MOBY GOES TO TURKEY. A tam and pups adventure.

It's a coast guard plane ...other than that I've no idea. Everything here is in Italian and unlike many other countries they don't provide an English translation so I've no idea what half the stuff is lol. Don't understand most of the road signs either 🤣
Agree with the road comemnts made by you and others. We even found some stretches of toll roads in poor condition but so much better than any other road network in Italy. My biggest disappointment, beleive it or not was the Ice Cream. Itialian Ice Cream used to be world famous and I was looking forward to tasting some original ice cream but what I got (Which was very nice BTW) was a mass produced sort of bog standard Gelato. We Did manage to get some very good pasta though.

I've a confession to make ...it seems I was on the wrong road coming through cinque terre which is why I missed all the villages 🤦‍♂️ but I've been told it was a nightmare to park anywhere anyway and you had to hike down to the villages from the main road as not suitable for anything bigger than a car. I can't be arsed going back as the road I was on was bad enough. We've now just arrived at a spot near Lerici, there's about 6 other motorhomes here. Just trying to find the 2 paths mentioned that takes you down to the beaches as we're on top of a cliff.
did wonder as we spent quite a bit of time there a few years ago, not motorhoming though. Had the ugliest looking tastiest fish I have ever had in one of the villages, was on the menu as grilled local fish.
edited to add we found a place that was stillmaking it's own churns in full view, was delicious but no idea where we were, except Italy 🤣

Yeah I expected it be around €2.00 a litre but it's the Same or cheaper than France. And cheaper than the UK. It was over £1.60 round me

😯 Cheapest in Javea, 😉 maybe we should fill up ready for when we leave in May .

Great photos Tam, agree about their driving technique, especially when you stop at traffic lights and get surrounded by scooters, by the time they have gone you end up jumping a red light. :Eeek:😎 Bob.

Aye I really should have researched cinque terre more I think. But the roads are very confusing so somehow I ended up on a very steep very windy road that didn't take me on the coast but on a cliff top . It was hell . No stopping places anywhere so no photos taken.

The disadvantage of left hand drive when solo travelling is you can't take the same opportunities to take pics put window while moving.

Yep the scooters are the worst anywhere, they're almost suicidal they pass you on both sides and herd round you at traffic lights ...and they're not that fast at pulling off either I've nearly hit a few

Nice view from this parking spot , I found the path to one small little cove but it led nowhere else and never did find the other one so we just had a walk along the cliff road. Nice views though and should get a lovely sunset right out my wiindscreen. Going to stay here tonight and head to pisa tomorrow.

We're sooooo jealous.
Love Italy. a few years ago we wanted to do the Amalfi coast but were told that the main road was unsuitable for motorhomes and about the narrow roads down to the coast so we left the van in Pompeii and got the train to Sorrento and a hotel for a couple of nights. Went to Portofino and along the coast by boat. I was sick so we got the bus back along the cliffs. Scary! It was magical in April but I bet would be totally mad later.

Be careful in Pisa Tam, notorious for Motorhome break in's.
Yeah that seems to be the case everywhere in Italy, most of the park4night reviews say about breakins. Not sure we will be there long . I've earmarked a couple of spots that's within 15 minute walk to the tower. Not sure if there's much else there to see. Thankfully this van has an alarm.

Loads more fabulous pics Tam! And the weather looks amazing. Thanks for posting. :giggle:

Safe travels. (y)

If you are heading that way and can find anywhere to park, Siena is a lovely city, on a more modest scale than Florence.

Tam, your post is an example of the reason I asked for captions, so that you could tell us if that aircraft is a Piaggio, which is my guess.

If you did not read the blurb on the post can you please go back and look for us?:LOL:
Piaggio P166. (y)

Photos are just stunning … a million miles away from Scotland just now - the wind was battering my classroom windows today as we watched the dark grey clouds roll in from Arran …
Stop being stupid. You'll catch your death of cold. Get inside the classroom!

Pisa is very nice, it's also very busy even at this time of year but a very beautiful city and I'm glad I've finally seen it. The cathedral and Tower are stunning. I thought for once I had found a cathedral that didn't have scaffolding on it but no ..it did , fortunately on the not so photographed side. There were African looky looky men everywhere and despite elas best efforts a few still got close to me , gave me the usual patter of nice dogs where you from I love Scotland love dogs blah blah blah , I got given 2 free gifts a bracelet and a belt....till off course I had no money for the babies and suddenly they were not gifts anymore lol. I wouldn't mind if they just stuck to usual forced sales methods but I refused to take the items several times before having them thrust upon me then snatched back when I said I wasn't carrying any cash 🤣🤣🤣. Anyway I got some nice photos of the cathedral. Baptism Hall and the famous Bell tower, and then a few from the piazza del cavalleri. One thing I say about Italy is there is many beautiful people about ... the eye candy is second to none.

How many have you had, looked like you were pissed when you took the pic of the Tower, looks like it's leaning over.
Yeah and that was despite the hundreds of tourists all trying to straighten it back up. I wonder if any of them stop and think everyone else has taken those same cheesy photos pushing it straight or pushing it over lol. They were all doing it.

Admittedly had ela been working the camera I'd have taken one too 😁
