Ian and helga go south !!

Ian,

We have read and chortled at your blog from our home in Christchurch, New Zealand. It has amused us no end.
We have embarked on our 9 month European tour, and are currently in Seville. Two great aires sites, both overlooking the river. We will look out for you.
All the best and if we do sight you (we are in a Burstner with GB plates and NZ at the end of the plate numbers), come over for a drink.

Tony,gretel. That would be lovely. Thankyou! I am going to pop into Jerez first to get some gas ( the saga continues) then into Seville. Where are you staying? And is the site ok for a person as upper class as myself? Hehe. Xx

Hello what a great forum this is people from all over the globe can meet up!!have a great time and teach Ian how to do a Haka !!
 
Well my trip to Seville might be postponed for a couple of days!! I have just been invited to a party in Cadiz on sat night !! Lol. I could do with another blow out!!!! Lol. Well well. Where is life going to take me next??

I have written a will naming Motorhome fun members as my next of kin, so by my reckoning you all stand to get 1 euro each!!! But you all have to split the funeral costs!! Helga goes to the highest bidder. !!! Lol.

I will let you all know how or where I am tomorrow!!! Haha. Isn't life strange!!! Lol.

That excludes us............and a large majority of the membership Ian, as we've all got our own version of Helga. (y)

For your sake, I hope it doesn't come to it, :eek: but if pushed, Rita and I can chuck in a couple of €s to help with funeral costs. :rofl: (only joking ;) )

This morning I went for a nice long walk along the beach!! Very sunny, very quiet,deserted,and lovely !! Stopped for a beer on the way back,which turned into two then three and then a further walk home!! Had a bit of grub when I got back then promptly fell asleep for 3 hours!!!

Today was one of those reflective days, the only person outside of helga I have spoken to is a barmaid! And that consisted of. Uno cervesa por fa vor, uno mas por fa vor and then finally senorita, uno mas para me!! So the sum total of about 12 words to a complete stranger!!! It was a nice day!!!

Now I am sitting here in a nice clean Motorhome finally making my mind up what to do and where to go!! Well I have decided!!!!

I am going to go to Seville on Friday and see what the city has to offer!!
So I am going to take it easy tonight, get up and pay tomorrow and get sorted for a morning departure on Friday !!

I have been told that the Easter weekend here in Spain is a very big deal for them! Maybe the biggest fiesta of the year and lots of campsites will be fully booked up, so I may just have to go to Aires for a bit, but that's all good for me, I have been living it up with electricity hook up, Internet, hot showers, bars restaurants for a few weeks now and God forbid I start getting soft!!! So that's the plan !!

Had a message on the phone from a mate of mine in uk about work, and it appears that he has gone to Norwich for some work and is doing well! Lots of work for bricklayers ( him and me) and the money ain't bad, about 375 to 400 £ per thousand which isn't bad nowadays and allows the oppertunity for around £1000 per week So if I don't manage to get work in France, or I decide not to go to Germany it's nice to know I can earn a quid in good old Blighty!! ( it must be due to a big pickup in the housing market)

It will be a bit sad when I leave to be honest, I have made a good friend in burndt here, and we have had some awesome times out!! And the people, both English, Spanish, German , Dutch etc have been great!! It's been good being here, I would highly recommend this site for a long stay but if you come for a while you would prob need a car!!! It's just a bit too far out from any town to walk, cycle etc. But site has great facilities!!! But for me it's back to the proper travelling lifestyle, Aires, no electric etc and not knowing where I'm going from one min to the next!! Lol

I have the coords for the Seville aire and that is all good !! Who knows I may fall in love again with another flamenco dancer !!!! And I may even get the chance to show off my overcab drop down, all singing and dancing bed!!! Lol. Xxxxxxx

Having just left Seville today I recommend the harbour aire over the two car park Aires any day N37°20.360 W006°01.443. All services included for €15 per night (or €12 without leccy) and a nice bar on-site. Security is great with a 24 hour guard. Only drawback is you have to get the 140/143 bus into town. €1.55 each way. Seville, lovely city and apart from the palace and cathedral and flamenco school show, for culture I recommend the contemporary art gallery, inside a mix of weird buildings.......enjoy.

Just arrived at Cadiz aire, big car park looks ok. Safe enough! So I will get out and have another walk round Cadiz!

Have to make a couple of calls today then all should be good, I hope. Will post later with any updates!! Here we go again !! Lol. Xx.
 
Sitting, watching and waiting for paella( seafood of course) with a grande cervesa in the middle of Cadiz !! Bonito!!

For the smokers amongst us,I have just purchased 3. Yes 3. Cartons of embassy no 1s here in a local tobacconists for the princely sum of 147 euros. That is just over £100 I think! Now the same 3 cartons in good old England cost me £294. £98 each !
Bloody daylight robbery at home!! Still you can take the boy out of London, but you know what they say!!! Lol. Laters!! Xxx.

Well, I'm just having a coffee in a square where there is a man playing a clarinet!! And to be honest he's really good !! Also just had a flamenco dancer doing her stuff, God I'm sitting in the sun and my legs are burning!! God it must be 25 here today, no wind. Just baking sunshine!! Oh hang on the clarinet man has finished, now we have a guitarist,, he's good too!! Spain's got talent right in front of me I just love the vibe here!!

Ok so now I'm waiting on Maria and a couple of friends to join me and let me know about tonight!!! Xx.
 
Well what a f,,,,,g afternoon I just had !!!

I waited for about ten mins in Cadiz for Maria and friends to arrive! The minute they got there I was plotting my escape!! 2 women were with her and 4 blokes, none looked and smelt like they ever seen a bath!! The blokes were definitely gypsies and took great delight in ordering beers they thought I was paying for, the women if I'm not wrong looked like fruity sellers on a fag break!! They were all telling me that the party was for me, all Maria's family were gonna be there and how much have I got, what Motorhome, where was it? Lots of dodgy questions that made me think ere we go!! I met some rum characters in my life but these were just downright wronguns!! I shot Maria a few glances and said I was going back for a shower and that I would go and pay the bill!!

Well I got up went to the bar, asked where the loo was and went straight round the corner into a cab and back to helga,, started her up and got straight out of Cadiz!! Now I am sitting on an aire in Jerez and I'm breathing normally!!!

What topped the afternoon off though was going into a repsol garage, connecting lpg pump and nothing,, bloke came out and said. Sorry no gas! Well ok I thought at least I can change my bottle! Sorry segnor no bottles of gas either, but you got hundreds over there mate I said,, yes he said and there all empty!! I'm going to have to get drunk tonight and wipe the day from memory!!!!!! Xx. Why oh why didn't I stay where I was and just bloody chill !!! Every time I move I get mugged off somehow!! Lol. Xx

Haha Ian we did try to warn you!! Those flamenco dancers did look dodgy !!! Hope you can chill at least they don't know what Helga looks like!! Careful in Seville they always have loads of cousins!!! Have a great day!!

No chaser. I did have a suspicion after what Gus said in an earlier post. But I am a bit thick. And things take time to sink in!!! Still I had a great time in Cadiz. And she didn't cost me more than a couple of scotches!!! Lol
