Ian and helga go south !!

We and two other Brits from our site went on a shopping expedition yesterday in a car borrowed from Pedro, the owner of the site we're on.
The driver, who knows the area better than us, took a wrong turning and we ended up driving around Albufeira.
It must be almost 20 years since we were last in the Algarve and we couldn't believe the amount of development that has taken place. The town was totally unrecognisable from what we remembered.
Just very glad we saw the area before it was swamped by building.

There is such a huge variety of vehicles here now, I'm going to have a walk round and a nose,, there's a geezer who has a big 5th wheeler in the corner, God knows how he got it into the space, lol.

Ok so the drama I had in Portugal seems a long way off now and I feel ok about sharing the experience, I have spoken to a bloke here who told me more about the country and it does seem that like Benidorm that the algarve is not a true reflection of the country at all !!! Apparently a bit further up the coast and the west side is a different kettle of fish, so I may try again in future!!

Now, the reasons I left the algarve'
I walked into a bar and asked for a coffee,,, geezer behind the bar said. 5 euros! I said how much? He said, and I quote " that's what you lot should be charged ". Thanks very much pal, but don't bother I said and walked out !!!

Got back to the site, and made a brew,,
Knock on the door, someone trying to sell me strawberries, no thank you I said, a few words of Portuguese was spoken but I didn't understand, another no thanks and off they went !!

About 40 mins later I was sitting in silence reading on the kindle, behind my net curtains by my door! The window next to me was open( it's a slider) and all of a sudden a hand came through the window and started to feel about on my table top,right next to me!! I was shocked!!! I had a mug of tea in my hand and I smashed it into the hand and shouted!! The bloke screamed , hand dissapeared and so did they!! I opened the door and no one was to be seen!! Nobody was about next door and no one saw anything.

It was then I finally thought, bollox to this place and decided to come back to Spain before it got any worse!!

I have been in Spain for 3 months ish and not once felt the need to worry or take any extra precautions!!! That's it,, I'm happier here!!! Xx

He were t the only one with a bad attitude mate, I saw it on a few in albuefera!! But a couple did smile and were quite nice!!

Well today went by without a hitch,, but my neck is really bad now, can't hardly move my head at all!!! Think it's gonna be some ibuprofen and a kip tonight!! Yet another Friday night I miss out on!!

Still the sun came out and it was quite nice this afternoon!! Nipped to the shop and got a couple of things so alls good in the fridge stakes!!!

So nothing much to report now, and it's just nice to relax and chill,, I hope your day was good, not too cold or rainy?

I think I'm going to cook a couple a couple of pork chops in a bit, with pan fried roast potatoes, and I do fancy my fix of baked beans so that will be the menu del dia !!!! Washed down with copious amounts of Yorkshire tea!! Which I have to drink now with my left hand cause of this stupid neck thing!!

Ibuprofen gel is good Ian.

If you are still in pain after the weekend please go and see a Dr as they can give you stronger gel.

When I "did" my neck they sprayed it with some sort of freeze spray (which I found out later was not to be used on head or neck), straightened me out and put a soft collar on. :)

Lol. I have had it before duck and after a couple of days it will be fine ,, I can see me walking round with one of them collars on !! Lmao. What little credibility I have would just fly out the window!! Lol. Thanks anyway, I appreciate the thought,, xxx. Lol

You don't need to go to a Dr here as the ibuprefeno starts at 400mg tablets & normal is 600mg , over the counter. When I asked for 100 or 200mg they thought I'd lost the plot.:LOL: Don't do it here.

Yes I know Gus, I got some 400s couldn't believe it, bonus !!

Was it a string vest your wearing mate. With the obligatory hanky on the swede!!! Lol. X
 
When same thing happened to my neck in France last year I remembered that Voltorol anti inflammatory cream helped but we hadn't any with us so went to farmacia and the foreign equivalent is called Voltaren ...two days and I was fine.:) Hope you are soon feeling better.

Not the tablets but the gel. You put the gel on where it hurts :) Here the 5% gel is available OTC but the 10% needs a prescription.

