Hey it's all right for you enjoying your self out there in the sun shine :sun:drinking your Yorkshire tea :drinks: I've got a rally to sort out (enjoy) for 110 Funster Vans at Chester mind you will :dance2:party a bit.. Lol.
The thing is Ian that's why you have a Motorhome so it can take you where you choose to go, hope fully when you are back in the UK we will get to meet you on a rally. Enjoy your Easter.

What a shame! - you know the house/flat holiday 'estate' over the rd from Camping Albufeira? - well they do charge for access to their interwebnet, when we went it was €9 a week - but it reaches quite a way into the campsite and is pretty darn reliable. Think it was €3 a day, or you could go with your lappy and use their computer room.

Hello sedge, yes it isn't nice when I say I'm not comfortable but that's not a criticism of Portugal!! It would be rediculous of me to generalise, It's only about me!! It's not only the Internet sedge it's how I feel in general! I have no prob with Portugal. Again I don't feel I fit !! Xx. In fact sedge the Internet here is ok now and has been for an hour !! Lol.

Only thing I would say Ian - although I have to say - I wasn't very keen on Albufeira myself - found it a bit disjointed all in all - TBH, fairly boring - I did quite like some other bits of Portugal we saw or stayed at.

Albufeira sort of seems to cater for the young drinking dancing crowd and the middle aged drinking crowd, and don't seem very impressed with you wanting to sit and watch the world go by over 'just' a coffee without having half a ton of cake or something else - and this was in January/February when it wasn't like you were having to queue for a table or something.

But I wouldn't be bereft if we never went again, or gagging with excitement if we did.

I think actually you are more inclined to fall for places hook line and sinker if your early experiences of 'it' are good or reasonable. You tend to be more forgiving of any crap bits!

With all due respect, and I have no a agenda for Portugal , you goes where you like , but you could say the same thing about anywhere, get away from the tourist part and its compleatly different. What I can't understand what has changed Ian's mind when he arrived in albufeira he was over the moon , going to stay for a fortnight but after two days he has compleatly the opposite opinion of it.(n)

I adore Spain - but 'real' Spain rather than eg Benidorm.

Pete's first experience was quite a few years ago when we'd gone to see the Valencia Moto GP and we'd borrowed a villa owned by a German Blackbird owner our friends new - lovely place actually at Denia which we were fairly gobsmacked was a German enclave. eg forget the Banco Bilbao, just a Deutschebank, and SPANISH restaurants menus were printed all in German - and though the staff were Spanish and speaking Spanish - they did not seem to understand Spanish delivered by an Englishwoman. Odd really when you consider how long I had previously been conversing with Spaniards in out of the way mountain villages and half deserted fishing places on the coasts - and though OK I don't speak it anywhere near as good as a native, I had never before had any trouble either understanding the gist of what they said, or they apparently, me. Anyway we had a break-in and we had a load of cash stolen and this was down to the people we'd gone with, really, leaving the door onto their balcony open - after we'd both said 'OOh, remember to be a bit careful about shutting that ....'

So it wasn't a brilliant intro to a country. However - after we'd driven through Spain in order to get to Albufeira, and driven back through when we were returning home - Pete was coming round to it a bit more. He loved crossing the mountains past Burgos, and I know he'd like to see them in nice weather (it was December LOL) and we did see a couple of eagles through the mist even then. We stayed on various aires and he liked Caceres and Palencia. I think there's definitely some hope he may come round a bit more to my way of thinking!

I do want him to see the Alhambra - and Toledo ....

So - I look forward to hearing about where you are going next, and what you think of it !

