We drove to susa this morning. Had a walk around the historic quarter , been here a few times before.

I then popped in to lidl for a few supplies before driving on towards Torino , we are now stopped for lunch in Avigliana.


I'd say food shopping in Italy is about the same as UK prices just now if not a bit cheaper. Certainly the fruit and veg etc is cheaper and I bought a whole chicken for £2.99 so not too bad. The fuel is the same price as France around here €1.75 which is £1.53 so slightly cheaper than it was in the UK.

Parked in asti for tonight . Just a carpark but it's quiet and free. We will head for the coast tomorrow most likely.

Decided not to go via susa last year, was scared there would be too many narrow twisty mountainous roads with deep drops, would have been in a right state. Would love to be told I had no reason for fears.

All good posts Tam but how the hell do you do it? Look after yourself personal stuff,walk the Dogs as the have regular ratrine type needs,drive hundreds of miles/km,Take enough photos to fill an Album,Post on here and Polar steps,carry out running repairs,feed yourself three times a day. Your day appears to be 48hours long.

I'm never jealous I dinnae want a posh van.

We're now in genova, had to give in and use the toll road because satnav quoted me 4.5hours to get here otherwise, using toll road it took 2 hours 20 minutes which was bad enough. Toll road still shit cost me €14 to do 148km , all roadworks and tunnels. Speedlimits all over the place my satnav told me I was always speeding yet everyone was overtaking me including the trucks. I might have to lose the truck/motorhome profile on the satnav for Italy as I think there's a lot of places trucks aren't allowed , I'm constantly getting Warnings on the screen. Also every parking place seems to be either charged or have numerous reports about breakins etc so I'm not sure I'll hang about anywhere near here. Just stopped for lunch but I'm not even sure I want to risk leaving the van to walk the dogs here.
