I've been there. Stayed one night and shot off early the next morning. It had the smelliest drains I have encountered for some time - the smell of them permeated the whole campsite. It is also in a spectacularly unpleasant location but is clearly very popular for some reason. However, the beach is good but a fair walk away. There is another Camping Marjal a little further inland which gets good reports and was the one we were heading for until we ended up at the wrong one by accident!
Wasn't impressed either,Can't see the attraction but each to their own.
Lovely!! What a life though,,nowhere to go, no one to see, no plans, no routine, no stress!! I wish I was a rich mans bastard!!!!
We went for a walk to the beach along the river, the river was clogged with rubbish including numerous dead cats. The locals were fishing in amongst it .

Ian, having read all this from the beginning , I seem to have forgot the plot, what is the plan from now on, you seem to have hit the coast and now just toing and froing from one to another that seem to be the same as the last, not putting a downer on this as I think we would all be there doing what you are if we had the courage and chance just wondering what the plan is now.
Bit bloody late j !!!!! LolCould visit us in Totana on your travels!
Just realised you're going sarf.
Keep up son !! I didn't get to stay there! And I got bored thinking I would have to wait 4 days for caravanne place to open !!! I'm heading for Granada now!!! Lol.Agree with @DBK & @bigtree. It seems a very "clicky" place with people returning year on year for 6 month stays. We are here to visit friends and had a job booking in its so popular but we won't be returning. Everywhere is too far away and heaven only knows why they fish the river, its filthy. Thought it was a handy stop near enough to Elche for Ian to see the caravan repairers before he moved on. The weather has been lovely though. Off to javea next week, can't wait.
I know you moved on Ian, i was just agreeing with other posters views of this site/area and explaining why I suggested it to you. Pulpi looks nice enjoy granada, that is if you don't change your mind along the wayKeep up son !! I didn't get to stay there! When you are on the mway just before Portugal, it's worth taking a detour to the coast, various seaside towns, nearly all deserted this time of the year, but beachs for miles, but worth it just to see, it's mostly holiday flats with no one in them, but useualy some nice little bars open for the locals, Isla Christina is one that comes to mind, plenty space to park.
