Well it seems I may have spoken too soon! I have no water at all now, well coming out of taps anyway. I can hear pump working( loudly) but after 5 mins now. No running water. So I am thinking about what my next move will be !!

Are you sure it's not running out underneath , emptying your tankWell it seems I may have spoken too soon! I have no water at all now, well coming out of taps anyway. I can hear pump working( loudly) but after 5 mins now. No running water. So I am thinking about what my next move will be !!

Fill it up with water and then see if it works. If it does you have a leak somewhere, it could be a drain valve not fully shut.Well it seems I may have spoken too soon! I can think of this, the pump is knackered and although running its not producing enough pressure for some reason to pump the water, I don't know what pumps are on a Hymer but it may be a broken impeller? Secondly the pump input or output pipe (or if its submerged) has somewhere become blocked or detached, do you have access to the water tank to see anything ?Right gauge indicates full tank and that has always been reliable.
No water draining or running out from underneath ..
No big puddles inside van either( yet) !
Pump is running but tap is not getting any water at all. Not even spitting to try!!
Quite unnerving actually !!
Right. Rang the caravan place in the algarve! They have water pumps / return valves in stock but they can't do gas check or service till the end of March!! Now Hymer dealers in Seville , can't speak English, or rather I can't speak Spanish! And I gathered from what I could get is that they are too busy at this time also !! I am considering now going back to elche, caravan cruz or the place near Gus to see what they can do ? I know cruz is busy till next week but at least I can see them before next month. And while I am there I can ask Gus if he can help me replace the return valve? When I have decided what to do I will post !!
All input for any ideas or suggestions welcome !! Xx

Ian, thank god you are sooooooooooo 'laid back' you seem to have so many problems but thankfully due to this wonderful 'site' there is always someone 'on hand' to helpQuite unnerving actually !!
We'll have a look in the tank if you can, if anything is bubbling or there is a water disturbance then there is a problem if its a submerged pump. Basically if water is coming out of the out pipe of the pump then there must a leak from the pump to the rest of the distribution pipework if there is no water coming out of the out pipe of the pump then either the pump is faulty or there is a blockage on the in pipe to the pump.Probably yes. I just have to slide sofa out and tank is there. Easily accessible !! But I am no electrician or plumber !!
Solutions.
1 buy a big bottle of water
2 use facilities block
3 buy beer
4 drink beer
5 carry on having fun!
Sorted.

Do tellI have just had another but I am tempted to keep it to myself ??
might be the pipe detached from the pump
The pump in your tank is a Reich twin impeller model, and the non return valve is found just above the pump................like this one.

They only last a few years, and as a result, I always carry a spare.
That'll be the same pump I linked to last night.
Right, sorry missed that, great minds think alikeThat'll be the same pump I linked to last night.
Cheers,
Jock.
Either there is an air lock in the pump Ian, (which will require a good shake whilst submersed to get rid), or the outlet pipe has become detached from the top of the pump (a jubilee clip at the non return valve), or, the non return valve is faulty.Who would have thought that all these dramas are caused by me emptying the fresh water tank to get rid of some dodgy smelling water!! And then running taps with a nearly empty tank !! There's gotta be a moral in that somewhere ??
I certainly would not rule the pump itself out of this scenario, as it sounds like it may have been working a lot and dry and possibly overheating. But as I understand it they (the non return valve) are both in the same unit ?Either there is an air lock in the pump Ian, (which will require a good shake whilst submersed to get rid), or the outlet pipe has become detached from the top of the pump (a jubilee clip at the non return valve), or, the non return valve is faulty.
Regards,
Jock.
No neither would I, that's why I gave an earlier link to the pump, and as posted, always carry one as a spare myself. The white nylon connecting rods to the impellers, do give up after a while. We are on our third pump in eleven years of ownership.I certainly would not rule the pump itself out of this scenario, as it sounds like it may have been working a lot and dry and possibly overheating. I'm a duck!!!