I think that used to be the case, but I believe there was a change in the rules and you can now get the 10% over the counter in the UK. I bought some a while back. Probably need a decent pharmacy, rather than just a supermarket.

I imagine it would be easy to get 10% gel without a prescription in Spain
 
Good morning!!

I got up late today,due to not getting much sleep last night!! But my neck problem has eased up dramatically!!

I am alive with positive feelings today, I feel very good about life?

I have said to myself that for today ( to start with) I will have a positive and cheerful attitude to all and everything that happens!! I will say that I usually do, but have recently for whatever reason, found myself to be worrying inwardly about my life in general ?? I got no idea why? It might be that mid life crisis thing I have been told about!!

Anyway I had a dream last night about having a game of golf, I was just in the rough to the side of a green and while I was getting ready to pitch up to the flag I looked at the green and there appeared a man with his mate chasing a Guinea pig around the flag. Then another man appeared with a Guinea pig on a lead in a little harness!! Well I don't remember what happened then but it was the strangest thing I have ever dreamt!!! What does it mean ??? Lol.

Anyway I'm off for coffee now, to the bar and to get some fresh bread for later!! I'm looking foreward to the interpretation of my dream!! Lol

It sounds to me like they are chasing the cash Guinea pig,(like cash cow)

What a great interpretation Jo!!! I have been thinking of work a lot lately and I had a long conversation with someone about. Working and benefitting from the money myself! ( for once in my life) yesterday !!! You may well have hit the nail on the head babe!! And luckily I'm still ok for money at the moment!! Xx. Thanks. Xxxx. Oh and wait till I sell my book!! If I'm half a quid behind Jim, then I will be made !! Lol

Ok, well again it's a bit overcast here at zahora.. Now there's a few of the Spanish holidaymakers packing up and going home today, they are saying it's going to rain tomorrow and they don't want to pack up in it!!

It's all good though cause I'm still in a nice relaxed positive mood!!!

It's been fun seeing what they get up to, and I must say, some of the toys they have bought with them,,, scooters for kids that are electric and wizz along, electric powered skate boards with huge wheels, capable of 30 km distance on one charge! Great toys, and it's usually the adults messing about on them, the kids can't get a look in!! Lol.

Well I'm stocked up with food etc incase the shop on here is shut tomorrow! I don't know if the Easter holiday is big but I would have thought that they celebrate tomorrow?

So I might be in for a downpour tomorrow, will be a good test for our helga, maybe clean some dust off before I steam clean her on mon or Tuesday! Water tank all filled, waste all empty, cassette will be done later today( when I can face it).

So I think I will watch a film or two this afternoon online, and do some more of this relaxing thingy!!! My neck seems a lot better although I'm being careful not to move too quickly!!

I will stay here for the full week I booked and then move on all cleaned and polished inside, I think Gibraltar is on the cards for some fags and diesel, but only for that, I don't really need to stay for longer than 1 night...

Then it's along the coast into the costa del crime!! I don't know where to stay yet but I will suss it out whenever I stop!!! But Iceland will be on the cards, probably all of them !!! I would like to see Gus again before I pass but I will obviously have to see if he's about at the time,,

I will see if brewery Dave is about and check on the state of my kidneys near Malaga!! Then further along again progressing towards France at a leasurely pace!! I'm looking forward to the south of France first, seeing how the other half live, but I'm sure I will see that in Marbella also?

So a lazy afternoon is on the cards, again, but very enjoyable and relaxing none the less,,,, chat later. Xxxx.

Ian stop going on about your neck , its giving me the hebie jebies I'm going into hospital next Thursday to have a big lump cut out of mine and I ain't looking froward it.

Don't try going over your duty free allowance to take into France,,,French customs much keener than Spanish..BUSBY...
 
Andorra is a small country in the Pyrenees with a road running through, up and over from Spain to France and about a million shops and some ski resorts. Cheap everything, allegedly! Be prepared to be stopped and searched when leaving!!!
