But not valid for that particular vehicle.

You’ll probably find it very difficult to insure a road going vehicle without a valid driving license for said vehicle.

Never been asked by an insurance company to provide mine even when I had a prang in France in the RV they just paid up.

I have just joined this group and am a little disappointed the direction this post has taken.
Same as most newbies- jumped in about the 9th page to post a comment! Why didn’t you read the thread from beginning of page one, then comment!?

Ive never been asked to provide one, except a small wandering outside the legal limit here and there by our friends in blue.

I am however always asked if I have a license, since when and if I have points or pending fines etc.

I seem to remember when we had these licences

It just said you could drive a motorhome big or small. ? Bob.

Oh and road roller track laying vehicles. ?

I still have one somewhere and a group 1 hgv a slightly darker cover .
Along with an old international driving permit ,that thousands of foreigners driving on our (UK) roads is all they have

If they have one at all!!

He was quoting Olley. 15 years ago it was a wide held belief that an RV of any weight could be driven on a car licence Oh the forum discussions we had :D

C1+E was also 12,5Tonnes as well until it had to be equalled with eu & reduced to 8,25T under grandfather's rights.

i still have one.
Yes would have been a lot more if it was someone they didn't like.

I have to own up & tell the truth also. Every time I apply for insurance or just do quotes online I have to lie. Unfortunately spanish rules mean that they can't comprehend that I passed my test at 17 , minimum age is 18 here, so it isn't possible to continue. So you have to lie, even with an agent. It's all downhill from there:giggler:

OK, if we’re admitting to motoring offences here....

I once owned a Morris Marina.

I once had a Morris Ital van ?

What a piece of s*** that was.

Had an MGB engine I was told.
Pulled like a train going up hills in top, ohh that was fourth gear ?

And counting.

The cost per post in here is the lowest in the known universe.

Well, apart from the inferior forums who don't charge and you get what you pay for.
Judging by the amount of posts that some 'newer' members make they've already hit break-even and Jim now owes them some of their membership fee back! :D

Have you been snoozing Sir ? It's nearly 2020 and you joined in 2016. Just in case you missed it, Brexit hasn't and there is a General Election next month.

I'm sure though we will have a few more posts repeating what has already been said over and over again.

It's the Yorkshire people, got to get full value for their subs.

No licence, not insured.
Rv dealers were assuring buyers that their licence covered it because it was a motorhome.
Someone wrote a book, published, a few years ago. He bought an rv to tour in, and it wasnt till later, he found out he would have to take hgv test to carry on driving his purchase.

I once owned a Morris Marina.

I had one a new Company Car and I bloody hated it ,I tried to kill it by thrashing the absolute bollocks off it everyday of its unfortunate long life in the hope it would blow up and be replaced with a Cortina but though it sounded like a bag of spanner’s it had 70k miles when if finally got replaced .

sorry JJ way off thread.

Just read the OP. He did not have a valid licence for that vehicle.

And, Ollie admits not having a valid licence for that RV.

No defence in either case. Just being pedantic.
And I thought I was a hardliner ??

If the rules are the same as over here.

Not having a valid license invalidates your insurance.

Not looking to start an argument just stating a fact ?

That looks like an ancient document. My Dad had one of those before his paper one......he died about 27 years ago

At a time that I had new company cars my wife had an Allegro, real funny , she would often walk through the door holding the gear stick , what a heap :giggler:
