The only one I could spot on Google earth, just north and over the river.

I've been there. Stayed one night and shot off early the next morning. It had the smelliest drains I have encountered for some time - the smell of them permeated the whole campsite. It is also in a spectacularly unpleasant location but is clearly very popular for some reason. However, the beach is good but a fair walk away. There is another Camping Marjal a little further inland which gets good reports and was the one we were heading for until we ended up at the wrong one by accident!

Wasn't impressed either,Can't see the attraction but each to their own.

We went for a walk to the beach along the river, the river was clogged with rubbish including numerous dead cats. The locals were fishing in amongst it .

Ok maybe a slight exaggeration but I'm still blind at the moment!! I do carry eyewash with a first aid kit but there's not much left because I bought a really nice girl back last night and she drank it!!

That's where you're going wrong Ian.
Everyone knows,"The best things in life are FREE"

For catfish presumably. :)

Ian, having read all this from the beginning , I seem to have forgot the plot, what is the plan from now on, you seem to have hit the coast and now just toing and froing from one to another that seem to be the same as the last, not putting a downer on this as I think we would all be there doing what you are if we had the courage and chance:( just wondering what the plan is now.(y):)

I have just pulled up on a car park with a few Dutch tourers and I am just passed aguileros in a place called pulpi. !!!!! I am going to eat here , sleep here and get going first thing tomorrow!! I will be heading along the coast I hope but don't know to where yet ??

I do want to go to saville though so I may head inland a bit and you never know the mood might strike me to visit Granada!! See how I feel tomorrow. !! Nice and sheltered here and boiling hot. Temp on helgas dash says 29 degrees and it feels like it!!! Think I will put fan on for fridge!! Laters, !!!!

Oh no Ian, do you know where you can get replacement fans from???

I did however go and say goodbye to Gus today, had a nice brew and will keep in touch !! So I have decided life's too short to worry about such inconviences like possibility of boiler explosion and now I'm getting on with the adventure!!

Looking at the map I have I think I will head towards Granada tomorrow! Has anybody been? Any close Aires? Is it worth a visit??

If I do go that way I then will head on straight across to Seville, stopping in maybe antiquera ? Long motorways but prob quickest route to Portugal possibly?? Still going to have a walk now and see if any things open !! Xx

Ok. Just looking on map and I can see 3 campsites around Granada that say there open all year.
1.....camping los lomas
2......camping alto-de vinuelas
3.......camping reina Isabel
Anybody stayed at any of them ???

Agree with @DBK & @bigtree. It seems a very "clicky" place with people returning year on year for 6 month stays. We are here to visit friends and had a job booking in its so popular but we won't be returning. Everywhere is too far away and heaven only knows why they fish the river, its filthy. Thought it was a handy stop near enough to Elche for Ian to see the caravan repairers before he moved on. The weather has been lovely though. Off to javea next week, can't wait.

Stayed at low lomas and it was fine. Site is slightly out of Granada up in the hills but has a bus stop outside the site to get into the city. Worth visiting the Alhambra palace as well. We saw big car parks there but don't know if they allow you to overnight enjoying reading your travels. Rosemary and Jim

Keep up son !! I didn't get to stay there! And I got bored thinking I would have to wait 4 days for caravanne place to open !!! I'm heading for Granada now!!! Lol.

We stayed at camping Marjal nr Crevillente recently, nice large plots, nice showers etc but HUGE. Many obviously there long term. We cut our stay short after one night, driving away we felt like we were escaping from a prison in the middle of nowhere.

image.jpeg View from my coffee cup !!! Lovely little town is pulpi !! Surrounded by mountains and no bloody wind!!!

When you are on the mway just before Portugal, it's worth taking a detour to the coast, various seaside towns, nearly all deserted this time of the year, but beachs for miles, but worth it just to see, it's mostly holiday flats with no one in them, but useualy some nice little bars open for the locals, Isla Christina is one that comes to mind, plenty space to park.
