More grief about motorhomes

One more from today. This type of assessment will inevitably act as a catalyst for a much tighter control of tourist activity in Scotland:

Why not send them comment suggesting they develop facilities rather than moaning about it ... I just did ...link to their contract page here, really easy to do ...

<Broken link removed>
Done.

Oh look resorts to insults because he has no argument

The difference is my old shit cart as you put it has increased in value 😉
And I don't worry about using water either

You'll need more for your ego of course.
It does help in life if you have a sense of humour🤪 Never mind!
Ill leave it there, coz I know you could have an argument in an empty room😀
Ill go and polish my ego! Take care

Thing is ....you just ain't funny 🤷‍♂️ maybe you should let jess the mutt do the forum comments maybe they'd have more success.

As for arguing ...nah I just can't be arsed with folk who know nowt but still feel compelled to assume what other folk do.
And those who attempt to antagonise like yerself.

Interesting, I am a vegetarian, I really do make my own bread and take my own beer and food, and Like most its the supermarket that benefits along with the campsite owner and thier employees along with the council and business rates they pay. So it may be 1 owner of a campsite but the local economy does benefit.

And of course, it is not true that those who use sites only ever stay on sites! We stay on site one day out of ten, we visit towns and we visit attractions. Northernraider is just grinding his axe because he can. As someone who takes, he is never going to agree with sites. But the reality is, those who park for free, put very little into local economies.

Really.......how did you reach that conclusion!
We like to use CL's from time to time, but we really like to be in places where we are alone, places that the dogs can run about, NOT run riot though.
That does not mean we don't spend money locally though, of course we do.
For a start you need to top up on supplies and for me eating out or getting a take-away is nice because part of the holiday is less cooking.
Then there is fuel for the MH & if we need it gas.

If you can't make your argument without still being uber-nice and congenial then your style of posting is wrong. The sniping in this thread is not fun. Lose the angry attitude or don't log in. Thanks.

Yeah OK

I spent just shy of 10k in europe last year

Thats money the uk didn't get as it hasn't caught up with europe.

I'll likely do the same later this year

Not really a reply to mrsambulancekids post but to the one she was referring to, which I can’t connect to.

Our spend for a curtailed trip early this year was a total of £2222.82. £73.80 of this was spent on sites, aires and water. The rest was spent in the local economies of France, Spain and Portugal.

I didn't realise we were discussing your wife

I meant the dog

As for your motorhome well when you can post some pics of it for us to judge you can have a go at other peoples.

Never heard so much shit in one go , painting every one that does not use a camp site the same way , saying that they put very little into the local economy, I guess the one week we've been away and not stayed at one site , but yet we have spent around 1k , where did that go ?? Ohh let me enlighten you , petrol stations , supermarkets , restaurants etc , chains or local ,they still employe local people , who pay tax , as well as supporting them business to pay their rates and taxes..
Now where's my popcorn again..

This is indeed so true. The UK has to catch up with the likes of France and Spain.

And they us. Because they have nothing like our CL system. We have French campers who tell us how much they love our CLs. We've met them on the road who have told us the same. theGoogle maps explosions of the last ten years means most every CL is there to be discovered and with a dozen reviews in three languages. We have nearly 5000 of them and the worst one of them is better than the majority of dusty French car park aires, which number so many.

Like many people I love wild camping probably more than most, I do it for the camping. I'm not however a free loading tosser, for them its all about saving money. The test, find the very best beautiful wild camping position that ever existed, a utopia, have it overlooking a white sandy beach and charge £30 a night to stay. The true free loader will run a mile. While I'd pay in a flash

I agree, we love the CL's because they are quieter AND we love to wild camp because we can get right out of the way & the dogs can have fun.....total black darkness at night is great too.
If we are on a longer holiday it would be a mix between the two.

I would deffo say I'm a FLT , however today whilst looking for a free spot to park up in Spain we stumbled upon a place for a whopping 5 Euro a night with this view.
As ianthebuilder would say ,,. "bargain"

The problem i have with cl's is i believe you have to join a club to use them.
A club that actively opposes the creation of aires so I'm reluctant to support them in any way ....out of principle
The same way I'll never set foot in another witherspoons as long as I breathe.

For me its a mix of saving money and being away from everyone else .....i can find stunning beach location wild spots where i wouldnt have to pay £30 a night.

But its also just the fact I don't think any parking space in the world is worth £30
Or at least it isnt to me .....and thats all I can go on

I owned and restored vw camper vans for years but when they got to the point that folk were paying upwards of 20k for them i moved on to something else

It all comes down to what you value something at .....i suppose the more money you have that value changes

But I also could not afford to pay £30 per night

I chose to live in my van fulltime because it was cheaper than living in a house paying bills and in lots of debt.

So yeah I am a freeloader in that context ...ill save money where I can
Money isn't something that ever impressed me i just want enough to get buy and live ...no desire to be anything more.

It is only a utopia to you & any that think it is? As I've said before £30/night x 7 days week = far more than the state pension pays = you can't live in the UK
Because they have nothing like our CL system.
That's the problem in having to join something that isn't of any use to most people to access them.
If you only use a couple of cl/cs's then the membership fee has to be ÷number of nights
We have French campers who tell us how much they love our CLs.
I must admit in all the 000's of miles I've travelled in the Uk I have never seen a French motorhome? :unsure:Dutch ,yes & a couple of spanish & the odd Belgian

That’s because they are all using sites! We’ve seen plenty.

The more appropriate equivalent is France Passion. You pay your €35 a year and have access to Chateau, Vineyards, Farms, etc throughout France. €0 per night unless you decide to buy some of their own produce.

Except most sites don't charge £30. esp out of school holidays
