MOBY GOES TO TURKEY. A tam and pups adventure.

The green on the alt cable ends is not a good sign , I have found a few times in the past that the build up of corrosion in the terminal end has broken the electrical contact between the cable core and the terminal . Might be a good place to start .
Yeah I'm thinking that cable really needs replaced. The only problem being there is no extra on it and it's a bugger to access . So if I need them changed I need an auto sparks I think .

Tam, Its OK to walk around talking to yourself, the Germans will think you are on the phone. I still haven’t got used to seeing people doing that here. They’ve usually got something plugged in their lughole too.

Of course,it’s always possible that there is a German equivalent of MHF and word has got round that there’s a 6ft 5in grumpy git who’ll rip your head off if you: wooshbang, make a noise, park within 100 yards, use a jenny, blah blah blah….. ;) ;);):rofl:

lol I haven't ripped anyones head off , when folk have done this stuff I've often moaned to you lot on here about it but not said anything to the offending asshole.

Even the 3 nutters the other night... I didn't have a fallout or lengthy discussion with them I simply refused their entitled request to move... and when they returned a second time I just said nope feck off lol

It's just trying to be helpful - telling you where that investment is needed most...
I've already spent nearly 500 quid on that bloody fault ... and no further forward. I'm still convinced there was nothing wrong with the old alternator too.

And I've had the squeaking fan belt again the last few mornings too .. normally just the first 5 minutes or so then it stops. But either no one can adjust a fan belt correctly or that's just a common fault on this.

In other news good tips on the movies the other night.

I had downloaded oppenheimer already but I downloaded Saltburn and the great escaper both were excellent... Saltburn although a little disturbing at a few scenes was hilarious and a good plot .

I also watched "book club" which was funny , " leave the world behind " which was weird and I downloaded the miniseries "bodies" which I'm watching now.

I also downloaded the first series of reacher and the movies , I couldn't get the second series unfortunately

I really do think I'm the only Scottish if not the only British person in Greece in a campervan this year. Apart from that one guy I met in Areopoli from Cumbria I haven't seen a single UK registered camper. I'm in nafplion now and there's possibly 20 -25 campers, motorhomes between the 3 parking places around the town and every single one is German 😭😭 and I swear there has not been one friendly German on this trip since the couple I met on the ferry , they go out there way to avoid eye contact and if you say hello 9 times out of ten it goes completely unacknowledged... I don't know what's wrong with the buggers. Apart from the 3 idiots in kyparissi who wanted me to move to accommodate them I've had less than 3 words from any Germans on this trip. I've seen a handful of French, and a few Belgian vans but I mean 3 or 4 but less than 10 I think . I've only seen maybe 3 or 4 Dutch too. And a couple of Greek owned ones.

It's really feckin weird.

And the worst part is most of the Greek locals assume I'm also German....quite a few I've spoke to have started talking to me in German....others I've overheard making comments while looking at me and I've heard them saying deutsche etc

I'm gonna have to stock up on Scottish t shirts or a hat or something because when I'm away from the van every bugger thinks I'm another kraut.

I cannae be having that....we Scots are welcomed worldwide lol .

Be different if I was walking round with someone else then folk would overhear my fabulous Scottish accent but I can't walk around talking to myself ill get locked up.

It's a tragedy an outrage
Have a look at yourself in a mirror, that might give an idea.:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I had this big fat German on a pitch next to me in Spain once.

The electricity kept tripping and he kept insisting it was my van causing it.

I was patient but my wife had to intervene in the end because I wanted to rip his head off:mad:

Only ever had that problem once, at Bonterra, lovely electrical bloke came to see what problem was.
Unhooked all the electrics from the offending bollard and plugged them in singly, to the screaming and shouting of one camper, insisting it was us. We were plugged in with no mishaps, then he plugged in Mrs screamer's it immediately tripped, pointed to us it is them 🤣
Campsite bid insisted in checking out their electrics, we had had rain, they had an extension lead, normal household in there awning completely under water, lucky not to have been electrocuted.
Nationality of the offender with nary an apology.

most obnoxious woman i have ever met on a campsite, her husband/partner was quiet as a mouse.

So it's been an interesting day . I woke up this morning 07.26 to milo throwing up in my bed ..... after I'd given him a lecture and done a pee I opened the blinds just in time to grab the camera and catch this

So I forgave him ...cleaned that up , had breakfast ...cup o tea and a prepacked croissant( I'm getting used to those as easier to keep than fresh ones) only one as I'm trying to lose some weight again.

Our pals came round for breakfast although the big white one I've named ulysses just wants cuddles really ... the other one hercules was more interested in the food

Also watched a kormorant fishing this morning. Clever birds these but greedy buggers , I saw that same bird eat 7 bloody fish ....its no even that big .

