpg

We've now arrived at our tonight's spot from where, tomorrow, we hope to cycle to the village from where we can walk to the Brufjell caves that we missed out on last year due to the relentless rain.

Our tonight's spot at Åna Sira. Arrived at after an interesting last 500 metre drive when downhill traffic, including car and caravan met uphill traffic, including car and caravan on a narrow bend. Add into the mix motorhomes in both directions and it was tense, to say the least!

IMG_20180719_134031.jpg

Our van feels "big" in this piccie!!!

Not so in this one :D
