RWG Mobile

I have the RWG 200gb sim in my iPad,
I had the sim within 2 days of ordering it was activated the next day. It is on ee, have had it for 3 months we are now down near the Dordogne and it is working flawlessly.
I have contacted them twice by email and had first class responses both times.

What am I doing right against others slow service I have no idea.

But I will be sticking with them as long as the service I have had continues.

That's encouraging. Thank you. A couple of questions from an RWG rookie.

1. Did they email you to inform you it had been activated? As per their instructions I have emailed support requesting activation but I wonder how I will know it is done, without continually checking the sim itself?

2. With the Global Data SIM, do you need to order and pay for a fresh bundle every month or does it renew "automatically" with them taking payment?

Thanks.

I put the sim straight into a spare phone and it worked immediately, i emailed the telephone number to them and had confirmation next day.
Bu it worked straight away.

Mine renews monthly until i cancel and that’s what it stated on my bundle.
I don’t have a data only sim I have the big bundle 200gb standard sim but use it in my iPad for data only.

If you text ‘info’ to 669 from your sim you will get info on your current data status.

In addition each month when payment is take I get a confirmation email from RWG,

Hope that helps

So, from my own experience with the Global data switch to EE/Vodafone SIM debacle, plus the comments and information gleaned by others, am I right in thinking that:

1: The ‘Big Data’ phone SIM bundle/deal at £20 now looks to be the best for use in a router in Euroland. (Provided they allow the full 200gb allowance).

2: The 200gb data only SIM on EE/Vodafone might (just) be a better deal for a router in the U.K. only, with a current price of £18pcm)..

3) It’s only really worthwhile splashing out the extra on the 200gb Global data only SIM (recently increased to £35 pcm) if you intend to travel extensively outside the EU.

On the big data 200gb phone sim all 200 is useable in the eu.

It says so in the bundle but I also emailed them and got confirmation.

I popped mine into my iPhone briefly and it worked straight away however, when I took it out and put it into the Maxview MiFFi - it's not seen. I sent an email late today to RWG requesting activation, so perhaps things will change tomorrow. It needs to work by the weekend when we're off to France.🤞

This sums it up very well for me Orion - Thank you
the only comment that I would add is that we would try our big data in Spain (bought primarily for the UK but hope to use in the EU as well) when we next go but if it didn’t work well, I would get the Tiekom again and have it delivered direc to the site - at something like €39 a month and it gives you 400GB in Spain and 200GB everywhere else - also you can put it on hold for €3 per month when you are not using it

Hopefully RWG have activated your sim by now. They took over 24 hrs to activate ours. Until then I had it in my phone, connected to their “now” service. Until activated there was no data service. Once it was activated and I could verify the data was accessing the internet, I transferred the sim to my motorhome Wi-Fi, where it has continued working.
ultimate test comes Monday when we exit the Chunnel.

I put my Big Data sim straight into my MiFi , & sent them an email quoting the phone number, & asking for activation. I kept checking the MiFi, but it always said no service. I finally got a reply today (after I emailed again) saying the sim was activated. It still said no service on the MiFi, but I went into the Huawei app & did a network search, chose EE, & it worked straight away! I’m using it now in the UK, & hope to use it in France & Spain next month. I’m also thinking of buying another Big Data sim to use when the 200gb is used up (we are big data uses), but May try the phone sim for £18. RWG said I could add that bundle on to an existing sim. Has anyone done that? I’m in two minds!

Is your SIM a phone SIM or a data only SIM?
The phone SIM allows roaming the data Sims unless the global SIM are UK only.

It’s this one - states EU roaming, & I’ve had that confirmed by email. The one I’m considering adding (no need for another sim) is a phone sim.

Ordered sim Friday night, arrived today, activation email sent 2pm, email confirming activation received 3:15. All up and running, no complaints here - just in time for France tomorrow. :)

Had such dismal contact with RWGMOBILE that I’m also going back to Tiekom next month,
needless to say more or less instant reply from Camino, top quality customer service,

Just started a new 200gb SIM for my trip across Europe.

I'm a little confused on the renewal/billing cycle.

I received and activated my SIM on 7th September. The activation confirmation email says the bundle will renew on 1st of the month.

I emailed asking them to explain and they said renewal and billing dates are different.

Still none the wiser! So if it renews on 1st I lose 7 days of data???

Billing - on date of order or date of activation?

Can anyone explain?

Your billing is when you start but the data will renew on 1st of month, so my understanding is if you stopped payment before 7th you would get nearly 2 months for one payment.
So you activate on 7th you then have 200gb to use till 1st when new 200gb starts and ends on 30th
That’s how I understand it anyway

Thanks VX Man, I had the same email, there was also some info further down which might improve things regarding checking balance etc

“What’s more, we are adding new customer service agents all the time as well as more self management tools in online accounts such as bundle information, recent billing history and credit balances - these will be available soon”

also this:

“Lots of you ask when certain services which we don’t currently offer will be starting and we are pleased to say that projects to launch extra services such as Wi-Fi calling, VoLTE and eSIM have commenced and we will update all customers when these are available

Been in France for 10 days now and Big Data sim is working faultlessly. Very impressed by it and the Maxview Roamer.

Can also confirm that the RWG Big Data Sim has been brilliant on our travels through France, Belgium and Luxembourg. Easily fast enough to watch live football on tv without any buffering.

I agree with the positive comments above. Our 200gb has been great across Europe. (Annoyingly no good in Bosnia and Herzegovina!)

I would go for RWG as a permanent SIM for home use but my issues were lack of wifi calling and their lack of online management of the SIM. If they fix these aspects it will be a game changer for me.

I am tempted with RWG Mobile but I have just been reading Julie and Jason Buckley’s “Our Tour” blog and the section on 2023 SIM only contracts is potentially very interesting.

They include RWG Mobile but I am really liking the look of this data SIM which they mention. Apologies if this has been mentioned before.
IQ Go - 4G and 5G SIM for Caravans, Mobile Homes – IQ Mobile UK (helloiq.co.uk)

£20 p.a. for the SIM and you then buy 30 day data bundles when needed. 100% data available for Roaming up to 3 consecutive months in EU. No need to keep stopping and restarting and its cheaper than Popit for example. Can't see any disadvantage at the moment.

They also include this site which covers local SIM deals from around the EU and beyond. Again potentially very useful.

I’ve just gone down this route with IQ Go - just arriving now in Norway having stayed last three nights in Amsterdam (excellent signal) Hamburg (no signal- but very remote site in forest) and Hirtshals (excellent signal) whilst driving up for the ferry. Therefore working reasonably well so far - have used 21gbs of 100gb allowance for £20 plus £20 annual subscription and believe that if I run out before the month is up I can either top up or simply buy another 100gb before the month ends. No roaming cap

The IQ GO top ups after using the £20 pcm for 100gb data allowance looks a bit expensive though - £4.50 per gb. On that basis the RWG Big Data SIM at £20 pcm for 200gb data would be a better deal for heavy users.

What I like about it is that you only buy when you need it - no monthly commitment- if you are not away every month no need to pay anything or if just away for a few days just pay £10 for a smaller amount. As you say , depends on your personal needs