Each to their own @ianthebuilder and good for you realising what works for you! We love Spain and Portugal. Currently were struggling to leave a place in Portugal that we love, but we think we might miss some stuff if we don't move on :(good luck with your new location X

I'm not looking for a row camper, I love London and should never have been talked into moving to Norfolk!! But for 5 years I lived and worked in a place that didn't fit!!! I'm just not prepared to stay somewhere I'm not comfortable !! Some people hate London and love Norfolk!! Same deal. It's horses for courses!! I don't know why I prefer Spain, I just feel better there!! Xxx

We arrived in France 3 days ago after being in Spain for 8 weeks - have asked husband to take me back to Spain a.s.a.p. There's something about it - can't actually say what - but it just feels right. :)

Well, having waded through 2 and a half pages since last night I now know everyone's thoughts on Spain and Portugal and very little about what Ian is up to!

Sometimes we digress a little too much!

Yes. , some of the places and food they eat looked and sounded bloody lovely!!! The pictures are amazing!!!

We are off to Spain in June and there's some great sites mentioned here. Wish I'd made a note of them. Gotta trawl through 138 pages now. :)
I keep a note book handy and write them down as I see them because it moves so quickly(y)

Well it's the end of a nice quiet uneventfull day!!

Had a nice home cooked meal, walked to the bar , had a beer and a couple of rum and cokes, feeling nice and relaxed..

This place is packed,, even people that were here before I left have been asked to turn thier vans and caravans round in order to create more space!! I'm really gratefull to carmen for squeezing me in!

I have booked for the week, and apparently they all go home Sunday so lots more room becomes available, then I will have a good day or two to clean and spruce up helga!!

I find myself being really comfortable now I'm back in Spain, and here on site, there's a young couple with 2 kids and a small dog next to me( Spanish) who are lovely and god knows how they got everything in the car including them? They have a tent, gazebo, barbecue, table, chairs, bedding. It was like a magic box, stuff was appearing from everywhere, and the car is a Ford Focus! Lol.

2 lovely little girls, the oldest of whom likes to practise her English on me, while the other enjoys rubbing her little hand over my bald head and squealing with delight, and finishing with a benny hill slap !! Her mum was horrified but couldn't help giggling!!!

They live in Marbella, and speak a little English, they were saying that the Russians have invaded and there are loads of them there now!! I thought it was all English on the costs del crime? Lol

So I am due to have coffee with burndt tomorrow morning for a good catchup and a laugh, and he's looking foreward to getting his new purchase for his caravan, a new jeep ( coming from Germany) he's giving the phaeton to Kevin his son ( lucky boy) cause he can't get 4 of his mates in his bmw !! Lol. ( how the other half live eh)

Anyway I'm pleased to be back amongst the Spanish and I won't knock Portugal ( cause I didn't really experience any of it) but they are ( in my limited experience) a friendlier people!

So I will read a book, then have a kip, Internet works well and that's a bonus!

Night all, sweet dreams, don't let the bed bugs bite!! ( thanks mum) xxx

Good morning,,

Slept like a baby!!!
Had a nice shower etc.
Now sitting outside helga in the early morning sunshine, listening to classic Motown hits on the kindle!! Oh how the memories come flooding back with music !! Fiona Hopkins where are you now?? Lol

So going for some coffee in a bit with burndt, he had a bad back yesterday ( poor old sod) so I hope he's better now!
( I have a bad back, elbows, wrists, knees, fingers, etc everyday, thanks to the building industry). And I thought manual labour was a spaniard!!!! Lol

Beautiful day,and I have decided to do very little till the site empties out a bit after weekend, then I will steam clean outside of helga, clean and polish inside and finally get rid of some of the excess stuff I have bought with me!! Clothes etc. I know they have charity shops or the equivalent here so I will donate next week...

I am loving my Yorkshire tea bags! And I feel like a new man!! I suppose I can thank Portugal for at least having an Iceland! ( and all the staff were English and Scottish ex pats) lol.

Ohhhh. Bit of smokey Robinson just come on ,,,, those were the days,, full head of hair,, all my own teeth,, fashionable,, parties every Saturday round one house or another( even if we weren't invited) lol slow dancing ( whatever happened to that) ????
Dodgin the bullet if we weren't in our area or on our manor , lol. God it comes flooding back!!

Anyway, I will get sorted now. I need to put a wash in !!!! Later, have a good morning!! Xxxx
