Ian and helga go south !!

Ian in case your up for it a few funsters meeting up tonight (Sunday) for karaoke and beer at Idols Bar. See the groups Benidorm snowbird section or pm if you fancy it. 9.30 onwards.

There are no Barclays Banks in Spain now Ian, bought out by La Caixa in May last year. In the Javea one they 'retired early' all the original staff which was a great shame. The service definitely suffered.

There is one branch on

And one on Av. mediterraneo

We drove that stretch today @ianthebuilder on our way to Javea.

If Helga loved that you must take her down the coast road in Croatia, she'll love you forever.
 
If I remember correctly Deutche Bank is done through the Correos. ( Post Office to you .lol)

Appears they have a Branch in El Campello. Can't see anything in Benidorm.

Looking at the photos the gearbox is probably all ok but you need the end plate of the awning with the hole in it for the gearbox to screw to. What has probably happened is the impact has slid the awning roller backwards & out of its support in the other end cap.That gearbox just comes off what's left of the end cap by undoing those 2 screws . The end cap if you can get one just looks to attach via the 2 small screws that screw into the upper /lower slots in the casing extrusion. . There's nothing there that isn't fixable even if you can't buy an end cap & had to make one.

Yes Gus I looked at it again today it seems as if I could get a new end cap that would allow the gearbox to stay on and be supported. There was a small green thing inside that came out too so hopefully it's not too bad a fix ,,, I hope!! I will keep you informed! Hope your well mate see you soon! Ian.

Ok all,,, well I had a lovely message from tonka today about going for a drink in a karaoke bar tonight, and I have decided to take him up on the offer, it will be great to meet some more funsters! I probably won't even be able to find the phone later let alone type so this will be it this evening, as I was walking past a couple of bars today I saw some prices advertised, and I must admit I was pleasantly surprised!!! Bottles of corona 2.50 euros !!! Cor I pay over £3,00 for a bottle of that In bars at home!! So slaughtered for less than £20 can't be bad!! Lol. I do hope there's none of those young Eastern European stunners out tonight, or many single available women to be honest! I mean trying to have a drink while trying to read the words to some god awful karaoke tune I might have to sing , what a distraction women would be!! I'm no good at multitasking!! I hopefully will update you on tonight's events tomorrow morning,and hopefully not from a hospital bed or a cell,!!!! Have a good night all , I'm sure the funsters here will !!!! Ok re the awning drama! I have just spoken to 2 people who advertise awning repairs but neither can help because it's a Motorhome awning not a household one! So I am going to the camping shop today to see what they can do! i hope I can get a result I don't want to take the awning off or throw it away, would be a shame!! Let you know what's going on later, have a good morning all !!
 
Just been reading on Tonka's facebook page most of the funsters stayed at the Karaoke till 3am some great pics on there of you all . Glad you got to meet some of the Benni Funster gang Ian . Good luck with the awning .

The story so far!! Well it's a canopy and not an awning!! Got a bloke to come and have a look from a company, he bought long ladders too so I was able to get over it to look! When I did I was amazed ,, all too material was shot to pieces barely threads holding it together, not surprising I was told after about 17 years!! Didn't buy a new one just took old one away and scrapped and he did that for 30 euros!! Bonus so at least I can drive away whenever!! So now I'm going to get an awning and not a new canopy!! Bit more practical for space and security and it can double as an outside kitchen, lovely.. So no major downside took old knackered canopy off and now have choices available. And I'm mobile!! Good day!! Ian.

Steve is wont let you put a link on because the Funsters is a closed group people need to join the facebook Funster's to see the pics :(
 
Glad your canopy is sorted Ian.

We have two awnings, one large and one small so can take whichever will be more practical for the trip. When you do get a new awning just make sure you can erect it single handed. I like the drive away type as all the cheap to replace outside stuff can be left undercover onsite when we go out in the van for the day. It also marks the pitch as taken :)
