I think there is more to this than meets the eye, one post said he loved albufeira and was staying two weeks then out of the blue he hated it and was going back to Spain, and hadn't really seen anything of Portugal, I think them women must come into it somewhere(n)(y):)

You are still relatively a newbie on here @Anthea M , most of us that have been around for a while tend to disregard anything FIDGET Says unless it has been cleared by his carer.....

Ignore this funster @Popeye he's a little bit jellyass !! because I've been to Brittany (he's not gone that far) & because I wouldn't give him the list of aires.
He's a fungy ( sorry I should have spelt that correctly) Fun Guy from the new forest , he's all mouth & trousers!!!!

Well today has been lovely!!

I had coffee this morning, bit of a bike ride, more coffee, watched a couple of films, took golf clubs and table, chairs etc off the back of helga, in readiness for her steam clean etc, dried all my golf clubs, bag, bits etc from the rain I had in Portugal!!

Did just the one load of washing, all dried in the sun, now folded and put away ! Going out to conil tomorrow,to the caravan place to buy one of those bike arms I have seen.

I think when I have that fitted and strap the bike up the handlebars won't be touching the window!! I think I have seen 2 different sizes? I will get the longest!!!

So tonight I want to finish the book I started last night , cause it gets nice and quiet here by about 9 ,, then hit the sack!!

Tomorrow night being Friday, there's a great local bar that has bands and various live music acts on. So I will be getting hammered in there tomorrow night!!

So, I'm going to cook a spaghetti carbonara tonight, all sorted for it, except for palmisan cheese, I can't find it anywhere to be honest!! So have a good evening, will chat later,, xxx

Too late now probably for tonight but any of the hard Spanish cheeses will do as a substitute for Parmisan. Manchego is a well known one but you can't get it everywhere. Look for "Curado" on the packet. For normal eating we prefer the softer Semi-curado. There isn't a huge difference between a lot of them but it is fun trying them all! :)

You can probably get real Parmisan at a Lidl or Aldi. They usually have a separate section of imported cheeses.

Ian.
Do you remember walking across a dance floor, egged on by your mates saying, "Let's split those two birds up over there". Then, crest-fallen, you slink back to your mates because they gave you the brush off!

Plastic palm trees at the Ilford Palais, or Dr Feelgood at the Kursaal in Saaafend.

They were the days!

Just a quick note, still loads of posts to go through, glad you are happy back in Spain, however, we must get together in Portugal sometime, so that we can show you the REAL Portugal. The only time we go near Albufeira is to go to Aldi/Lidls.

Probably be back here end of June.

Good morning,,

Well nothing much to report this morning, but suns not come out,, it's a bit overcast !!!

I woke up and lifted my head off the pillow and I yelped!! I have pulled that muscle in the side of my neck! You know that one that doesn't let you turn your head without severe pain!!! What is that muscle called? Christ it hurts,, especially when I forget and just turn to look at something,, then it gets you,, lol. It hurts!!!

So I was going shopping today but to be honest I can't be bothered,,, I'm just gonna have coffee, bit of breakfast and chill!! I may even get the tv out the cupboard and see what's on Spanish tv!! But I might not??

Well the site filled up more yesterday, caravans, tents of all shapes and sizes! The more I see these families smiling, laughing and doing everything together the more I admire their commitment and attitude to family life!! It puts the uk to shame ! ( does not apply to all I'm sure) !!!!!

So last night I had a bit of carbonara and it was surprisingly good! (Don't you find your food always tastes better when your hungry) and went to kip about 9,30. I can't believe how well I'm sleeping on a drop down overcab bed! I mean the mattress is half the thickness of the ones I had at home, amazing !!

Still I hope the sun gets out later I think I will put a jumper on to keep my neck warm, and a hoodie and go for a nice relaxing walk !! As long as I remember to turn the whole top of my body round to see anything I should get through the inconvenience of this bloody muscle !!
Chat later ... Xxxx

Morning Ian

Hope your neck gets better soon. We're currently tackling the M1 north bound  Would rather be where you are.

That sounds like a right pain in the neck Ian! :imoutahere:

Maybe it's lack of activity, get out and do some more bicycle stunts to cheer us up and it might pop back in to place!

OMG Ian you brought some very old memories flooding back earlier.
In my teens I lived near Colchester in Essex and a good Saturday night sometimes meant a drive over to Southend to the greyhound track for the evening races followed by the rest of the night spent at the Kuurzal.:whew:
Those were the days, no responsibilities, no cares, no worries and come the end of the week, no money.:winky:

Camber Sands......... cant hold a candle to Southend Ian, that's all they have got...... plenty of sand. Not like the old Kursaal back in the day.......

Well the sun is trying to come out!!
Not very successfully, but it's trying, full marks for commitment!!

Just had a couple of nice coffees from restaurant, lovely,,,

There is such a huge variety of vehicles here now, I'm going to have a walk round and a nose,, there's a geezer who has a big 5th wheeler in the corner, God knows how he got it into the space, lol.

Ok so the drama I had in Portugal seems a long way off now and I feel ok about sharing the experience, I have spoken to a bloke here who told me more about the country and it does seem that like Benidorm that the algarve is not a true reflection of the country at all !!! Apparently a bit further up the coast and the west side is a different kettle of fish, so I may try again in future!!

Now, the reasons I left the algarve'
I walked into a bar and asked for a coffee,,, geezer behind the bar said. 5 euros! I said how much? He said, and I quote " that's what you lot should be charged ". Thanks very much pal, but don't bother I said and walked out !!!

Got back to the site, and made a brew,,
Knock on the door, someone trying to sell me strawberries, no thank you I said, a few words of Portuguese was spoken but I didn't understand, another no thanks and off they went !!

About 40 mins later I was sitting in silence reading on the kindle, behind my net curtains by my door! The window next to me was open( it's a slider) and all of a sudden a hand came through the window and started to feel about on my table top, right next to me!! I was shocked!!! I had a mug of tea in my hand and I smashed it into the hand and shouted!! The bloke screamed , hand dissapeared and so did they!! I opened the door and no one was to be seen!! Nobody was about next door and no one saw anything.

It was then I finally thought, bollox to this place and decided to come back to Spain before it got any worse!!

I have been in Spain for 3 months ish and not once felt the need to worry or take any extra precautions!!! That's it,, I'm happier here!!! Xx

Amazing - they always come in threes don't they!!

I was pissed off v cause it took me 20 mins to clean the tea up!! Lol
Don't blame you for moving out then, you would never feel happy leaving the van, but very surprised at the barman, I have been going to Portugal couple times a year for eight years and never come across anyone like that, perhaps the slump is beginning to bite, but it's in his interest to look after his customers, but saying this I have never been in a mh so can't comment on that side of it.
Enjoy Spain and as you say try Portugal again another day.
Must admit though when we went in November it did seem to be going downhill in albufeira but put it down to the recent floods they had , had.(y)
