Just an update on where we are going.

Well I have been very opposed to these people buying up Aires that were free or cheap, sticking barriers up and chargeing for them.
It's all very well now but when they get a monopoly of them the prices are bound to rise to campsite prices, and what's more villages are going to clamp down on parking any where else and forcing folks who can't afford these prices onto these places.
But hey ho, for what little time I have left motorhomeing, I might as well take it while it's there, because my protesting about them isn't going stop them I'm afraid.
And for what they are offering now for the ten quid they certainly look a bargain.

I suppose that the point is that although they are/were free to the user, there would have been significant regular maintenance costs for the local authority or commune to pay for. Jean-Paul, the local restauranteur, might be happy for his rates to pay for the upkeep of the aire, but why should Pierre the widget maker, pay for it?

Anyway, while it is still so cheap, you just keep enjoying it Chaser! Where you going next?

Well as it happens we didn't stop on that one, it was just a carpark in full sun and nowhere near the village so we moved on to the next one an hour away.
So we are now parked up here.

We've stayed there and enjoyed the peace. A very nice French couple even apologised that they couldn't speak any English. Had my first embarrassing french language situation in the local tabac shop there. I thought I was asking for a jetton for the washing machine.....

But turned out I was asking him if I could have a token to wash in his shop. No wonder he got a bit shirty.:blusher:

I asked for another sim for my phone in Thailand a few weeks ago and got given a packet of condoms.

Very strange place, everything seems to be closed, and barriers set up, presume there is going to be some sort of event.

So true. When I was working in Thailand, I had to go to their Police HQ in Bangkok. I was there to meet Lt. Colonel Anuchit Boonipatipark that was the English spelling. So I read out the name on his business card to the front desk guy and I think he's still laughing 17 years later. I eventually found the chap after 20 minutes of walking around.

You were lucky, you could have ended up with a ladyboy.

Well it's been quite a day today, went to one CCP but it was just a car park in full sun so looked about and saw another CCP about an hour away so went for that, this one is just the opposite all shady trees but it's got the lot showers, toilets, washing up sinks even a BBQ thing compete with wood, ready to go and even a washing machine but apparently you have to get a token for it.
But best of all we have met fellow funster DBK .
We have been out to a restaurant in the village and had an excellent meal with very nice fellow french diners who wanted to talk to us in English about the queen and b.... and loads of stuff, really good night.
We have seen another of these ccps down by the sea so will probably move back there tomorrow after visiting an onion fair that Julie has seen and wants to have a look at it.
In spite of everything I have said about ccps I must admit we are really getting into them now and as long as the price stays the same and they are where we want to be we will keep using them .
All in all a far better experience today than the last four days on an Italian campsite, but believe it or not we have people on here walking past with towels.

Well by your own admission this is quite a turnaround from playing holy hell about CCP’s prior to you trip to now actually loving them and furthermore searching them out.
Now l have a cunning plan you might consider, are you aware that CCP‘s have Ambassadors that move around the system speaking to their clients and handing out promotional material and they obviously get to stay for FREE😮. Charlie the Funster Ambassador for CCP has quite a ring to it.😉

Might be a step too far for Charlie unless they bribe him with an old tractor.

Saw a Total garage today at €1.504. There was a queue of about 6 cars. We filled up at another Total garage on the péage of all places later in the day for €1.58. This was in Provence.

are you (anyone) using the free version of the CCP or upgraded, I was looking at it and wondered if which of the upgrades was worth the ££

Don't understand, didn't know there was different grades, we just pay at the gate when we get there, didn't know of anything else.

I believe the upgrade you can pay for allows you to book CCP sites in advance.
Not really worth it for how most of us travel, but could be useful if you need to be sure of a pitch on a popular site ?

It's called the Privilages Pack. Possibly useful if you travel in high season but for most folk it probably isn't necessary.

yeah they offer an addon where you can pre book the space, leave and return as many times and offer various discounts. I think it was another £26....PACK'PRIVILÈGES
Not really worth it for us, in lowish season travelling.
