Ian and helga go south !!

Just took a stroll down to the marina in Aguilar to say hello to Ian @ianthebuilder. It was nice to meet him in the flesh after following this thread. I can confirm he is as nice as everyone following the tread thinks.
It was also nice to meet Richard @gus-lopez who has been helping Ian.
As you can see Ian is fine following all his mishaps.

There's half a dozen down the road by Mercadona this morning as well as the beach being absolutely full + the small piece of waste ground next to the big detached house opposite the Marina & the icing on cake is a spanish motorhome actually parked outside the gates of the marina parking where Ian is.

& I got in to test the wifi which comes from the actual hotel in front & talk about fast. (y)

Lovely also to meet @Greenway, who came around & met up with Ian & I lovely to meet you.(y)

Oh no....that's not the same red chairs you see on the side of the road with the lady's of the day and night on is it.
 
Lucky you, some great places for tapas, and coffee is not £3.00+ a time, tastes better too. Roll on 28th February when we will be on the ferry weather permitting.
Heading for Benicassim to meet up with some friends, thye only live about an hour away from us, but hoping weather will be better in Spain.
 
Well that was a non eventful night!! I'm afraid I missed the carnival parade last night !! I had a little kip about 6,30 for an hour ( supposedly) just to freshen me up so I could last the night out and guess what??? I have just woken up ( about half hour ago). Where I went wrong I think is that I went to bed,, or on top of it just to be comfortable and that was it !!!!

I can't believe actually how windy it is here, I'm assuming it has been like that for a while but I never heard a thing!! The only drawback in this wind for me is it makes my tea go colder quicker. Which is a pain !! I shall have to design an asbestos lip cover to put on and throat protector so I can just drop a few teabags in and guzzle it straight from a boiling kettle !!! Hope you all slept well ? Speak soon. Ian X
 
Thermal cup is clearly the way ahead then Ian!! We have to use them in Blighty all year:rolleyes:
Doubt you can buy them there!!

Good idea zig, I actually have a couple knocking about somewhere in helga? The only drawback to that though is it is a bit sacreligeous to put a Yorkshire tea bag in a plastic cup!! I like a China mug. Or on very special occasions. A. Bone china cup or mug !!! Lol

Are you sure that's a drawback, the quicker it cools, the quicker you can drink it and be on to the next one! It will cost you a few more trips to Iceland to stock up though!
 
I would like to tell you all a bit more about my gas drama the other day!! I am a very optimistic positive bloke, can't help it I always will be !! I just made myself chuckle when I thought about what happened the other morning! What follows is an example of always seeing the positive side!!!

Apart from blowing a hole in the neighbours awning and thanking my lucky stars he wasn't in there at the time! ( It could have taken his head off! ). I will recap!!! When I turned the heating on I remember it making a bit of a funny noise , then out of nowhere came the explosion, well if I remember correctly I actually ducked and fell to the floor thinking I was under attack!! Then the positive mind set kicked in. I thought ( and I hope you don't think this is wrong). If I am being fired upon, I hope I will only get shot in the legs Because I would be good at wheelchair tennis!!! In my brain I was already collecting a gold from the next olympics !!! I don't think my mind is quite right !! Lol.

Hello omahdog!!! I actually thought about that. And when I left javea and drive for a while I came across an Iceland where I got my teabags and I wish I could remember the name of the town, the reason for this is the staff were mostly English and the London bird ( woman) on the till was bloody lovely! I'm sure we had a moment? Lol. I might have to have a drive back that way soon just to see if I can find the place again !! Lol and to get tbags of course!!

One thing for sure Ian you must be chilled and comfortable in Helga to sleep through 12 hours straight, must have needed it as well. Hope you catch the parade today, keep positive it's the only way to be for me and keep enjoying, now I'm off for another cup of tea. (y)

I can confirm @ianthebuilder has very nice china mugs and makes a good cup of tea(y)
 
Ok. Now this is going to be a serious discussion !! I hope !!

I actually feel very comfortable with this travelling lifestyle, and all that goes with it!! Now when I started this adventure it was with a certain amount of apprehension ( not much I will grant you, but a little bit). But during these weeks I seem to have de stressed completely ! Now that lead me to a thought , and further thoughts since that maybe there would be other single people of a more mature age( and I'm not talking 18 to 30s here) maybe with a bit of a loss of self esteem, suffered a break up, lack of self confidence or something similar that could and would benefit from a week or two just travelling about in helga with me, having a laugh and relaxing, maybe even benefitting internally from the whole experience?

At this stage of my thoughts I don't want to get bogged down or tied up with the details or practicalities of. Insurance, liabilities, or the red tape that goes with it , even the thought of having to upgrade helga etc, but just the idea of advertising and maybe helping people rebuild a bit of confidence and having a laugh in there lives ,, if they feel they need it. ??

What do you think of the general idea, in principle???

It could get confusing. At the moment you are free to go where you like,when you like, and with who you like.

yes mikey, I understand that , but I'm not talking one after the other like a treadmill here, maybe one person for a week or two per month or whenever the need for them arises? And to be honest, I like a bit of company now and again too!! It could benefit both of us ? Also mikey I'm not thinking of having a set route, still do what I'm doing now !!

Hahahaha. Yes Martin I know what your saying,, but there the ones that prob need more help and laughter in their lives!! And it would prob teach me to be more patient!! Lol. Remember what my ban said,, no such thing as bad wether, only the wrong clothes!! Lol.

Yes figaro I get that, but I didn't mean just for the company,, I actually mean to help people, raise their self confidence etc, listen to what they have to say and hopefully help them move on! And I wasn't intending to target motorhomers at all !! In fact from what I've seen. Indipendant motorhomers are some of the most practical well rounded individuals I have met!! Im talking about the people who would love to travel round , being a bit indipendant, maybe testing themselves, and roughing it a bit. Purely for the experience! Not people like us who have a go anywhere, try anything once mindset!! And ones who may be too scared to just have a go on their own!! Members of the general public. And God forbid. Even tuggers !!! Lol
 
That could be fraught with all sorts of danger Ian. Better idea might be to arrange a meet up with other single/solo motorhomers and do road trips and meets together. There are quite a few male and female travellers on here. Good luck and enjoy your life. Pat.
