MOBY GOES TO TURKEY. A tam and pups adventure.

Tam, your blog just keeps on giving. Brilliant, thanks
Ps. Didn't realise you were so religious :giggle:
I'm not religious lol. But I think the wee chapels are cute. I admire some of the work people put in to churches, cathedrals etc and even these wee chapels but it's mostly just the architecture etc I like and the decoration etc.

I'm in porto chelli now having lunch. I uses the self service launderette in kilada , gave the van a good spring clean aswell as my normal laundry I did all the bedding and the throws etc , which gave me a chance to take all the carpets out and give the van a once over with the hoover and brush. Gave all Me woodwork a polish. Milo looses a ton of hair a day so it won't last long but at least it's clean for one day. I'm trying to decide now whether I want to follow the coast around visiting porto and methana etc or if I'm just going to skip that corner and head up to epidaurus.. I've seen most of these places before and as the weather is starting to get colder anyway I'm not sure it's worth trailing round there just to have a quick look about. I'm wanting to visit epidaurus and ancient corinth etc before heading east .. so I think missing it is winning my head argument just now.

Right before I post up pics of the day etc I'm looking to quiz those of you who know your stuff with investments and interest rates etc . Finally had my inheritance paid out from solicitor and I'm looking to stick it in a higher interest account. I have the raisin app and looking on that I can get 5.30% on a 30 day notice account or 4.70% on an easy access account, for a fixed term I could get up to 5.95% but I don't really want to open another fixed term one just now just in case I want to buy something before my other 2 investments mature In April and July.

So my question is just has anyone found anything better than that recently?

If not I'll probably just stick it in that 30 day notice one for now as that seems pretty good .

So pics of the day ... not many from porto chelli

And then I headed north east to ancient epidavros ... on the beach .

Surprisingly I'm the only camper here. Not the warmest , down to 11° today and its only 7° tonight. I've got the fire on brrr

The previous/original owner's wife was from NZ. She may have come from a place of that name. I got a librarian friend in Auckland to research the name and you are right about the 'Rua' bit, but I now cannot remember what she found about 'whata'.

As you probably know the 'wh' is pronounced like an 'f'.
By a strange coincidence, I came within about 20kms of Ruawhata yesterday on my travels around the North Island.
It’s a tiny hamlet in the middle of dairy country but quite close to the famous Tui Brewery. It’s not particularly close to the sea though.

5.30% 30 day notice account seems pretty good, I take it it's a variable rate ? Check they have FCSC protection and you don't exceed the 85k limit on protection, and spread.
Word on the street is interest rates will drop later in the year, so you may wish to consider a fix or an ISA depending on your longer term plans for the money

I like the flat twin, plunger sprung Beemer!

Not my old bikes of knowledge but I'm guessing 1950's, from the telescopic forks but still with a plunger rear end. At least I think it's not a swingarm, bit hard to tell with the glass reflection.

Yeah it's variable interest and it will more than likely go down now rather than up. But I'll get more interest than I'm getting from my bos savings account .

Everything on raisin is covered by the financial authority up to 85k , I have 2 other savings through them but on fixed terms , one ending in April and one in July so I didn't want to put this in a fixed term just in case I needed to access it.

I have other savings in my nationwide savings account for emergency access if need be but I only get 3.75% on that.

Depending if I decide to buy a property next year I may need to access funds.

I don't plan to be back in UK till at least July but life has a way of interfering with plans so I want to cover my arse so to speak.

But the 5.30% seems to be the best I can see for relatively easy access. 30 day notice I can live with but after April I'd not need to withdraw it anyway as one of my other ones will have matured.

So a quick read of the Raisin website suggests that money deposited isn't actually with them so protection is down to the institution your money is in... so in theory you could save more than the £85k with Raisin in different accounts/institutions.

Yes that's right. And I already do.

It was Martin Lewis that put me on to it.

Gorgeous scenery again. Would love to visit Greece one day in our van. We are day 2 in Morocco and just finding our feet. Been pigging out on the sweet treats like you 🤣

Probably 1960's I think from my hazy memory. The earlier bikes had a different swinging arm front suspension setup.

It's got very chunky bone. How old do you think it is? It could grow to be quite big🤔.
(I'm not trying to discourage you. I think it's gorgeous. )

The black and white one is mum . 3 potential fathers from what I can see.

They're bigger than ela that's for sure. But not massive .

Going by the pups teeth I'm guessing it's under 12 weeks .. Still has baby teeth and is teething hence the chewing .

I think he's gonna be a bit bigger than ela is when grown. Probably labrador , German she8pherd type size. And I think he's a shepherd/hound mix .

Lovely colours . And sweet natured, but all 5 are very sweet dogs.
Very rarely meet an aggressive stray in Greece. And all in good health too.

I'm very tempted to take the pup. He's the last one.

Big decision though and of course most will tell me not to lol.

One dog is a big life changing decision but once you have one your life isn't your own anyway....additional dogs don't change that. They just cost more obviously.

But you get so much back in return.

You truly are the patron saint of stray dogs👍

Is it actually legal to simply take a stray?
Charities do it all the time , unfortunately they don't have enough capacity to take them all.

These dogs are all living on the street . No collars on any of them unlike many others I see roaming around. Although if I decided I was going to take him I think I'd ask at a few of the shops and cafes that are open here to make sure he doesn't belong to anyone. Ela was on a beach Miles from anywhere but these ones are in the main village.

Locals feed them and look out for them but I think most are happy if they find homes. I suspect there's been quite a few pups and he's the last one .

So dogs aside.

We walked up the hill in epidavros this morning past the ancient amphitheatre and a nice old merc 508 camper

And up to yet another wee Chapel on a hill . With lovely views over the village and coast...in the way back we spotted this good boy looking after the chickens .

Then we headed off again to the wee seaside village of korfos ... just south of corinth

Parked up at the end of the village , just one other camper here , Spanish...not seen the owners as they've been holed up inside since we arrived lol .
