Just an update on where we are going.

You'd be pretty rat arsed if you stopped for a beer at every bar/restaurant along the length of the market. When we were there earlier in the year it was bouncing with French, as it's cheaper for stuff over the border.

We have found through previous visits,it's best not to use the bars along the front but go to the bars around the indoor fruit market near the station a lot more reasonable.

I first came to ventimiglia with my late wife and her sister and brother on law, on a wallis Arnold coach tour , way back in the early 90s, and were quite over awed with all the hustle and bustle and all the various languages, and although we have been many times since it has never lost its attraction for me, but I really think this is another one off the list now :(

When I read earlier in the thread you were visiting a large street market, my first thought was why ?
My idea of hell, and definitely not what I come away for.
But we're all different.
Just like markets of any sort, used to go to the live stock market in uttoxeter every Wednesday for thirty odd years till it closed, it's an Asda now :(
Also had an odd stall or two on local markets but not anymore.

No, I'm a Mancunian until I married a staffs girl so didn't know the area until mid 80's
Called into Newcastle under Lyme for beers on way back from watching Man UTD play Leicester away in an FA cup tie.
The rest is history

Chaser your doing what you both want to do and go where you want and that is all that matters. its your money you spend it how you want. Life’s to short to miss out on things you want to do just to save a pound. Enjoy your travels and thanks for the updates. (y)

12.66 euro a night, sounds a bargain to me. In the summer, the cheapest place I stayed at was 32 euro a night.
Why are you unable to live this down?

Come don't be silly he paid €32 a night for 3 ights in Italy and now nearly €13 that's a fortune for Charlie to pay for camping (me too) Poor lad might have to sell a tractor when he gets back.

chaser did you get a CCP card out of the machine at the entrance of a site or did you have one before you left the UK? We’ve seen a couple of CCP’s whilst we were driving through France and were impressed by them. We’d like to give them a go when we drive home but obviously need to get a card. Thanks

I already might have mentioned that the most expensive site I stayed at was 100 euro a night. It was a five star site, exactly where we wanted to be, though. Twenty yards from the Adriatic and a huge (but not heaving) water park for the boys and Dad to splash around in.

Stop trying to give Charlie a heart attack, you have just made me throw my morning cupper over the duvet.

We think €10 is expensive for a night.

But you are happy spending two hundred quid on derv to get there ::bigsmile: ::bigsmile: ::bigsmile:
How else are you going to find sunshine and warmth. :giggle:

And how much did you spend getting to & from your expensive site?

We got our CCP card out of the machine at a site years ago. Use them Occasionally if they are where we want to be but they are a bit pricy.
Yeah just stop at the gate, and it's a bit of a faff first time but it will give you a card and let you in when you have paid, from then on you can put money on it or pay at the gate .

Exactly the same! And we go Peage too!
But we don't eat out, due to the boys having very restrictive diets (ASD)

Motorhoming is a very individual thing. No right way or wrong way to do it, even if your choice is to sit it on the drive, never moving and tinker with it 24/7!

tinker with it 24/7!
Now that's the best bit.
New van is a year away already having sleepless nights working out all the mods for it.

Looking at your modding the gin palace thread, you gonna need a trailer to haul around the thirty leisure batteries and 1m watt solar panels you will want to put in it... ::bigsmile: ::bigsmile: ::bigsmile:

Well I have been very opposed to these people buying up Aires that were free or cheap, sticking barriers up and chargeing for them.
It's all very well now but when they get a monopoly of them the prices are bound to rise to campsite prices, and what's more villages are going to clamp down on parking any where else and forcing folks who can't afford these prices onto these places.
But hey ho, for what little time I have left motorhomeing, I might as well take it while it's there, because my protesting about them isn't going stop them I'm afraid.
And for what they are offering now for the ten quid they certainly look a bargain.
