Shame we have to be excited about the relaxation of the rules that stopped our freedom of movement.

I think that was covered. Just an off the cuff sentenceThe Scottish, Irish and Welsh not included then, according to the opening post.
Sadly like many motorhomers who sought out warmer climates , many of those second home owners probably voted for the current situation. Because it has been proven many times despite claims otherwise , many (thousands) hadn't a clue what they were voting forDear oh Dear.....so many folk getting their hopes up on the back of something someone said, wrote or something they would like..
Go back a while...perhaps a year or so..a Political guy from a minor Spanish party made a similar claim about extending the 90/180 ruling. This generated similar media attention, appeared on various Facebook pages, on Fun too....then it just got forgotten about...
If Spain did introduce a visa for long stay tourism....I imagine you would need to entry and exit via the Spanish borders...Ferry port or Airport....suiting second home owners, who have been hit more than long stay motorhomers..those who have invested vast amount of cash for their dream second home only to be restricted...

Then if you are still in the UK, then who was that Gus Lopez imposter that came for lunch two weeks ago....nice bloke, quite friendly..When we returned from the UK via dover-dunkirk at the end of august no one even opened our passports. As soon as the French bloke saw the TIE cards he handed then straight back. So if i was booked in as entering the UK i must be still there?
jumartoo has contact with this group and is fairly up to speed with the current state of affairs..There’s some good work being done by members of this Facebook Group:
180 days in Spain (you’ll probably have to join the group before seeing the group contents).
They are canvassing politicians in both the UK and Spain.

We've travelled via that route twice this year and both times had our passport stamped going in and coming home. The Netherlands aren't applying the rule anyway, a number of work colleagues have been going backwards and forwards on Hull -Rotterdam and they haven't been stamping passports.
Yes, I thought they were being quite strictWe've travelled via that route twice this year and both times had our passport stamped going in and coming home.
Entering and leaving France our passports have been stamped. Also on visit to Tenerife in June.Since September. We have not had our passports scanned in Spain. Ports or airports.
What is the situation in Other EU countries ? Anyone ?
But scanned also ?Entering and leaving France our passports have been stamped. Also on visit to Tenerife in June.
Yes, both.But scanned also ?
Our passports were scanned & stamped when we left Holland last week. The Netherlands aren't applying the rule anyway, a number of work colleagues have been going backwards and forwards on Hull -Rotterdam and they haven't been stamping passports.

I've plenty room for a small one ...or twoThere's a little 'un needing a home here. But I'm not giving more details!

But 5 is the absolute limit lol
Is that 180 days in France and 90 days in other Schengen countries in the same trip?yes it quite easy according to my mate Steve who applied in Manchester back in April-ish, took everything he needed to including passports and got them back in 4 days
He's over there now having done France, Northern Spain, into Portugal, now back into Spain and slowly working his way back up over a 9 months period
You can apply if within 3 months of departure btw
Apparently. But with no borders between Schengen countries who's going to know?Is that 180 days in France and 90 days in other Schengen countries in the same trip?
Tam, I actually go out of my way to spend even less time in France, ie, 8 x days in one go might be too long for me.I certainly wouldn't be spending 180 days in France. 18 would probably be stretching it
I'm too soft to try and dodge the systems but could happily spend 180 days in FranceApparently. But with no borders between Schengen countries who's going to know?

I've gotta spend about 4 days in France on my way to Spain and I'm dreading it . I'll be stocking up on food before I leave the UK lol ...but I still need to endure the fuel costs and the detours to avoid the toll roadsTam, I actually go out of my way to spend even less time in France, ie, 8 x days in one go might be too long for me.
Cheers,
Jock.
