Ian and helga go south !!

Hello omahdog!!! I actually thought about that. And when I left javea and drive for a while I came across an Iceland where I got my teabags and I wish I could remember the name of the town, the reason for this is the staff were mostly English and the London bird ( woman) on the till was bloody lovely! I'm sure we had a moment? Lol. I might have to have a drive back that way soon just to see if I can find the place again !! Lol and to get tbags of course!!
Ian Was the town guardamar? We went in the Iceland, just up the road behind the Lidl, and I was amazed they all sound as though they are from darn sarf? I could pop up there and give her your number :call:

That could be fraught with all sorts of danger Ian. Better idea might be to arrange a meet up with other single/solo motorhomers and do road trips and meets together. There are quite a few male and female travellers on here. Good luck and enjoy your life. Pat.

That's a bit of a catch 22, if they aren't confident, what are the chances of them thinking a couple of weeks in a confined space with someone they haven't met is a goer? I can see it from your point of view, but not from theirs.

If anyone can prove me wrong, you can Ian!

Also, I think you will get some people who will expect you to be their drinking buddy every night for 2 weeks, and some who will expect to fine dine in Helga every night with you at the cooker controls! Finding a happy medium might be hard.

Ian slight twist here, I understand were you are coming from but beleive me two people who know each other very well there is not much room in a motorhome. Now on the same track but slightly different angle there really are a lot of people out there I can think of 3 this week that have been on the forum, lost their confidence need some company, all the things you are saying, but they do have their own Motorhomes but need a companion to travel with and give them confidence, that would be a route that I could see working.

Ian, your clearly a caring guy who wants to help people with the best of motives but I can't see the sharing helga a bit working. I'm sure there are ways you could channel your wish to help but keep helga as your own space to share with people you know and like.
Chris

To be honest , I would have thought it a better idea to help people with your building skills, as you started out, do a job here, move on , have a week or two out , another place another job, seems ideal to me, wish I was twenty years younger and know what I know now:)

I think it would be a great idea. Getting many people "back on track" when they think they have now where to go. Just for a long weekend or so. All they would need is to rock up and then "meet and greet". You don't have to be in someone's pocket all day and that could be the start they need. Leave them alone for a day then meet back up. If you want to travel with them then do so. Good on you (y) don't know how it will work, but certainly a few would jump at it.

Ok. Now we can bring that thought and discussion to an end !! I would hate to wake up in a confined space with someone looking over me holding a carving knife cause there slightly unstable!! It was only a thought !! Lol
Thank you for all replies, it may be better to stick to the original plan at present, just dossing round, chilling out and doing a bit when I can for whoever needs it! Xxx.

Ian going back to your 'befriending idea' there are pitfalls I met john when I wanted someone who would take me out on the back of their bike once a month or so. 16 years on we are still together. He still has a bike, I took several years indoctrinating him in the joys of motorhoming. Don't think the romahome i had at the time helped though.
Glad you had a good sleep, you and Helga now got recharged batteries.

What a lovely caring man you are Ian ! I'm sure you would be great at making others enjoy their life better. But I agree with so many that often there are many more issues these people may have. It is something to think about certainly ,and lovely to make plans ! Enjoy your time in helga and you never know you might meet the one round the next corner! Then 3 in Helga would be......

If I get blown out of bed in the night I will let you all know!! Last seen a bloke wrapped in a quilt heading for Murcia at 4,000 ft !!!

When I first went free fall parachuting my chute wouldn't open so I was frantically searching for the reserve chute pull chord, as I was plummeting towards Earth I saw Ian coming up so I shouted at him,

"do you know anything about Parachutes Ian?"

and he replied "NO, Do you know anything about refillable gas cylinders."

Well I think that's what he said he was out of ear shot for any reply anyway.

Just catching up so sorry for bringing the befriending bit up again......but might it be an idea you could sort of tie up with Jo? Isn't she aiming for some sort of retreat thing.......

Maybe she could put you in touch with folk that would benefit:)

Ha ha. You won't get anymore urban than me parky!! But I'm getting your drift !!! Sod that in other words!!! Lol. if that's ok because the wind here for the last 24 hrs has given me a right headache! And there's no more going on with the carnival till sat. And to be honest I'm getting itchy feet now!! It was alright knocking about with Gus but I have done this place to death now !! I think I'm going to move tomorrow and I may well come that way, if your about can you go in and have a word tomorrow for me?? I appreciate the help. Urban camping can be a back up plan!! But knowing my luck I'd probably stay one night there and in the morning helga might look like she's been attacked by banksy !!!!!!
