Is there anyone who doesn't go to Benidorm?

We booked a week on Villasol a few years ago, after reading JockandRita and other funsters winter experiences on the morning thread. We had a lovely time , and loved the nightlife more than we expected, staying out until 3 am on more than one occasion. We have now been every year since, and had three weeks there over Oct/Nov last year.
The best thing with taking a motorhome there is having bikes to explore the surrounding areas.
Benidorm is far,far more than just bars, get on your bikes and ride (y)

Never set foot on the Spanish mainland although we've landed in Majorca from a cruise ship once as well as several visits to the Canaries.

I would say that if you don't like Benidorm, then either..
  1. You have never explored the place properly, because the area really has a lot to offer.
  2. You are a miserable sod.
Say what you like grumpy, but it's 1 or 2 and probably 1 and 2. 😉

I go by my non-motorhoming mates who go there.

Apparently, there is loads of British food (even a Sunday roast), you can get a pint of guest real ale, everything is open until silly o'clock in the morning, and everyone speaks English.

Sounds hideous. Just like Blackpool but without the weather.
Anyway, when it comes to beaches, the Med can do one compared to the Adriatic.

We hated the place when we went! We booked a couple of days and after we realised just how appalling the place is we felt we should book another few days so we could really see how dire the place is!

Its so bad we extended week on week until we realised that we'd been in Benidorm for five weeks, it was that bad!

To be fair if you want to see tits, eat all you can and drink cheap shit beer you can (apparently) but if you need a day off ;) you can find excellent food, Ice cold beers, quiet beaches and amazing wines.

As many say, there is pretty much something for everyone if you look beyond the "golden mile"

Cycling is safe and easy, the trams are cheap and regular and walking anywhere is pretty easy

Or its because you have taste.

Benidorm is not Spain. Its Scarborough or Blackpool with sun

I struggle to understand why some would buy a motorhome, drive a quickly as possible to Benidorm, pitch up on one site untill their 90 days are almost up, then dash back to the UK. Why not just rent an appartment and fly over?
Maybe that's just me?

I'll try and explain the fascination..

It's because Benidorm is so unique, it's fantastic. I do try to visit other places on the way, some are mildly interesting, maybe a good beach or something but you soon get bored of the same old same old.. It's a bit like visiting different cities in the UK, sounds interesting at first but you soon discover most of them are all the same 🥱

In Spain it's the same old dry dusty countryside with monasteries, mountains, scruffy villages... When we arrive in Benidorm the holiday begins! 🤩

Get the motorcycle off the back of the van, go for a ride, buy some beer, visit the beautiful beach, go shopping, then back to the pool for a cooling swim, then get ready and go for a stroll down the road, eat in one of the many excellent cheap restaurants then see the Spanish Beatles with a pint or 2 and walk back to the van... The perfect day.

Next day could be totally different but just as perfect:
Waterpark
Old town
Flea market
Benidorm market
Altea market
Gaudalest
Albir beach
Ponente beach
Finestrat shopping mall
Finestrat beach
Villajoyosa
Alicante (45min ride)
And lots more

😍 we're ready to make our way home after 6 weeks though

This year Aneta wants to see Gibraltar so we'll probably go a more direct route through the middle of Spain, you never know, there might be something interesting 😂. And the up the coast to BENIDORM 🥰🫶

Right, now you all know. No more questions 😝

We finally went winter last year staying on a site between there and Altea for 2 nights and cycled into each on separate days. We cycled the whole bay in Beni and I was surprised how clean the beach was, but it was the old town which we loved. As sunset approached we noticed a local with a small and I mean a small dog on the main beach. A cop car pulled up and screamed what I presume was a rollocking at him right across the beach, this guy swooped the dog up and virtually legged it.

It’s one of life’s unanswered questions isn’t it?

Why so many proud Scots are never found in Scotland!
Because some of us like culture.

Something Benidorm doesn't have 😉

This always comes up when Beni is mentioned, but how anyone can say they don't like it if they have never been or for just a couple of hours, it's just the same the other way , you can't say you like it if you have never been.
Or others saying they are never going to go, why?
It's only a place like any other, until you have been there is no way you know what it's like.

Pretty certain I would not like to join the 3m visitors each year, and they probably wouldn't want us as an additional 2 either.

Not a question, but a big thumbs up! We’ve just arrived for another two months here.

It’s sunny,
It’s buzzing,
Loads of places to cycle to,
Loads of places to walk to,
Loads of Spanish, Chinese, Indian and English food to eat,
Etc, etc, etc, but most of all ….
There are LOADS of Funsters here. We had a wonderful welcome from them all in Arena Blanca Clubhouse yesterday, and we can’t wait to spend another 2 months at the biggest and happiest Funster Meet around.

Oh, and by the way, No Miserable Buggers Allowed!

I've never been to the moon but I know I'd not like it. I've seen London on telly to know not to bother going .

Just wondering Charlie have you ever had sex with a horse?

If not how do you know you'd not like it 🤣

I haven’t knowingly met anyone who’s had sex with a horse but an ex police officer friend arrested someone in the act. The offending chap was most upset that they hadn’t waited as he was nearly done so presumably it can be fun :giggle:

The question was is there anyone who doesn't go to benidorm well I have and I like it, I haven't been to the moon so no idea whether I'd like it or not so can't make a comment, I have been to London and know I don't like it, sex with a horse , I havent tried it so likewise I can't comment on that either.
Loads of things and places I haven't done and untill I have I can't say whether I like them or not same as everyone else.

I went to Benidorm in 1975 before it became what it is now. I loved it I was footloose and fancy free. I also love Las Vegas another marmite place.

Kevin (OH) is convinced he will hate it. Maybe I can convince him to have a day or two there who knows. He did like villayojosa which is just down the road.

I too agree you need to try it before you decide
