More grief about motorhomes

Hopefully that will then bring on a civil war which is long overdue.
True but no one asked me when they pay out for lazy, gay, black transvestites? Or translators in 90 different languages for scum that can't speak english & shold be thrown back where they came from.or paying for accommodation & pocket mponey for the same filth.

& what difference is that to Jo muppet car & van drivers who park in a lay by & there mate picks them up to go & do a days work somewhere ,then Daisy Blunt comes along & does the same ,et al,,Until the whole lot is full. so blocking the lay by parking off to anyone travelling for 12 + hours. I've experienced it everywhere year in year out & even the same people year on year.
You're earning too much
Which is what the problem is across the Uk completely.Out of hand sky high prices for all & anything.
See 2 hopefully we can reduce the population by the 28 million shown for the UK in 2025 by virtue of the virus & killing each other.
I use one which is sensibly priced that allows no waste to be left by anyone whatsoever.Take it home.

I only charge that for a 4 person double bedded apartment complete with lounge ,gas ,electric & heating included per night for 2 people.

Why is there a "going rate" what is it for? What is the extra expenditure for that a car or van does not have? & no we don't mean parking as that should also be free for vehicles.

They should be providing facilities like this + free parking along with lay bys & bins that are actually emptied on a regular basis rather than translating services for those who are actually putting in nothing to the economy or the lgbt lot ,blm ,social services that are an embarrassment,& any other band wagon they can climb on. people want the bins emptied , the street lights on & not much else.

It is directly as a result of councils wanting to spend profligate amount sof money on grandisoe schemes along with excessive wages & pension conts; whilst dishing out money to lgbt & immigrants that require 00's of 000's spent on translating whilst basically expecting the tax paying resident to pay for services they do not want. How in the present crisis any council can be going "bankrupt" defies belief? All should be awash with money if they didn't p*** it up the wall on the above. They should all be personally liable.

How do they justify the lgbt, blm translating for non speakers, social services that do nothing to the residents? They don't ;Ask & they will hide behind the 'data protection' etc; nonsense.
As above If they can't balance the books now when they should be awash with money there's no hope. In fact I know there is no hope as ever since they allowed expenses, attendance payments, etc; councils have needed more money for less services & far more ridiculous schemes & pay outs to obscure dreamers organisations many of whom end up failing & the only one who benefited was the recipient of the money.

Unique in my experience.

Your points are reiterated in the Oban Times today - an interesting article:

They are charging the guy £150 a week for water ? He must be aff his heed.

As for a 2 metre barrier ...it will do nothing as the vans without toilet facilities can fit under that .....most of which cause the problems
The vw campers , bongos etc etc
More ill informed useless councillors.

They still will not use the campsites as they don't want them ....when they will get that message is beyond me.

Restrictions don't work and never will work

And once again no actual proof a campervan damaged the water pipe ...just a " likely was "

That’s the difference - I holiday in my motorhome and don’t expect to park a stones throw from every facility. I knew this would be the main drawback when I changed from caravanning of 40 years with the benefit of a car. it is sometimes inconvenient but that was my choice for a change in holiday style. I personally cannot think of anything worse than having to sleep in the middle of a town/city for my holiday and all that goes with that. Visit for a day, use public transport, bike or taxi and then go back to a lovely peaceful site.
Yep i used to caravan too

And never knew many lovely peaceful sites
Most were full of noisy kids running around ...in and out toilet blocks making a mess , parties of noisy folk drinking , bbqing etc

It seems caravanning/motorhoming and borderline alcoholism goes hand in hand

I'd prefer the empty carpark or wildspot somewhere

Yes sometimes there's noise or whatever....but free noise compared to paid £30 per night for noise will always win

I managed 347 nights free last year in europe . .can only recall maybe 4 or 5 being noisy

Don’t know where all these £30 a night sites are, CLs are quiet, no screaming children, with essential facilities and for as little as £10 a night and much nicer than any car park.

Don’t go to sites in school holidays!

