Ian and helga go south !!

Morning Ian and Helga

It was Nigel and Pamala @Sundowners them mentioned a service place if you were coming to Portugal Camperstop Messines.

Martin

Hi Martin Cheers mate I did find post and sent them a text. So are you there with them and is the place far from there? Tell me what you can will you?

i know somebody that left their dog behind and drove 20+ miles before they realised. they drove back and there was the dog sitting patiently tied to a tree on the pitch. poor little soul

My Dad once left my sister and I behind when we were little. He didn't realise until Mum asked where we were.

Me too. It's too easy to forget something without a check list.

As most of you will now know I'm the pillock who was involved with the lamp post incident and I'm enjoying all the flack I'm deservedly taking over it. However don't want Ian's excellent thread diluted with my adventures.....do you think we should start a separate "things we left behind " thread?

My Mum and Dad would have left me behind somewhere if they thought they could have got away with it!

Hi Ian

Camperstop MessinesN 37 deg 16' 45.9". W 8 deg 14' 29.8". It's Sao Bartolomeu de Messines.

The coordinates bring you here spot on, so don't worry when you hit the dirt road. No electric so getting the heating fixed would be a reasonably high priority me thinks -0.7 deg this morning but lovely now the sun is out.

Yes there is space Nigel and Pamala not back yet and I don't know where the service place is that he had in mind.

Andy that runs the site will know though.

If you come here make you are stocked up as you can't just walk to the shops, it's a rural chill out place with lots of walking Andy says you can't get lost here but I am sure you could if you tried;)

I am sure if you e-mailed Andy he would have the info on the service place.

Update !! Caravan cruzis shut its workshops for another show, unfortunately,, the place I have been told about in Portugal is not answering phones ! There must be another workshop on the coast in Spain that does gas servicing surely??

Try em again Ian, there are others on the Algarve, but Camperserve are supposed to be good, maybe they had a sleep in as Portugal is an hour behind Spain

Ok well I hope it's a good morning for all of you ? I on the other hand now have a dilemma !!!!!

Woke up a couple of hours ago, went to put heating , water on. Nothing !! I have left it, tried it, left it, tried it !! So my dilemma is. Do I continue and hopefully find with your help a Motorhome/ caravan Service place or do I turn back for elche sevice centre ?? Or even uk ???

When I turn system on I can hear electric working but the boiler is not igniting ? Also the water is not coming out of tap properly? Very slow and sporadic ?

I'm sure someone said there was a place in Portugal so I will look at back posts. But any and all recommendations will be gratefully received !! X.

By the way I am near Gibraltar !!

I would check you have fresh water and it hasn't been dumped, then have a look for a filter, which might be near the water pump. Ours can be dismantled and cleaned.

D k. I'm not gonna touch anything mate. The electrics seem fine but gas isn't !! I'd only do more damage poking about !! Cheers.
DonT want to be pedantic, but all the signs point to no water in, gas or heater shouldn't make any difference to water coming out of the taps, but no water in the boiler would stop it lighting,

Chaser ok nice one. I did run a lot of water out of tank when I came away from Granada yesterday and that may be a good place to start !! Thanks. Unfortunately I have no water here on aire so I will have to move to fill up. But I will def let you know! Thanks again. !! X

Right I've had a think and I'm not panicking so don't worry about me!! Lol. I'm going to go to the reccommended site in Cadiz and see what's occurring. I mean it's only a bit of heating for gods sake!! I won't die of frostbite !! Lol. Catch up later. Xx.

Not in the case of the Trumatic C boilers, which Ian has. They are designed to provide heating, with the integral water tank empty or full. (y)

@ianthebuilder, I hope you manage to get it sorted Ian. Is there a steady red or flashing red light on the heater control, when operated?

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Useful to carry a small electric fan heater, useful when your on hook up.

Yes looks good David but there not answering their phones !! Cheers
Hi Ian

We had the same problem this time last year when we tried to contact them. We just turned up, and when we told them we had a gas problem, they said they would look at it if we were prepared to wait until they had done all the pre-booked work for that day.
Hope you get it sorted soon,John

I would also presume that the many boatyards around the coast would know about them

Ok all let me update!! Just arrived at Cadiz and have just been sorted on pitch 57. Bloody fantastic ,, tv. Wifi. Satellite,,, own water, electric. DUDE. YOU ARE THE MAN !!!!!! It was a bit of a hairy drive on a couple of roads getting here, but well worth it I think !! Thanks again mate. Looks like the best site so far for me!!!

Now on the boiler front. My tried and tested hippy friend Jo ( from tortosa) was told of my boiler plight and has come tearing like superwoman to my rescue !!
Hymer dealer, service centre just outside Seville and I have all details !! So I will be going in there regardless of the outcome here to have a full Han check and gas service etc !!

So once again no major drama, I'm looking foreward to relaxing now !!

But this did happen this morning ,,,

Got up, no boiler, ( but you know that) so after a few brews decided to come to Cadiz !! Started helga, lovely, let her warm up a bit while sorting inside ready for journey,,, put all relevant stuff away, put bed up got kettle safe etc. Then proceeded to drive out of aire, all was well UNTILL I hit the first zebra crossing speed bump!! Well I wasn't going fast luckily enough but as I was coming of of it to a roundabout. My bloody bed came down on top of me !!! ( obviously not hooked in properly) so I am trying to drive to find a safe place to pull up, and I'm afraid it gets a bit busy at the frontier to Gibraltar, so I had to drive away from the frontier as slowly as I could supporting the bed with my head, well every time I hit a bump it went back up and came down with a vengance! It was hammering me into the seat with every bump! ( I was like a nail, getting lower and lower!) Anyway pulled up after the third roundabout and got it sorted!! The only prob now is I am 6 in shorter!! The rest of the journey was uneventfull but scarey on one particular road! But all good, arrived safe,, immediately fell in love with Carmen on reception and if I can swing it it will be a spring wedding !!! Your all invited !! My wedding list will be held at the Hymer dealers !!! Xxx. Ian and helga xxxx.

The Hymer bed hammer has happened to us as well. Luckily we were not on the road at the time, and it didn't hit anyone.

After that I always found the bed more difficult to put up but maybe that was because I became scared of it. We did fit and extra strap on afterwards though.

Good God Ian, you are obviously suffering from brain damage!! When the hymer has been serviced get yourself booked into a clinic for some therapy and/or a full service :imoutahere:
