You unfortunately munchie and Mrs munchie have no alternative but to put up with meeting me, I have you right at the top of my French list and you have been there since we spoke on the phone !! are you still head of the resistance?? Lol. Xx
 
If it's an omnistor I have a gearbox here you can have.
Can you take a photo & post in here then we know what we're looking at.

Yes Gus I will first thing tomorrow and post it , it's not pretty. It it may give us some idea!! Cheers again mate. Or should I start calling you dad?? Lol.

No problem getting parts in fact what he did was put an 12v motor with remote instead of manual and cheaper by half than a new awning .

I will look foreward to getting lots of recommends about sites poi when the French leg of my trip begins porkster! If you start telling me about France now what little grey matter I have left will just overload!! Lol. X

Yes Kate I arrived as you prob know yesterday and after a few dramas lol I was sitting having a reflective 5 mins and edd came down, introduced himself wich was fantastic then later on I had a good look round and walked up ( what I lovingly refer to as ) nob hill !! Where I met some more,, lovely crowd got a couple of things sorted, lots of advice and help. Even from people not on site! Brilliant darlin really ! I was given a local paper as well and have seen an advert for a bloke that repairs awnings so I will give him. Ring on Monday and we will see! ThNks for message Kate. Have a lovely Sunday! Ian xx.

Hi Gus. These are pics of damage. Now gearbox is not fixed on and end cap broken beyond repair so gearbox doesn't stay in position so unable to wind in!! But supported and tied like it is at least it doesn't come off or loose! And I may have shunted whole awning over a bit too I won't know till I try to close it after new bits fitted! image.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpeg

Awning luckily enough is out, up and In place park luckily. It's just that it won't go back in!!! I hope it's a hot one mate I could do with some sun!!

Maybe a time to dig out the insurance policy. As ever the equation will be balancing excess payment, no claims and how much the bas*ards screw you over on renewal. A call to your broker may be in order.

Do you know. That never crossed my mind pops!! I will see what the damage comes to and ring safeguard after!! Not a bad idea!! Ian

Be careful Ian. I made enquiries with my insurers when our awning got storm trashed in Germany, but I didn't make a claim, but instead, paid Omnistor Thule (Menen) direct for the repairs. On the next renewal were details of a claim I hadn't made. I soon had that one knocked on the head. :mad:

BTW, our old (worn) gearbox had nylon components to it, whereas the replacement had metal components. (y)

Hi Ian sorry I missed you but flew home yesterday sorry to hear about your awning but I see you have meet some of the Funsters and they have sortred you out.

How was your first night in Benidorm did you venture into town and the market is on today.

Afternoon all ,, I have been walking for the last few hours round Benidorm and I'm on the prom now by the beach, what has amazed me is the amount of Spanish families all out together of every generation! And not one of the kids I have passed or seen has been permanently glued to a phone!! They all talk to each other!! If I could I don't think I would ever go back to uk !! It's a different world and only a few hours away!! Viva espania !!!!

Wai till about 5-6pm and they'll all be promenading along the prom in their finest threads ! Nice to see - even in Beni!

yes family life alive and well all over except in the UK where we expect the state to look after our old and young before they can even walk....
 
Afternoon peeps, I have had a lovely walk today and now I'm back in helgas safe arms having a brew!! I was looking for a Barclays Bank or a deutche bank today but didn't find either? Does anyone know if there is a Barclays in or near Benidorm??? Oh and I didn't have a roast dinner today I treated myself to a Chinese instead! Just made a right pig of myself! Lovely it was!! And on a lighter note, I had to laugh, I was walking on the prom( as one does) and I got tooted from behind, I moved over looked round and saw a mobility scooter for two!! Lol. Like a tandem ! Driver in front and passenger behind! Lol. Wait till they get them at home. They will all want one!! Hahaha !!!