Plenty of lovely rural sites to enjoy! Actually very rarely have I paid £30 for a site. This is where I do agree it is an exorbitant price for families to have to pay and is very wrong that site fees are increased for the school holidays.

From above you still using your motorhome as if it was a caravan, just without a car.

Have never ever stayed anywhere like the above!!!
If it had people on it was one

Fair warning... the next post you make about killing people or sending them back to where they came from, will be your last post here. Please show some restraint, like I'm displaying now :D
I always show restraint. I'll try to bear it in mind but cannot agree to being two faced .If it happens it happens.
Unique in my experience.
they also do not allow any type of music including instruments or loud tv.

Could be the kind of site to take a couple of kids for a weeks holiday, the likes of Haven or Parkdean with nightly entertainment a pool and near the beach at say £30 a night = £210 for a weeks family holiday, a bargain I think.

Why? We travel throughout Europe, never book and move on whenever we like. Just prefer the security of stopping on a site. Have bikes and legs which I use. Didn’t say I used taxis etc., just they are there if you need them. Seen a lot of Motorhomers hiring cars. Nothing in the rules to say you have to park on waste ground or car parks to be a “true” Motorhomer. Nothing wrong with Caravanners either! Anyway isn’t that all a motorhome is?

I haven't been on a campsite in years ...the last time I enquired at one was back in 2016 as my mum and sister were staying on roseview site in oban ...we were all heading to mull the next day and I stopped by the site to visit them.
I had a vw t4 trophy at the time with toilet and shower on board.

I was in their van for a total of 20 minutes when mr warden came round asking when i was leaving....my van was parked on road outside.

I said I'd be about an hour just having a coffee and a chat about next days plans

He left and returned 15 minutes later insisting I had to go as I was using his facilities...despite me having not left my sisters van lol

I then asked how much it would be if I stayed overnight ...i was told £27 no electric £32 with electric

I declined and I left ....a bit annoyed as I wasn't using any facilities but my sister had paid over £35 for the night for her and my mum.

I left and drove half a mile up the road and parked in a layby off the road

About an hour later ...it was dark by this time i got a knock on my van door

There was Mr and Mrs warden and two dogs

I got a torent of abuse about being scum and planning to sneak in to their site and use their facilities etc .
Despite me informing them I had an on board toilet and shower ...there were no signs to say I couldn't park there ...was causing no harm or obstruction

He then tried to tell me it was private property etc etc.....it wasnt ...just a normal road

He then said he was calling the police...i told him to carry on

He then said he would tell them I had tried to steal water and use their showers etc

All lies

There may well be cheaper cls etc around but you need to be a member to use them and i refuse to encourage them

There are so many problems in your free for all philosophy gus
I've been doing this for some time and witnessed every kind of liberal approach and attitude toward motorhomers.
Nothing works apart from a height barrier. Problem is when motorhomes are given free unfettered use of a beauty spot they take it over as their own leaving the other 97% of the paying holiday makers without access. Not only that, because they don't want to move to case someone bags their prime spot, they just distroy the area with their polution costing a fortune to clear up. How many such areas would you like me to name.

I thought we were talking about UK. I totally agree with your comments but UK towns just do not have the amount of space to allow for everyone to park huge Motorhomes wherever and whenever they choose.
I have not read all the thread but disagree on this point a 5 minute walk from the centre of Chester you can park for £1.50 overnight on the car park on the banks of the River Dee fully gated and safe walk the riverbank go and explore the City Walls so much going on.
It's never best to rule out things without knowing what they are like.

What's the problem with kids? We were all one once Or may be not some or they've just forgot they were.
What's the difference between a FLT motor homer and some one from the Travelling community we all seem to despise? I can't see a difference, except the travellers probably have more coin in their pockets.
I use sites when I want I don't use them if I don't want. I tour Europe regularly and seldom book in advance. Freedom to choose is different to being tight fisted.
There are many, many beautiful sites in the UK and abroad so please do not diss them all as some have already.
Everyone is free to choose how they use their motor homes but as said previously once the behaviour of some affect Joe Publics view and reaction to the motor home community then in my view it is time to think again.

