Ian and helga go south !!

I thought you might have spent a lot of money on those err 'flamenco' girls:whistle:

Ian, we did a similar thing to you many years ago. Alan took redundancy just as the kids were finishing school for summer so we packed up the caravan and buggered off to France. He'd got £25,000 redundancy and we enjoyed ourselves. We figured that we would never have that amount of time or money again so sod it, lets go. We had a wonderful time and the kids certainly did. We left Alan's Dad watching for job adverts and alerting us and Alan rang a few companies while we were away, being an engineer he didn't have much problem finding a job, he lined up interviews for the few days after we got home and he started work the following week. We were lucky and it's memories that we as a family will never forget.

( he's not expecting to be there) so if anyone can let me know where I can stay in Dover,, site etc,, or outside. Then that would be handy!! Cheers. Xx

Direction = The Drum Inn is easily accessible from the M20 motorway network in Kent. Leave the M20 Junction 11 Coast bound. Follow the B2068 for approximately half a mile and then turn left onto Stone Street. The Drum Inn is situated on your right hand side.
We have used this site on a number of occassions. Good food at the pub and very close to the tunnel.

What he said :

I think it is just under 7m.

Thanks Gus.
That would probably fit on my drive Ian. If so, you could stay with me and ratface for the night FOC. Depends where you're going for the party in Essex. I'm reasonably close to the M25 and A12.

An offer you can't refuse Ian ;) but if you do, I'm another for the New Dover Rd P&R, Canterbury. (y)
It's a great facility, and if you are in there early enough, you can jump on the bus, and get into the city for a beer and a meal, and all within the parking price. If a bit later, (but not later than 20.00hrs) you can have a pint and a meal at the adjacent pub. (y)
We'll be in there tomorrow afternoon. ;)

Cheers,

Jock. :)

go with the wingman & ratface night(y)

you now it makes sense

and dont forget the brandy;)

Why oh why oh why is everyone so tight !!!
We all love a bargain - but you can't put a price on an experience.

If you can afford the luxury of a motorhome - then be prepared to spend a few quid to enjoy it
Not being tight, and good luck to Ian especially as a one off, but spending a third of his nest egg on one trip doesn't bode well for future trips without a lot of hard work or being more frugal, if someone has a bottomless pit of money or a regular good pension coming in, that's a different story, only trying to advise on past experience how to prolong his tours.

Does that include roof bars, and air conditioning jock?? Cause I'm sure I measured 3,180 from road to top of bits ?? Xxx
It's a bit dark here, to be getting the tape measure out Ian.

For ferry bookings, etc, it's always 2.9mtrs................if you know what I mean. ;)

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Im not really surprized Ian got through such am amount of money, hes been mostly on his own so that tends to make you spend a bit more because you have to DO STUFF to keep your sanity, when he has been with company that lead to spending more because they were DOING STUFF ie going out golf etc etc.

Then he's been chaseing all over Spain using diesel, distroying bits of HELGA.

He's had long holiday as opposed to living in Spain, that costs money, this is an outsiders veiw, Ive never done it myself but it is how i see it. If he had been more chilled, more static, they money spent would have been less. But that would not have been Ian and we would have missed out on shed loads of Fun

Note to @Ian : Morning mate sorry to talk about as if you wer'nt here and thanks for the memories I'm sure we will be talking about you for years.;)

Note to @Jim : can I propose Ian for "best newfunster of the year award".(y)

Good morning,,,

Well I went out with my new found friend for a meal yesterday evening and it was bloody lovely !!!

Just got to the place and the young lady bought us a plate of some toasted bread and 2 bowls of dips , took a bit and it was great, I really liked the bread, and because it was of a shape I've never seen before I called her over and asked 'what sort of bread is this babe? She looked at me with a deadpan face face and said. It's bread !!! Ok I thought forget it!! Then I proceeded to knock my bottle of beer over and all down my friends shirt!! Cool eh??

Anyway a lovely meal was had and all was ok In the end!!!

Right I'm posting this after being woke up with a start about 40 mins ago, and heartbeat only now returning to normal!

I slept really well, and soundly but I woke up with a shaking feeling? I lied there for a second and wondered what it was. But I was definately moving?? Then all of a sudden helga started rocking and I could feel someone on my roof, swaying the van about!! Well I kept out of bed,, naked,, and ran to the door, flew it open shouting. What the f,,,k are you doing. Why you on my roof you f,,,,,g idiot.

Well the bloke climbed down round the back and came to the door, ( I had by now put a shirt in front of my bits) And didn't even attempt to run off like the thief I thought he was??? Segnor He said,,,,, yes I said. Who are you? What you bloody doing ?? (. I thought he was gonna come into my skylight)
Do you have Internet? He said. Yes I said I got it from shop across the road!! Why? Well he said I noticed your antenna was facing the wrong way and I knocked to tell you but I didn't think you were in. So I climbed up your ladder and have now faced it in the right direction!! Christ I said. Who are you?? I am the Internet technician that is responsible for the site,, sorry did I wake you,,, Christ I thought I was getting robbed!!! What a way to wake up ,,, It was then I saw the elderly Dutch lady across from me with her hand over her face laughing with her husband looking at my uncovered backside!!! Still. I hope it makes her day!!!

Lovely sunny day now, and kettles on and alls good in my world!!! Chat later,, xxxxx
