New vent covers ( old ones are good but ageing in colour)
Removal of old sat dish from roof and old tech from inside!!

Most ladies have those, don't worry about them. We blokes are destined to never fathom them.

Why oh why oh why is everyone so tight !!!
We all love a bargain - but you can't put a price on an experience.

If you can afford the luxury of a motorhome - then be prepared to spend a few quid to enjoy it

Totally agree, it seems to me that a lot of posters think everything has to be done on the cheap. Surely if Ian doesn't mind/care what he spends then what the heck. Well done Ian I say - :drinks:

Not on the cheap, why pay for something you don't need. In our Motorhome we have water, gas, solar, shower, toilet. Why pay for things we already have, paying €15 or more per night for something we don't need, to us that is throwing money away. It's like telling you to go and buy some potatoes when you already have enough, why would you do that?

We haven't got a bottomless pit of money, what we do have we want to eek out so that we can continue for as long as possible doing the one thing we love the most and that is travelling.

Yes all very well, but the other thing city campsites particularly and many paid for Aires offer are security. Unless your camper van looks like a hippy €200 worth you are vulnerable if wild camping in places Lisbon, Barcelona, and Marseilles etc etc. Especially with foreign plates. Just read Campercontact, one person got broken into regularly in the carpark on Lisbon harbour front. For €22 I'll pay the man in Lisbon rather than get my camper trashed and stuff nicked!

I am going to give up on this now , just fed up of getting knocked back for trying to help, OK Ian you have done what you set out to do and good on you many of us would have loved to do the same, but as you have said , that 18 grand is all you have in the world , nothing coming in but plenty going out, others on here telling you to spend it , have all got houses and villas and pensions £100000 motorhomes and other investments, now you say you are going to try to do it again this winter , but where will the money keep coming from to spend like you have been, it won't !
All I have in mind is all the best for you and just trying to help, saving money is not a crime.

No mate it's not,, and I shall save money,, first when I'm working. And then when I come back to Spain !!
The traditional route of big profit on a property, being left money and having a good pension didn't work for me in the end,,, so my priorities have changed chaser,, I will never again when I come to Spain spend this much money!! I have done most of my sightseeing this time,, I will return to England and work ,, now I will earn enough I hope to top my funds back up and that will allow me a Spanish fund of maybe 5/6.000 pounds,,,, knowing what I know now and just sitting for a few, maybe 5/6 months on a site in Benidorm , that should be more than enough for a frugal lifestyle!! I no longer am interested in owning a property, mortgage, pension but earning enough to enjoy my life and winters abroad will do me lovely,, oh and a few extra quid for my daughter will be fine!! I have never poo pooed your idea of saving money chaser, I realise it's important for some,,, as long as I have enough. I will be happy !!! I appreciate that's hard for some people to understand in today's society but you play the hand your dealt !!!

And you never know mate I may win a lottery!!! Or meet that 6 ft blonde who's dad owns that brewery chain !!! Lol. Enjoy your holiday. And don't take life to seriously,,,, Enjoy,,,,,,,, xxx

18K to your name Ian, you lucky. I take my hat of to you, you are out there enjoying life with a great attitude. We are the same, we gave our jobs up and set off for our winter trip, four months away, back beginning of March, both got jobs within a week me on the agency, the wife a seasonal job which ends end of October then we will hopefully be back on a ferry beginning of March for another four months away. Peaple see our camper and think they got money, far from it, yes if we sold it we would have. We budget for a grand a month away, if we can do that then that's good. Life is for living, if we have money we enjoy it, not interested in having money in the bank and sitting at home or doing nothing. None of us know what is round the corner. Enjoy life, that's what I was put on this planet for. Happy travels.

Good on you Ian, I am only posting these thoughts, because I have seen too much money going down the drain in the past, it's easy to spend it but it's damed hard to get it back, we have about £1100 a month coming in in our state pensions, and try to keep within that on our trips, although saying that we do have a few other investments
So we are ok but know what it's like to have nowt, and I would hate to see you go that route.
Good luck and keep up the posts, and we have always got the book to look forward to(y):)

I happen to think that £18,000 is a lot of money,, for me!!

And I don't think £8,000 for 4 1/2 months away is much either,, let me explain !!

Last year I had a used Mercedes, cost £11,000. I used that car for approx 20 mins a week, if I could get to it!!
My last holiday was to the USA, cost me for a family of four, with car hire, flights, hotels, spending etc nearly , £6000. And that was for 2 weeks !!! And I didn't get to do anything I wanted to do , lol. So I can easily justify my spending this trip !! Oh And I had a mortgage of a good few quid a month. And was always out working to pay the bills , basically it was a bedroom for £650 per month, plus bills etc !!

So I don't think. £8,000 is much I'm the scheme of things,, ( and I must have given £1500 quid away to worthy causes!!!! )

And I have never had £18,000 cash available to me in my whole life !!! Xxxxx
