MOBY GOES TO TURKEY. A tam and pups adventure.

Does anyone else have a dog who seems to deliberately wait till your passing a restaurant or cafe before they make a big performance of doing a shit? Because I swear jade does this to me all the time , she has done since the first year I got her it's like she needs a bloody audience and goes out her way to embarrass me . Ela and milo never do this .. just the awkward child

Rained a lot last night and its on and off this morning too so got wet on our morning walkies. Went up through the town but nafplion isn't really that pretty up close.

There's a Welsh boat berthed next door to the Winston Churchill...he's come a long way.

Although I have to say if I was buying a boat this would be more my thing , i couldn't be faffed with all the sails and ropes etc.

Guess the nationalities from left to right ... I'll give you a list later

Think I'm gonna go round and park at koronithas beach for tonight. Need supermarket in town tomorrow but you've to double back from koronithas anyway.
Yes I had a dog like Jade doing it outside bars and restaurants and it is made worse by someone shouting out loud "oi ya dirty bastard" :giggle: (y)

Dear departed Stanley Dog was an absolute master at it! The busier the restaurant the more likely he was to have a poo. No warning, trotting along with his pal Max then suddenly right in front of people eating Stanley drops one and I swear that if he could make it a bit runny and a difficult pick up he would. 🤣🤣

Is the water pump behind fan and possibly that’s causing the issue

Tam

Sorry you are having the electrical and mechanical problems. There is nothing I can add to the advice you are getting.

On your travels I was surprised that you seemed to shoot through Kyparissi so quickly as it is one of my favourite places in Greece. I spent many days there on my boat.

Your parking place is Nafplion is where we were in October and only two other MHs there, so I was surprised to see so many. Perhaps Oct is between Summer and Winter seasons.

When town got flooded in 2005, my mate's family decamped to the upstairs of their house. After a few hours, the inshore rescue boat came by to rescue them. They passed their Labrador out to the RNLI bloke and the dog promptly did a massive turd in the lifeboat ! 🤦‍♂️

That would have been in fear I think, poor dog and poor RNLI bloke

Tam. I know your feeling. We had an otherwise lovely Esterel and had all oils belts etc changed when bought as we knew it hadn’t been used very much by a man in his late 80s. But every time we went anywhere it had a habit of breaking down, four times requiring it to be towed back to a garage, a Mercedes garage. We got to know them well in France. But it was always something tiny cost was only a few euros for a part, but the labour to find it cost a lot more. Thankfully, in those days. ADAC still available to us. So sadly, although the interior was absolutely super, and it was automatic, left hand drive, we sold it.

Vans all sorted for now.

More details later . I'm off to lidl
You can't leave us dangling like that! Are you trying to give some funsters palpitations whilst they await your info! 😄

He does it on purpose, he can see we are all looking at what’s happening and a few of his advisors doing just that and when it’s fixed he thinks boll@@@s l will let them sweat a bit😉
Naw I dinnae...Mondays are busy they're my shopping days , and I was also moving today . I'm just parked up.now so ill update in a bit.

I did say I'd fixed it this morning. So no need for folk sweating etc lol .

More “ smarties “! Spread on the grass for us mere mortals stuck in the cold dank uk. 😂😂😂

OK

So this morning after breakfast and a doggy walk I put the camper up on a very high kerb so I could have a go at changing the belt. As it happens I discovered it was actually easier to fit the belt from above if I removed a few hoses etc ... that gave me some more access. I got the belt I had with me over the fan blades etc and on the pulleys but even with the adjuster wound in as far as it would go the belt was way too slack ,so as I suspected it wasn't really a spare belt but a wrong belt that bodjit bill had obviously bought for the van.

You can see here the adjuster had no more adjustment left

So I had to just put the bits back on the engine and limp the van in to town in search of a parts shop . Driving to that beach the other day was probably not my wisest move as I'd drove down a very long very windy steep road so I had to go back up it to get back to town ... and of course the belt drives the cooling fan on this so the engine was very very hot by the time I got to a parts shop and my expansion tank had blown a bit water out.

But anyway I took the old belt in for measurement and part number sake and they had a match... so I bought 2 belts for €14 which was less than I paid for 1 belt in the UK £15.99

So I then set about fitting it outside the parts shop. Got it on and adjusted, topped up the expansion tank and fired it up , alternator back to charging no probs so I'm guessing taking the leads off the back and cleaning them up also helped. Not a squeak from it so far but I might have to adjust it a bit in a week or so ...but easy now I know how to get to it .... think it was sorted within 30 minutes of getting to the parts shop. So I've got a proper spare now too just in case. I'm still going to get that lead replaced when I can but it's quite heavy cable and I don't have a crimp tool to deal with that so I'll need to get an auto spark or something .

But iys all working fine for now so that's good.

I then headed off to lidl for shopping, I think the Greeks were bored today as a lot of phantom shoppers in lidl just creating Jams but not actually buying anything ...I was in there nearly an hour between the crowds and the checkout queue...but stocked up for another week or so now.

Spotted my ideal vario in the carpark ... this would suit me well but probably way more than I'd be willing to pay for it.

Germans of course. I did try asking the guy about it but he wasn't engaging so I gave up.

Then i drove a bit south to get out the town and stopped here for lunch and to walk dogs

Very windy and drizzling with rain , there's been a change in the weather since I got to nafplion but I kind of expected that.

So I then drove towards kranidi and I'm parked up at the beach parking by the old abandoned hotel where the Belgians etc spent new year. Again I've been here before a few times. There's a few things to see nearby here, the didyma sink holes and franchiti cave. So I'll probably stay here tomorrow night aswell .

Probably be my last week in the peloponnese before I cross the corinth canal and start to head north east... probably going to have a couple of weeks of shitty weather but I need to start making my way round to Turkey as ideally I want to enter Turkey start of February

So I'm glad the van seems to be fixed and I'm glad I fixed it myself. I think the last few years I've been getting more lazy with this , I have always been good at fixing most stuff myself and when younger I'd be out in all weather's doing full engine changes etc in a driveway... I just think the older I get I can't be arsed lol. And of course the old age aches and pains that even I suffer from at my young age don't help ... my back was killing me bent over today doing a 3rd turn at a time of a spanner to adjust up that belt . I find it much harder crawling about on the ground these days . It's not that I don't have the knowledge to fix things ....its pretty straight forward it's just the fear of making the problem worse and becoming stranded etc I think and often more the thought of the job than actually doing it. But I need to stop thinking that way and just get on with it I think . As the garages are often causing me more problems than they're fixing and they're charging a fortune to do it.
