Ian and helga go south !!

not sure which pump is fitted in your hymer. some are submersed in the tank with integral non return. others have a diaphragm pump with seperate non return valve. either can be fixed by plumbing in a simple non return valve in the pipe near the tank. takes longer to drain the tank and pipes than fitting the valve. dependant on the tank position and access to the pipe its an easy diy job

Thanks biggun I will investigate further tomorrow. I've had enough tonight !! Cheers for that !! X

Should be simple enough if you can locate it.
Just thinking about your gas & another problem is that regulator is 37mbar & specifically for propane.Of which you don't get too much in the mix of Spanish Gpl.

Just been talking to a bloke who can't wait to tell me I'm going to get robbed by bogus coppers!! Think I will turn round a go back to me mums !!! Bloody doom merchants! Thank you for all your kind words. Let the adventure begin!! Xxx.[/

Ok regarding regulator then. If I get one here it won't be much good at home? Is that what you mean ??

well you have just described a stuck non return valve at the pump. run water for a few minutes and its fine. switch off and the water in the pipes runs back to the tank
That could well be the problem biggun !! Is it an easy fix for someone who knows what there doing or is there something I can do !! I suppose that would explain the gurgling in the tank with the water running back in ??
I had same problem last year stuck non return valve! Dealer replaced pump FOC when I told him I wasn't paying as he had just had £500 for new reversing camera.

How much did he try to charge you sweetie??

Ian, get a 30mb regulator. Can be used with either propane or butane or any mix of the two. In any country!
Nice one munchie me old son !! I hope you and the wife are ok !! See you soon. Lol. X.

Ian, the fact that you had a steady red light at the heater control, tells you that there was a gas problem, and nothing to do with the boiler being full or empty. I think that your regulator is working intermittently, and as @gus-lopez has identified, needs replacing.
I concur with the probable dodgy non return valve, which is allowing the water between the pump and the taps, to gently drain back into the fresh water tank.
The pump in your tank is a Reich twin impeller model, and the non return valve is found just above the pump................like this one.

They only last a few years, and as a result, I always carry a spare.

BTW, if you are switching of the heating at night, and the internal temperature at your red boiler dump valve, drops below 6 degrees, it will automatically dump the contents, to prevent possible frost damage to the boiler. I'm hoping your night time temperatures wont drop low enough.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Ian the pump was £24.50 and another £20 to fit.
Pleased you are having a good time, love reading your happenings each day.
Steve

Cheers jock very helpful mate!! I don't think the boiler has ever dumped on me yet!! But how would I know?? ( does the red pin drop if it dumps). ? I am going to the Hymer place in a few days I may just let them know what it is! If they don't already!! Cheers again mate ! Hope your both good !

You've got it Ian, however, it is held closed by a 12v current, so, with the heating/water control turned on, and the thermostat is turned right down (no heat), the valve will stay closed, but you'll have a full tank of hot water first thing in the morning. (y)

Yes, we are both good thanks. (y)

Cheers for now,

Jock. :)

No ,it'll be ok at home. It is just that the mix of gas gere has far more butane in it than propane. whereas in uk in winter it is neat propane which is far better at lower temps. @Munchie has suggested best way by changing to a 30mbar which will work on both & they might even have a 30/37 mbar ,which is actually meant to do both.

If you have the time get a gaslow one. Not cheap but very good.
that's what is on it , a gaslow 37 mbar propane.

Ok all let me update!! Just arrived at Cadiz and have just been sorted on pitch 57. Bloody fantastic ,, tv. Wifi. Satellite,,, own water, electric. DUDE. YOU ARE THE MAN !!!!!! It was a bit of a hairy drive on a couple of roads getting here, but well worth it I think !! Thanks again mate. Looks like the best site so far for me!!!
I knew you would love it there - and try to get around to chatting to the lovely Funsters on site. Hope you're staying a few days as the Funster band perform in the bar tomorrow lunchtime.

D k. I'm not gonna touch anything mate. The electrics seem fine but gas isn't !! I'd only do more damage poking about !! Cheers.
There is no connection between an intermittent pump and a failing boiler other than they both use the van 12v electrical supply. The fault may be a simple (I use the word loosely) electrical fault.

No Tony, but there is between an intermittently operating gas regulator, and a failing boiler, which is what I referred to previously, and a faulty regulator was identified, by @gus-lopez. ;)

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Good afternoon !! Well it rained here last night and this morning so I took full advantage to recharge and stayed in bed till 12. Lol( lazy ba,,,,d) I hear you saying !! Lol it was lovely ! Just been on a long bike ride through barbota or whatever the town is called!! All closed for their afternoon nap!!

So after the town came the mountain , being as I have the bike I thought, why not give it a go? Get the legs working a bit, test out the gears and get up into the hills !!!

All was well for maybe ten mins! Then I realised how fit and how much leg power these professional cyclists have!!
Christ i nearly had a heart attack and it wasn't a very steep hill it just didn't stop !! Well I had to! So I got off and walked pushing the bike up for about another 10 mins,, now when I looked down I thought I'd done well for an old boy!! So I had a fag and pondered upon my desent!!!

No traffic, thank god it turns out !!

Got on the bike, strapped rucksack up tight , and started to free wheel down the hill !!

Within seconds the bike was going too fast for the peddles to catch up!! And the brakes that I tried to put on just seem to smoulder and smoke!!! Thank Christ there was no cars coming either way! I was bang in the middle of the road hanging on for dear life looking for places I could jump off or bail out by just crashing!!! The thought that what are you doing you bloody idiot? Your in your 50s you should have more sence ! Was going through my mind, and also I'm glad I got my passport in my bag in case I go off the edge to certain death!! Well it seemed like it was all over in a flash the next min I'm into the edge of town! Just hold on I thought nearly there but then I saw I was heading for a red raised crossing bump!!

Well I have to laugh now, sitting here drinking my coffee thanking my lucky stars,, I hit this bump but I was trying to be clever, I stood on the peddles to get away from the seat but it had the adverse effect!! The bike hit the bump the seat smashed into my undercarriage and I yelped!! Desperately holding on I sailed past a couple of school kids and a group of old women who had obviously seen me hit the bump!! I heard raised laughter!!

I started to slow down and then regained full control of bike, undercarriage and heart !! I came to a slow stop and dismounted, I was shaking with fear!! Lit another fag and proceeded with all the dignity I could muster to walk the remaining 3 kms back to the site, where I am sitting now having this much needed coffee!!! I think I will leave this red bull adventure mountain biking to the pros!!! It's far to scary for me!!!!

Anyway, heating all good in helga but water takes time to get due to I think as was suggested a faulty non return valve!! But I have water so I'm not panicking!!

I rang the Hymer dealer in Seville, that lasted ten secs. No one speaks English so when I get there that should be fun !!! Still I have heat! I have water! And I'm still in one piece. But I must say I'm not having much luck with my testicles !! Hope you all are ok. And thanks for input last night re water it seems like it's not the end of the world after all !! Xxxx

Well I'm sorry for gender mistake dude!!
How on earth could I have been wrong ?? Lol. I havnt met any other funsters yet but I havnt had a walk round. And if they have any sence they will be giving me a wide berth !! Lol. Xx.

Then you are the richest person I know, I am enjoying your adventure enjoy cadiz

Lynne , Sometimes on this trip I actually feel like there is nowhere else I would rather be. However much money it would cost to be there!!