Sounds wonderful. I’m making notes of these lovely sounding places. Promised myself a revisit to Chester. Is this car park easily found?

I think we have all met Wardens (or warders) like this. Best thing to do is write letter of complaint to appropriate authority to deal with. I have and it was dealt with promptly and satisfactorily.

Do Parks and play grounds produce revenue ? how about lay bys, free car parks, schools hospitals libaries etc etc.We all pay taxes so governments can provide facilities that are needed..This argument would be laughed at in most of Europe..Tourism brings in so much hidden revenue,,BUSBY.
The difference is those amenities you describe are generally provided by the council for use by the local populace using local rates paid by the locals. Not a facility for someone to come along on the odd occasion to use, probably for free judging by the comments on here, someone who has not contributed anything to the local community. They may decide to spend a little something in the shops or pubs or they may not.
And as a final note, who decides which towns should provide these facilities or are all towns expected to do so just in case you wish to break your journey to rest your head?

Pekepal . It's the Roodee we are taking the van in next week though we live local, going Tuesday /Wednesday and taking up all the offers of 50% off food. We went past on the bus today and there were Seven Motorhomes parked up and I bet half were foreign vans, they always find these little gems.
I'll post some photos next week.

We have all paid income tax etc which goes to Central Government who then fund local authorities..I pay council tax in Amber Valley so should not use a library in Derby according to your thinking or a hospital in Nottm..BUSBY.

I think we should all declare ourselves Gay and campaign for Rights for Gay Motorhomers.

The councils will throw millions at our cause.

Aires in France Stellaplaz in Germany and Camperstops in Spain ,,,many are far removed from car parks,, They don't seem to blighted with vandalism and are very seldom abused..Why if they work all over Europe are they frowned upon so much in UK.I use a combination of sites,Aires etc.Nothing set in stone. Why are people so critical of others life style when it doesn't affect themselves..This debate is very similar to Cyclist v motorist v Cyclist.Could only happen in UK. BUSBY.

Why or how are they making a mess 🤔🤷‍♂️
I wondered how that conclusion was made.
Just blame shifting.
“It’s not us camping in our MH that are the problem. It’s MTB riders camping that litter”
🤔
Or there’s CCTV - no, it’s the former.

My view is this ....many who stay in a campsite only spend in the campsite. They park up and stay on site....sit outside drink and bbq theyve spent there money on the site.<snip>
What campsite have you stayed on to form that opinion?

Campsite users I meet use sites like I do.
As a base in the area to go off exploring.

........and here's one more article from today Tam which calls for an aire style system in parts of Scotland to help with human waste management.

The only problem to the plan is that campsite owners (Pitlochry in this example) are insisting that an aire-style system would be highly derogatory to their businesses models.

........and so the argument goes around in circles again!

There was a piece on Radio 4 this afternoon about folks experience of UK holidays in this present situation. It seemed fairly balanced, both locals and visitors having their say. One thing that got mentioned more than once was the poor manners and aggressive behaviour from visitors, there was a consensus that these "types" would normally be in Benidorm or Magaluf this time of year ?

The only problem to the plan is that campsite owners (Pitlochry in this example) are insisting that an aire-style system would be highly derogatory to their businesses models.
They stopped overnight parking on Hayling Island because the local campsite complained.

When are these thick campsite owners are going to understand that the motorhomes that are happy to pay for the car park are very unlikely to use their site.

Just saw this bit of news

"Since the easing of lockdown restrictions, hundreds of young people have been gathering, drinking alcohol in large groups in Cardiff Bay.
Cardiff Council said it had removed 28 tonnes of waste at a cost of £4,000."

I'm in shock they didn't blame Motorhomes.

What campsite have you stayed on to form that opinion?

Campsite users I meet use sites like I do.
As a base in the area to go off exploring.
Everyone to their own. I don't criticize how you camp please let me camp my way.If we all used campsites 100 percent they would be rammed and let's face it if they had a monopoly their fees would surge.BUSBY.

I think we should all declare ourselves Gay and campaign for Rights for Gay Motorhomers.
