MOBY GOES TO TURKEY. A tam and pups adventure.

As far as I can see you are allowed 2 dogs tax free so you should be able to take more if you pay the tax.
Also without a Titer test they can quarantine the dogs for 21 days also rabies jab has to have been done in the last year they don't accept 3 year ones.
The article I read said not all border posts enforce it so looks like the best option is to try different border posts.

I'm in now 1 hour 47 minutes later but I'm stressed and need to eat. Coughing my lungs up as those absolute twats had me in tears so I need to chill and calm down ..I'll update you later

Turkey is refusing me entry with 4 dogs they are trying to tell me you can't enter turkey with more than 2 dogs .

No one said anything when I entered Turkey from Greece or when I left Turkey despite them checking dogs passports
That’s just because they want a sealed envelope Tam, is there a different entry point somewhere ?

Good idea to take a refresh break it helps to think through things more clearly.

Here’s wishing your sorted and through into Turkey.

Go on protest, stop eating Turkey at Xmas. That will teach them. 😂
Glad your over the border Tam, I bet a back handed would have got you across easier. 👍
I don’t read anything that says Tam has actually crossed into Turkey.

Just he is taking a breather and reporting later.

I do hope he has been successful but it is still not clear.

See Tam's post above yours - he's already back in Turkey, thankfully!
Is he? Well that’s good news, thought he was still stuck after trying for a few hours👍

So he's back in Turkey otherwise he'd still be trying to get back in!

Hi Tam have you tried honey and lemon, manuka honey if you can get it. It helps to break down the mucus. Hope you feel better soon.(y)

Manuka - yeh right!
I remember reading that there is 10 times more Manuka honey sold than is actually produced. Not enough flowering bushes or bees.
Doubt turkey has the types of health food shops that sell the branded stuff.
Locally produced Wil be just as good.

Well what a shit of a day its been today..

It started first thing when I took dogs out for their morning pee and found 3 small puppies had been dumped overnight ... there were 5/6 adult strays around where I parked yesterday but no.pups and no females with any sign of just having pups either. All had ear tags and were really friendly. I'd fed them all last night and planned to feed them this morning ... 2 had slept under my van last night. So this morning these 3 tiny wee pups had appeared .. I gave them some water and food and had a hunt around for a mum but couldn't find her so I think the car I heard coming in late last night at around midnight might have dumped them.

When I was having my breakfast and googling shelters in georgia I saw a jogger approach them and he was picking each up and checking them like he was looking for male/female etc then put them down again and jogged along beach ...2 of the pups went following him . I then went for a walk with my dogs and when we came back one of the pups was gone .. I still couldn't find the mum and the only shelters I could find were in Tbilisi. I think the jogger might have taken one of them , there were 2 women walking dogs so I went to speak to them and drew their attention to the pups .. they spoke English and said they would try to contact the local authority that tags all the dogs to see if they could do something. There wasn't anything else I could do so we left reluctantly.

Breaks my heart how people can be so bloody heartless. I really hope the women sort something for them as they're so little and just 2 of them now , the other dogs there were all good natured etc but not sure they'll look after pups that small

So I then headed for the border expecting a smooth crossing

It's a bit of a faff this border anyway .. you drive to first window georgia side.. a guy standing before the window wants to look inside so I let him , said before I opened side door that there were dogs , opened door blu standing inside and the guy jumps back way over reacting she hadn't made a sound . Waves to shut door.. goes to window , then want passport, driver licence , v5 ... they take my photo with a camera .... guy sits staring at passport for a fortnight , then the licence turns it over and over and over ... a good 5 minutes wasted.. then hands them back not a word spoken just a wave . Ignorant git.

Drive on and another window . Passport again ...this guy scans it ...then stamped it ... and again a wave on . So then you come to Turkey booth... again out the van , passport , licence , v5 ... this guys more pleasant .. and quick .. checks them stamps passport and says welcome to Turkey... then as I get in the van a scruffy wee git is standing just in front of the booth before customs . He barks at me to open side door . I did he grunts mutters and barks , dog passports , car passport , my passport and licence . I think feck sake how many times . And then once he's slowly flicked through all the passports he gave me the only 2 dogs bollocks. He doesn't speak english so it's then a 10 minute back n forth with Google translate me asking him why no one told ne anything about that when I entered from Greece or left to go in to Georgia.. he was just an unpleasant little shit .. and he typed eventually only 2 go back to georgia . At this point I lost it and started shouting which was probably not the best thing . And a woman came out one of the booths , I'd hoped she spoke English but didn't but at least she had the voice translater on her phone so we could chat easier ... again I explained I'd came in to Turkey in January with 4 dogs and despite it also being a fiasco with x Ray etc no one had ever said anything about only 2 dogs if they had I wouldn't have come In. She just kept saying that was the rule and they couldn't let me in ... said I'd need to turn around or leave 2 of my dogs ...she actually said sell 2 of my dogs on first translation but when I lost it and got emotional she said it was a mistake and meant I'd have to.leave 2 and come back for them which I told her was not a feckin option . I told her I wanted to speak to a superior , her boss whoever as they were effectively putting me in danger as if I couldn't get through Turkey my only way home was through Russia. So these 3 guys then turned up , everyone of them went through the dogs passports and my passport ...one guy kept sticking his fingers up saying 2 dogs 2 dogs ... I honestly wanted to smack them at this point . Really scary stuff , they were all tallikhg back n forth with the first guy and he was waving his arms about and pointing at the van etc .. and then all of a sudden he just picked up all the passports my v5 etc and just thrust them at my chest and said go ... and walked off . So I got out of there sharpish .

So now I'm really pissed off at Turkey... I've just had a nightmare of a day and the north part black sea coast is shite too ... I tried 11 different park4night and ioverlander spots between the border and where I'm finally parked up at surmene and all were terrible , filthy lots of rubbish, flooded or right next to.the road... the one I'm at is the best of the bunch but still right beside main road and there's a dead dolphin washed up on the beach which isn't pleasant but it was after 6 when I finally got parked up. Think I'll head inland tomorrow and see what I can find .

Fortunately the border with Bulgaria doesn't require titre tests etc and I can't see any mention of dog quantities but I took 3 to Bulgaria before and no one said anything so will see.

But looks like Turkey and Georgia might just be off my list of countries to come back to as I'm not going through that again .

Border bureaucracy is just the worst... ignorant jobsworths who delight in making life as stressful as possible for no purpose.

Glad you're now through and hopefully a short drive with blue skies will let you regain your equilibrium.

Tough leaving the pups behind. Wonder if you were targeted as a dumping spot because someone saw you already had dogs...
Presumably they could have a deserted spot to abandon them.

Sleep well, you're still recovering from your cold.

Glad your sorted Tam. Why so many checks at one border.