We then filled up with water and headed off .... early start due to milos puking .. we drove up the coast ,I completely missed the junction to head to nafplion and was half way to Corrinth before I realised something wasn't right... so I then drove through miles of orange groves to nea kios ( some oranges may have fallen through my cab window by accident lol ) ,I'd no sooner parked up than some gadgy came over to the camper trying to sell me wiper blades ...now I actually needed wiper blades but he had those single piece ones and this van has weird wiper arms ...the blades are actually bolted on ( I know its weird) so he didn't speak english but I tried to tell him they wouldn't fit ...anyway he wasn't taking no for an answer lol and he had the insert ripped out my drivers side one before I could stop him ....Next thing he's taking the ones he had apart aswell as mine and he's changing the rubber insert on my blades ...he pissed about for ages changing them and getting me to squirt the windows etc and he's messing around with my bloody jets ... that was amusing as it took him 8 attempts to get them right 🤣🤣... so then when he was finally done I said how much .... if I had time I'd get you all to guess how much he tried to hit me for lol as you'd never get it but to save time he's got his phone out lol and in the calculator he types out €69 ....when I'd stopped laughing I said no ...you're crazy ... he rabbitted on for 5 minutes in Greek the only word I understood was silicone lol. Anyway he asks me to type in my price on his phone.

I entered €10 ....5 more minutes of rambling and again silicone silicone lol .

He then types in €30 ...I laughed again and said no ... way too expensive ..again I get handed the phone and again I typed in €10

To cut a long story short after him doing 25,20,then 15 he got €10

They'll probably fall off sometime soon

We then had a wee walk about. The place was heaving today must be because its epiphany

The carpark was filling up fast and the Greeks take no prisoners ,I was getting blocked in before my eyes so I jumped in the van and forced my way out horn blasting frequently.

We escaped and headed on to nafplion....it was then I noticed my wee volt meter was showing the battery at 11v so when we arrived at nafplion I set about having a look as i posted earlier... that will need further investigation as its unresolved but it was really warm and lots of locals parked next to me who I think I was bothering with the engine revving etc so I'll look at it again later.

Quite a few vans here all German... we went for a walk about etc and took a few pics , saw another kormorant perched on a boat ...made a good photie, also saw a big sailing ship called the "sir Winston Churchill " in the harbour , Greek registered I think but I suspect its a brit owner 😉

It's not the volt meter misreading by any chance.
Nah I hoped it was that but when I put the proper volt meter on the battery it reads 12.48v with engine running. I did get it up to 13.45v after I'd messed around with wires .. but since I got it sorted in matera it normally reads well over 14v when I'm driving... so I reckon it's a dodgy wire or connection. If I can just get it cleaned up enough to do me just now it would be another job for Turkey having new cables fitted.

I've been led to believe there's a few good places in Turkey that does work on campers etc . And it will be cheaper than getting it fixed in Greece.

The 'Sir Winston Churchill' still looking good at 57ish 👍

I would be inclined to put that link on the B2B to drop it to 20 amps, as if it is a problem with corrosion on the cables the higher the load the bigger the volt drop will be. At least then you stand a better chance of getting more charge into the starter battery.

That doesn't look anything like the one in Tam's photo.

It's a cracking looking boat i have to say. I'd never have thought it was that old.

Thing is the last week or so the b2b won't have done much anyway as not used much power , TV hasn't been on as I've been watching my tablet.. so battery is at around 100ah in the morning and solar has it full before 10am usually.

But by an absolute miracle I was just out with the dogs and a van drove in and its a brit ..... I nearly gave them a fanfare welcome..

So I popped over to say hello ... matt and his girlfriend from Plymouth... View attachment 851745

Had a bit of a natter and yeah I'm the first brit they've seen in 3 weeks too , and funnily enough they've had the Same experience with the Germans.... I can only assume all the brits are in Spain.... lack of imagination and adventure I think lol. It's weird though as to escape the 90days from Spain you've either to endure Morocco or go home . Whereas there's loads of non shengen countries around here.

They're heading to Turkey later too but I think they're out of shengen time before me . I'll be another week in peloponnese I think then I'll be heading over the canal and making my way east .

No, the rest of the German nation are in Spain!

That’s weird, we had exactly the same thing happen to us in a Lidl car park on Crete, even down to the same spiel and amount being asked. Was he a shortish, stout, swarthy bloke by any chance? I’m certain he’d deliberately damaged the end of one wiper rubber before I could get out of the cab and round to dealing with him. After he’d done his full sales pitch I fekked him off in no uncertain terms.

If you want to get away from the Nafplio port car park there’s a good beach park up just around the headland at Karathonas.
